Christie calls for better
GOP relations with Latinos

Governor Christie called on the Republican Party to make more of an effort to reach out to Latino voters in a speech Thursday morning accepting a Latino advocacy group’s endorsement in New Brunswick. “We cannot expect to get support from the Latino community if we do not make the Latino community feel welcome and important in our party,” Christie said, urging his party to abandon rhetoric alienating immigrants and Hispanics, calling them “people of hard work, of great aspirations. Christie has positioned himself as a candidate who can reach across traditional party lines, and more than 70 percent of Latino

Comments:
Gov. Creosote urges Republicans to play preferential politics based on racial and cultural differences, just as the Dems do, rather than embracing liberty and prosperity for us all, as Americans.

In for a penny, in for 400lbs. I see.

Keep talking Christie and confine yourself to Jersey forever.

Would Christie ever say this? “We cannot expect to get support from the ´conservative´community if we do not make the ´conservative´community feel welcome and important in our party,”

I rest my case.

Sorry, but as long as the Demon-RATS are willing to give most minority groups more free stuff, they will continue to buy their loyalty.

I´m not overly fond of Governor Christie, but he is only stating the obvious. Of course, we need better relations with Latinos. I don´t see why some would consider the recognition of such a basic fact as "pandering". Who knows, we may eve get a few of their votes if we stop telling them they´re not real Americans and that we don´t like them.

Anyone who thinks by giving lawbreakers amnesty we will get their votes is delusional. Christie will never get my vote. Let him stay in NJ where they love him.

Ah yes, the Myth of the Conservative Latino, following on the heels of the wildly-successful Myth of the Blacks Who Are Opposed to Gay Marriage and Who Are a Natural Republican Constituency. Keep digging, GOP.

The trouble with "reaching out" is that you´re always expected to have a wad of other folks´ cash in it. The Democrats have cornered that market.

Let Christie be Christie. It´s working for him. No use trying to punish him or ostracize him. That just makes him more easily manipulated by the enemy camp. He was never all that conservative anyway and he thoroughly enjoys being the bad boy. As they say about Mary´s lambs: Leave them alone and they´ll come home, wagging their tails behind them.

Yes, but do the Latinos want better relations with the GOP? That´s the question for me.

Exactly what does the Republican party do that
makes Latinos feel unwelcome and unimportant. Let´s ask Mr Cruz and Mr Rubio. They might have a better handle on it. Gov Christie made a great A>G> in NJ. He should have kept his day job.

As for #8, the illegals are NOT Americans and yes, I do not like law breakers. As for legal Latinos, I welcome them with open arms but not with handouts.

Listen, folks. Included in the word "Latinos" are, yes, illegals, but much more importantly, good solid Hispanic citizens. This is the group Christie speaks of. Some of them have lived here legally for generations. They serve in the military. They are your friends and neighbors. One poster says, no, they are not Americans. Yes, they are, as good Americans as any of us. No wonder they distrust the GOP. We lump them in with illegals without any attempt to understand the difference. At #8, I made no mention nor did I intend my comment to be about illegals. We have to learn to discuss Hispanic citizens and illegals differently. They are not the same thing.

A second ´house of horrors´ abortion clinic is being investigated in Texas, just days after Dr Kermit Gosnell was found guilty of murdering newborns at his Philadelphia termination center. Houston doctor Douglas Karpen is accused by four former employees of delivering live fetuses during third-trimester abortions and killing them by either snipping their spinal cord, stabbing a surgical instrument into their heads or ´twisting their heads off their necks with his own bare hands´. Other times the fetus was so big he would have to pull it out of the womb in pieces, Karpen´s ex-assistant, Deborah Edge, said

President Francois Hollande will decide by the end of July whether France should impose new taxes on technology giants like Apple and Google to finance cultural projects, a move that could feed into an anti-business image days after a spat with Yahoo!. The Socialist government asked former Canal Plus CEO Pierre Lescure to find new ways of funding culture during an economic downturn, in line with France´s "cultural exception" argument that such projects must be shielded from market forces. While far from becoming laws, the proposals could worsen tension between France and technology giants after Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg

Montgomery, Alabama – Acting state Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy Worley lowered her head and slowly shook it side to side when summing up the financial condition of her once powerful party. "We´re broke, broke, broke," Worley told the party´s Executive Board in a special called meeting Frida. How broke is broke? Worley didn´t sugar coat the answer. "This is my 18th day as chair and thirty minutes after I took over on April 22nd the landlord of the building where our party headquarters are came in and said he wanted us out, that the rent was overdue and was always overdue,"

Trenton — Police officials are examining the response to a 911 call Sunday night that left a city man struggling with an intruder at his building without any officers arriving. Dan Dodson said it was 20 or 30 minutes before two officers eventually arrived in response to his wife’s calls to police telephone numbers. “We’re looking into it to determine if the proper protocols were followed,” Lt. Steve Varn said yesterday evening. Yesterday, Dodson said he was deciding where to buy a baseball bat in case someone else was able to slip into his home. He believes one of the two

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
