There used to be a formulation of cynical news editors to determine American news priorities for mass murder. It ran something like: 1,000 dead Bangladeshis = 100 dead Italians = 10 dead Americans. So how many dead American babies does it take to make the news? I wrote two-and-a-half weeks ago about the U.S. media’s determination to ignore a story that’s inconvenient to their biases. But, given the gun-banners’ ceaseless grief-feasting on Sandy Hook, at some point doesn’t the corpse count in Philadelphia merit maybe, oh, a thousandth of the attention?
Mark, Mark, Mark. It isn´t about the kids. It is about The Won. It isn´t about schools. It is about the permanent Communist government of the United States. Without guns, there will not be a revolution. So take away the guns. And give them to Homeland Security. The already have an order for 1.3 billion rounds. They will be ready. Zippy has already revealed that a fully automatic weapon was used in Sandy Hook. Who knew? Fully automatic weapons are like the Browning Automatic Rifle, the BAR, which cannot be fired from the shoulder, except in movies. In the Army it is crew-served, and mounted on a bipod. By the way, what IS an assault rifle? A rifle used in assaults by ground forces? That would be an M-15 or a Kalashnikov, military grade. And we can´t own military grade weapons. And no proposed law would have stopped the Sandy Hook tragedy.
#1, your comments regarding the current relationship between the imperial government and We The People are on target.
Allow me to help you with your argument, however, regarding weapons; - the US military issue rifle is typically the M-16 or M-4 (select fire). The AR-15 is what millions of us have in our homes (semi-auto). - dependent upon what state you live in (ie: Alabama), and your willingness to pay the $200 imperial tribute, you can owna full-auto and suppressed weapon.
"We dare to defend our rights!" Alabama state motto
Okay. The "undocumented Anchorman" Steyn demonstrates his point about unbalanced reporting by contrasting the trial of an abortion doctor and the Sandy Hook tragedy. The former trial has received no publicity. The latter has been the focus of non-stop news. There are no moves to stiffen laws against live-birth abortion. None. Obama is in favor of live-birth abortion, as he demonstrated in Illinois. There is no indication that any proposed gun law would (or could) prevent incidents such as Sandy Hook. How does withdrawing the business permit of ONE gun shop keep other persons, intent on malevolent actions, from passing a background check and purchasing a weapon and ammunition? As is so often the case, the coverage itself is biased. How, precisely, does a background check protect us against a person residing in the same domicile as a gun owner? Explain that to me. The whole gun-control story is a power grab by the Federal Government, using human shields to engage in the systematic dismantling of the Constitution of the United States.
House-Senate negotiators are close to a modest budget accord to avoid another government shutdown, but suddenly the White House is introducing a last-minute demand. Five years into an economic recovery that President Obama often hails as miraculous, he wants to extend unemployment benefits one more time. Maybe it´s time to consider whether the big expansion of unemployment insurance has increased joblessness. In 2009 the Obama Administration and Congress extended jobless benefits for up to 99 weeks. The point was to help people through the recession, but now the jobless rate is 7%, down from 10%, and the White House still wants
Media: Russian ruler Vladimir Putin dissolved his state news agency on Monday, apparently for being insufficiently fawning. President Obama doesn´t have to worry about that with the dominant media here. The ex-KGB officer ruling an eighth of the planet´s inhabited land for nearly a decade and a half now, with no end in sight thanks to rigged elections, has abolished RIA Novosti and replaced it with a kind of reborn Radio Moscow. "Radio Putin," as it should be called, will propagandize to the rest of the world. RIA actually described the purge it is victim of as heralding "a tightening of state
Hysteria: The British Daily Star reports that Britain is in for 30 years of extreme "killer winter storms" due to climate change. There is, of course, no way anyone can know this for sure. But that's never stopped the alarmists. (Snip) In its "Extreme Weather Events in Europe" report issued last week, the European Academies Science Advisory Council bedeviled the populace about a future of deadly heat waves, floods, droughts and deep freezes. The report, which is the basis for the Daily Star's eye-catching journalism, suggests that individual member states of the European Union "will need to develop and share information
Propaganda: A lesson plan for third-graders linked to a controversial federal education initiative makes sure America´s next generation does not forget who is the one we have been waiting for. During the Soul Train Awards in 2012, comedian and actor Jamie Foxx exhorted a wildly cheering crowd to "first of all (give) honor to god, and our lord and savior Barack Obama," exhibiting the all-too-widespread hero worship that casts rational thought aside and labels even legitimate criticism as virtual blasphemy. The same cult of personality is creeping into lesson plans and reading materials being created under the guise of the platform for
I read at Breitbart that the Satan-worshipping group Satanic Temple wants its very own statue outside the Oklahoma Statehouse in Oklahoma City alongside a Ten Commandments monument. USA Today reports that the Republican legislature invited such insidious activity by authorizing the privately funded Ten Commandments statue on the Capitol grounds. If they were to decline the commission of a Satanic icon, it could constitute an unconstitutional infringement on the First Amendment. The ACLU has already filed a lawsuit for the removal of the monument. As Lucien Greaves, the spokesman for Satanic Temple,
TWO THINGS ALL conservatives love are narratives of decline and talking about conservatism. Put those together and you have the popular argument that conservatism ain’t what it used to be. The chart of that supposed decline, if you were to draw it Ascent of Man style, would start with Edmund Burke looking intelligent and walking upright, followed by William F. Buckley as Australopithecus, slouching. The present age would be represented by some knuckle-dragging, prognathous creature like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity. First comes very smart, then pretty smart, and then not very smart at all. Some of those on the right
DOHA, Qatar -- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has ordered the U.S. military to transport troops from Burundi into the Central African Republic to help quell the latest upsurge in violence there. Hagel approved the order after speaking with French Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian Monday night from Afghanistan where he was visiting troops. Le Drian asked the U.S. to help get African troops quickly into the country to prevent the violence there from spreading, said Pentagon spokesman Carl Woog. There are more than 1,000 French troops in the Central African Republic, where Christian armed fighters launched an attack
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
