Pollster John Zogby reports in our weekly White House report card that President Obama is coming off one of his worst weeks. "I am not an ideologue. I call it as I see it. The week President Obama just finished sucked. The Obama administration created the fiscal cliff, has used it as a bludgeon, has ´Chicken Littled´ about its impact, and now says it is only a bump, not a cliff. Their message now is, ´never mind.´ Add to that the White House is threatening a venerable journalist like Bob Woodward? This is, no matter how you cut it,
Zippy´s team will start manufacturing crises to make sure that there is pain. E Repubs will gleefully go along. Neither side wants the Americanublic to know that if we cut spending, it could be done to only cause them pain, not us. The house of cards they´ve built about their own importance is imploding a little bit more each day as the nation isn´t crashing around us (simply slowly crumbling). The armor is starting to show chinks where their complicity in problem is evident.
They aren´t really cuts, just a 2.4% reduction of the 7% automatic budget annual increase. It means we´ll only increase spending 4.5% in 2013 rather than the base line increase of 7%. Also because Obummer has control of the cuts, he can make them seem cataclysmic by applying them to firemen, policemen, teachers and programs directly affecting those truly in need. He can do that rather than cut some of the duplicity found in our bureaucracy or some of the pork that is crammed into our annual budgets, cuts relatively painless and potentially permanent.
Really enjoyed your faux soul searching there, John. Don´t worry, you only have a few more months and the 2014 midterms will be in full swing. Then you´ll be able to get back to your real passion - helping to defeat the GOP by telling America that we really like Obama because he´s a nice guy. I have almost as much use for Zogby as I do for Rove , Morris or Luntz.
While an abusive partner may look bad to an objective observer, no objective observer exists in our MSM. Therefore this display of willful dishonesty and abuse of power only builds Barky´s acceptable level of tyranny.
"Look what you have made me have to do to you now."
Tyrants torture their citizens because it works.
Ask a hard question and get a few thousand convicts released in your city.
Ask a hard question and I will fire all the meat inspectors.
Woodward could be the subject of his next book. The Obama the MSM Hid From America... starting with the real nuggets he previously wouldn´t write about & concluding with his own debasement by the WH & MSM sheep, for telling the truth.
Notice how Zogby covers his a** with congress i.e, (Republicans) "isn´t liked either." So both sides are equally to blame. Obama is driving us off the cliff as fast as he can and those rascally republicans are trying to take his foot off the accelerator and both parties are equally to blame. Go figure.
But the sky really is falling this time! Too bad he learned Marxist fairy tales (The Grim ones) instead of the ones from Grimm. And the wolf really is at the door, and no one is listening. Our grandchildren have been provided with a debt they can never pay off. What a wonderful sweetheart this zippy is!
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
A stunning new poll of young adults aged 18 to 29 shows that in large numbers, they have turned against President Obama and ObamaCare. Among the youngest in this group, those aged 18-24, a full 52% support a recall effort that would throw Obama out of office. The number is only a little better among 18-29 year-olds, 47%. Individual members of Congress actually fare a little better with 45% of Millennials favoring a recall. A majority do, however, favor recalling Congress as a whole. Since his reelection, Obama´s overall approval with young adults has plummeted 11 points to just 41%;
SPRINGFIELD — Illinois lawmakers narrowly approved a historic, sweeping overhaul of government worker pension systems Tuesday, overcoming years of political and philosophical differences in an attempt to address one of the state´s most pressing financial problems. The collective exhale from the state´s political leaders may be short-lived, however. Even before Gov. Pat Quinn carries through with his promise to sign the bill, unions are prepping a lawsuit to try to overturn it. They contend the benefit cuts are unconstitutional and unfair to employees and retirees. Supporters hailed the bill as a solution that would "ensure retirement security" for current and
If you need a minute to scrape your brain from the ceiling, go ahead, because this is quite stunning. This Friday, conservative commentator and Crossfire co-host S.E. Cupp is guest-hosting Piers Morgan Live, and her guest for the full hour is Glenn Beck. On CNN. That’s right, this is actually happening on a non-Fox News network. Beck’s been making the media rounds to promote his new book Miracles and Massacres, even returning to his old Fox stomping grounds to go one-on-one with Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity. But this time, Beck is taking an even farther walk down memory lane,
Are students getting smarter or is college just getting easier–even at Ivy League heavyweight Harvard? That’s the question on the minds of Harvard professors today after the school announced that the most frequently awarded grade is an A. Dean of Undergraduate Education Jay M. Harris told the Harvard Crimson this week A is the most frequent grade and A- is the median grade. Harvard released the grades in response to a question by professor Harvey C. Mansfield, who has long disparaged “grade inflation.” The professor was quoted in the Crimson as saying the high grades are “indefensible” and represent “a failure
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Wednesday defended the legislative record of the House, saying it passed nearly 150 bills aimed at boosting job creation, all of which have been blocked by Senate Democrats. On the House floor, Boehner said House Republicans had passed several bills to ease federal regulations, allow for more energy independence, and scale back or eliminate ObamaCare. He also noted bills aimed at reforming job training programs, boosting protection from cyber attacks, and helping schools recruit and keep good teachers. "Every single one of these bills have been blocked by Washington Democrats," Boehner said. "The Senate and
When Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a “slut” the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks went ballistic, making the conservative talk show host a centerpiece in their campaign to tarnish Mitt Romney and the GOP as engaging in a “war on women.” However when MSNBC’s Martin Bashir launched his own war on women against Sarah Palin, not a single anchor or reporter from the Big Three said a word about his vile attack. In the two weeks (February 29, 2012 - March 14, 2012) after Limbaugh made his crude Fluke joke, that he apologized for, the Big Three networks aired
The nation’s view of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, colored by the horrific Benghazi assassination of the U.S. ambassador to Libya on her watch, has suddenly turned upside down, with more now holding an unfavorable opinion of the likely 2016 presidential candidate. A new YouGov/Economist poll found Clinton, whose approval ratings have typically been sky high, with an unfavorable rating of 48 percent, more than the 46 percent who have a favorable opinion of her. The YouGov pollsters said that the change in American attitudes toward Clinton "suggests that negative press surrounding the tragic
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Bill Clinton, the cliché goes, was the first black president, no matter his skin color. That being the case, Barack Obama is not the first black president, or the first African-American president, if you prefer, but the first hippie president. Clinton’s southern background and lifestyle were indeed more typically black, just as Obama’s was more typically hippie. And we’re not just talking about the “Choom gang” here, scarfing “Maui Wowie” on the sands of Oahu. We’re talking about all of it, the whole multi-culti-missing-white-mother-vanished-Kenyan-father-anti-imperialist-America-is-always-the-enemy-and-don’t-you-forget-it-nine-yards. And like most hippie culture as I knew and experienced it, it wasn’t about “peace and love.” Not
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
