Smokey and the Bandit IV-Smuggling
soda past Bloomberg T. Injustice

LOS ANGELES —“Eastbound and Down, loaded up and trucking…We’re gonna do what they say can’t be done… We got a long way to go, and a short time to get there…Eastbound for another Bandit run.” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has now been warned. If he thought the Boston Tea Party and 1776 were revolutions, just try and restrict access to soda in 2013. The Founding Fathers rebelled against a tax. Bloomberg wants an outright ban. Not in this lifetime. In 1977, Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed were not going to let restrictive laws on alcohol

Comments:
This is pretty funny and a nice departure from all the serious things we are dealing with.

One of my favorite movies. What makes it even funnier is that my old minister at the church I met my wife (Manhattan Church of Christ, 80th and Madison Ave) looked just like Buford T. Justice.

Bloomberg T. Injustice.

Awesome. Brilliant.

Why doesn´t anyone care to mention that large diet drinks are not banned? An inconvenient truth?

"We’re Americans. We’re citizens. We have a right to tell our government to leave us the heck alone...."

Not just soda but a whole lot of other things. It´s time we told those politicians that they have really overstepped the bounds.

This made my morinig a little better - one of my favorites. Reminds me of some of the fun we had during the 2008 campaign with "Joe the Plumber, country western support & Tea Party speeches. Too bad Clint Eastwood was the only good part of the 2012 campaign - think I will write Tom Selleck this year. Don´t lose your sense of humor or start a 3rd Party - stay with Rand Paul, Ted Cruz & Rubio.

All kidding aside (and I enjoyed this article), New Yorkers keep voting for these nutballs. Thrice, I believe. Look in the mirror, fools.

Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry and Taco Doritos are on the way.

Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry is the best soda on earth.

Democrats defend IRS official´s
Constitutional rights to stay mum

Key Democrats say Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner didn´t give up her Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination by giving an opening statement at a House hearing on Wednesday. Democrats on the Oversight panel said they want Lerner to testify about the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, and are not defending her decision to invoke the Fifth Amendment. But Lerner’s Constitutional rights are clear, the Democrats argue, and committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) will be wasting the panel’s time and resources waging a losing battle against her attorneys while the FBI conducts

CHARLOTTE, NC - The woman at the center of a scandal that helped bring down the director of the CIA said she is sorry about what happened. Paula Broadwell told TV station WSOC in Charlotte that she regrets how her affair with David Petraeus affected others. "I have remorse for the harm that this has caused, the sadness it has caused my family and other families," Broadwell said in the first sit down interview since the scandal broke six months ago. Broadwell, who now works with charities involving veterans, said she credits her support network for keeping

Former 2012 presidential candidate Jon Huntsman is forming a new PAC dedicated to helping elect like-minded Republican candidates across the country. Huntsman says he’s undecided on his future plans and the 2016 race, but the new Red Rock PAC will give him a perch from which to speak and travel — as well as give him access to a network of candidates, donors and potential future surrogates for any presidential candidacy. “It’s way early,” Huntsman told POLITICO about the 2016 race. “For this year and next year, it will be more about talking about

Poll: Brutal numbers for Obamacare

Last month, a Kaiser Foundation poll pegged Obamacare’s public support at a tepid 35 percent. A new survey from Fox News confirms that finding. Asked if they’d rather to keep the new law in place or erase it from the history books and revert back to the 2009 system, Americans say they’d strongly prefer turning back the clock: 22. Do you think it would be better to leave the new health care law in place, or would it be better to go back to the health care system that was in place in 2009? Better to keep law:

The Washington Post carried a huge, almost life-size picture of Jay Carney’s head in the Style section on Friday. But it was designed as a pick-me-up for the embattled Obama spinner. It was a story about...Carney and his favorite rock band. “Benghazi and the IRS have kept Carney scrambling, and he hasn’t had much time to listen to ‘English Little League,’ the latest album from the Ohio indie-rock band [Guided by Voices] he has affectionately name-dropped in more than one news briefing.” Critics want Carney canned, but the Post wants him to feel happy about the “beer-soaked brilliance”

Washington - Republican Gov. Chris Christie doesn´t have politics on his mind ahead of President Barack Obama´s visit to his state next week. Unsurprisingly the New Jersey firebrand said he is focused on his job as governor and will welcome Obama to the state roughly seven months after superstorm Sandy hit the East Coast. "If the president wants to come back here and see the progress himself, I never worry about that stuff," Christie said Friday morning on NBC´s "Today." "I worry about doing my job." The first-term governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate received national

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping
