As usual, the troll king offers bad advice to LDotters. What do the Republicans gain by consenting to a truly bad candidate such as Hagel? I´m not suggesting that they should oppose everyone Obama nominates (because, in truth, he will never nominate a worthy person, and opposing all his nominees will appear inflexibly partisan). But you have to push back when it´s appropriate. Voting against Hagel would have been good practice for the Senate Republicans before Obama attempts to stack the SCOTUS with more leftists. A better strategy would be to make a clear, convincing case before the American people for why you oppose a nominee.
