I presume everyone remembers how when the New York Times published information about a classified program designed to track the movement of alleged terrorist funding through the international banking system Bush administration officials threatened to prosecute Times reporters and management over what they had done? No you don´t, because although some conservatives and Republicans thought it might be a worth considering it didn´t happen. You can guarantee that if it had, it would have become a TV-radio-newspaper-Internet establishment press obsession for days on end.

Wonder how many times the WH has tried this on other reporters?

I smell bad blood in the water of Washington.

If any writer could bring down the 0bama Circus Bob is the man.

Interesting and what a way to bookend a career. Start with Nixon, wrap it up with his kindred spirit, Obama.
Woodward has to see the similarities and Obama is such a target rich environment.
The majority of the current crop of news persons aren´t fit to carry Woodward´s shoes. He´s the Dean, the legend, the Walter Cronkite if you will. No one has the gravitas (rightly or wrongly) that he does.
What did you do President Obama? What did you do to get Woodward coming after you?
It should be a very interesting few weeks.

The Obama White House would never threaten anyone for criticizing the Administration.
Just ask Mr Carney and he will clarify the matter for you.

The White House felt comfortable threatening Woodward. This is a cowed press.

Woodward is now alone. He doesn´t like the right wing press. Now the left wing press doesn´t like him. It´s a very bad feeling to know you are alone.

I was excited when I first read this. Then I noted #4 and #5´s posts. Now I´ve got that queasy feeling in my tummy.

Bob, you might want to stay out of parking garages this time around. And don´t plan any late night picnics in Fr. Marcy Park either. Consider traveling in pairs, with your friend armed. Have you considered hiring a food tester?

A man of courage and integrity. The WH might have picked on the wrong guy.

Reply 10 - Posted by: Scout Finch, 2/28/2013 12:38:51 AM     (No. 9200157)

Ok. Now I´m thinking, maybe Bob Woodward´s the guy to bring down THIS administration. He has no loyalties to anyone. CNN, FOX, or anyone. I´m all ears.

Reply 11 - Posted by: ColonialAmerican1623, 2/28/2013 1:04:15 AM     (No. 9200163)

Does anyone think Bob dare cross the Won or ValJar ?

Remember when Hannity kept saying he was going to expose Zippy and it didn´t happen ?
(Hannity said he reads L.com. We still want to hear the story)

When LSM jumps on the bandwagon, let me know.

Obama is out of control. And you wonder why we conservatives will NEVER surrender our firearms, AR-15s, and high capacity magazines under any circumstances? The Good Germans in the liberal intelligentsia support our liberal Democratic Hitler president 100%. Our little Hitler president likes to threaten people - especially American citizens. American citizens who are patriotic are anathema to our Hitler President. Much like the Emperor in Star Wars, our own Obama Emperor is going to show his true colors. And when he does, watch out for venom and vitriol. I support Woodward 100% in what he is doing to call evil Obama out. It is time we realize little Obama may be as evil as Hitler and the Star Wars Emperor, but he isn´t as smart and he isn´t as hard-working. And we are going to kick his little Chicago pitooty back to the sewer he came from.

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

Meet the Women for Weiner. The former congressman, who apologized for the lewd picture scandal that ended his House career before launching a bid last month for New York City mayor, is holding a fundraiser hosted by “Women for Anthony” next week at the Manhattan home of an education activist and philanthropist. The host committee is led by his wife, Huma Abedin, and includes her sister, Heba; Rory Tahari, wife of designer Elie Tahari; and Cheryl Saban, the wife of California-based mega-donor Haim Saban, who funded a short film lauding Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

Known as the City of the Century, it was once the centre of the country´s booming steel industry. But now Gary, Indiana, lies in ruins as a tragic example of American industrial decline. Authorities are desperately looking at new ways to combat the city´s crippling recession - one possiblity could be halving its size. Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson believes letting vast expanses of the city, founded in 1906 by the US Steel Corporation, return to nature might be a solution. ´I’d like to see 100,000 folks in Gary. That’d be great,´ the mayor said reported NBC News.

News reports from the final debate between Democrat Ed Markey and Republican Gabriel Gomez conclude that Gomez, a first-time candidate and self-styled "new kind of Republican," delivered a strong performance. With just days left in the campaign before the June 25 special election for Senate, Gomez has trailed Markey, a 37-year veteran of the House, in every single poll. Markey currently leads by average of more than 9 points. But in the debate Tuesday night, Gomez hit Markey hard on the Democrat´s long Washington tenure, a running theme in the Republican´s campaign. The Obama administration has reportedly tried to enlist the NBA in helping it sell Obamacare to the American people. It’s unclear whether a potential marketing partnership would put big-name players at the center of ad campaigns or if it would be as simple as putting the NBA trademark on marketing materials, Politico first reported today. People can begin signing up for Obamacare in October, with the new insurance coverage kicking in next year. Many have speculated that the enrollment campaigns would benefit from a celebrity endorsement or partnership with a major sports league.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
