Rapper Chuck D. On CNN: ‘Since
Reagan And Bush, There’s Been
Nothing But Guns And Drugs In
The Black Community’

Original Article

Hip hop artist Chuck D., famous for his work with the group Public Enemy, appeared on CNN with Carol Costello to discuss the impact that the slaying of Trayvon Martin had on the nation one year later. Chuck D. told Costello, that when he was growing up, there were no guns in the black community. However, after 1980 and the rise of the Ronald Reagan/George Bush-era, he says that “there’s been nothing but guns and drugs in the black community.” Costello asked Chuck D. for his thoughts on the killing of Martin.

Comments:
Oh sigh. And the filthy, misogynistic, gangsta lyrics glorifying murder, rape and crime had no effect on the black youths in this country. CNN sure has improved since Jeff Zucker has arrived. s/o

So a lack of personal responsibility and accountability have nothing to do with the increases in crime and drugs. That answers my question. I didn´t know that it was all Reagan´s fault. Bush I understood, but Reagan? Geesh! /s

I know exactly where Chuck D grew up. I grew up in the town right next to his (North Merrick). I know the area very well. I don´t recall Ronald Reagan or either George Bush ever being there, nevermind handing out guns and drugs.

However, I do recall that Roosevelt (where he´s from) was considered to be a dangerous place for law abiding folks to be well before Ronald Reagan was ever elected president, and definitely before (if Chuck D is to be believed) Reagan would sneak out of the White House, take the Metroliner to Penn Station, jump on an LIRR train to Freeport and stroll around at night handing out pistols and Crack cocaine like Santa Claus.

And oh yeah - did the guns and violence stop during Clinton´s terms? And then pick up where it left off after Reagan?

And which Bush?

Forget it, I don´t really care what a two-bit no-name Obama-supporting fool has to say.

And a huge percentage of the "Black Community" has, enthusiastically and without the slightest hint of self-restraint, fully embraced both guns and drugs.

Also, nothing but degenerate and violent "Hip Hop" as well.

He may be right, but not for the reason he thinks. The ´Great Society,´ which subsidized out of wedlock births and fatherless homes, had its first generation come of age during the 1980s. The guns and drugs coincided with Reagan/Bush I, but Chick D. needs to dig a little deeper.

My husband and I haven´t been able to visit the neighborhoods where our parents grew up on the west and south sides of Chicago since the ´60´s.

That´s when they pulled our grandparents out and moved them in with our families.

You ask yourself, both about King Hussein Obama and this fool, you ask yourself, is he that stoopid? Or is he just a compulsive liar?

Stupid or liar?

Call me a racist. I dont care. Too many APIA´s (African People in America) for me. They hate whitey and they hate my beloved America!!! Look at all the trouble they cause, all the stoopid things they say and do, all the murders and violence and billions of dollars in wasted government aid.If the "good" ones wont speak out against them, like the silent Muslims wont speak out against terrorism, then doesnt that make THEM the real racists? The real whitey-haters? I´ve got an answer to solve it all but again, you´d call me a racist.

The word "rap" is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. So many stoopid people, even dumbass young white idiots, think that it is "music", when it really isnt music at all, is a lot of angry yelling, posturing, posing, and suggesting much violence, mostly against white guys like ME. I HATE it! This stoopid fool doesnt hate Reagan and Bush as much as I hate HIM. If Civil war 2 ever breaks out, look out man!

It started with Kennedy and Johnson. I grew up in Oakland Calif. in the 50´s and 60´s.

Just like #18 said, people who lived in a nice neighborhood, were forced to move because of the wave of lawlessness that took over. Retired people were attacked in their homes so often the Tribune wouldn´t even report it. If a crime was reported on they wouldn´t print the description of the prep.

This all was happening when the Black Panthers were giving out coloring books to the kiddies, showing the police as pigs, and attacking black people. They would call in a crime in progress somewhere in the Oakland hills, and then when the police helicopter would fly over, they would start shooting at the helicopter. Now my old neighborhood is called "the killing zone". Nothing new here.

This is character is actually on to something - but it is not what he thinks. For not too many years before Reagan and Bush, foul mouthed, obscene "artists" like him would have been arrested and charged with public indecency. And the producers and distributors of their trash would have met the same fate. It was simply unthinkable to permit such toxic, antisocial garbage free access to the public space and the minds of children.

But thanks to the Left´s fearless defense of free speech -unfortunately restricted to pornography, bad language, public obscenity, burning American flags and mocking Christianity- the longstanding legal barriers against the values and language of the Chuck D.´s of the nation were abolished. The rest is history.

Guys like Chuck D. are dim bulbs who cleaned up by poisoning and degrading the culture, especially that of the most vulnerable, at-risk children and neighborhoods. They are not the only ones to cash in on this depravity. A self-respecting society would never have allowed them to get away with what they have done. But now, adding insult to injury, Chuck D. -a real piece of work, someone for America and the human race to be proud of- blames Republicans for the consequences of his dirty, nasty, antisocial work.

Way to go, Chuck.

Researchers at Princeton and Northwestern universities have pored over 1,800 US policies and concluded that America is an oligarchy. Instead of looking out for the majority of the country’s citizens, the US government is ruled by the interests of the rich and the powerful, they found. No great surprises there, then. But the government is not the only American power whose motivations need to be rigourously examined. Some 2,400 miles away from Washington, in Silicon Valley, Google is aggressively gaining power with little to keep it in check. It has cosied up to governments around the world so effectively that its chairman,

Then-Sens. Joe Biden and John Kerry were both opposed to Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health-care reform program, according to documents released by the Clinton presidential library. Clinton marked a handwritten “No” beside Biden’s name on Clinton’s list of Capitol Hill lawmakers that she needed to win over for her universal health care law, known as the “Clinton health plan” or “Hillarycare,” to pass. John Kerry, meanwhile, was marked with a “Probably not.” “Hillarycare” ended up dying in the Democratic-controlled Senate in 1994 without coming to a floor vote. But the French aristocrat and American think tanker have the measure of the federal behemoth in the age of Obama. Writing in 1835, Tocqueville eloquently predicted how it would function, while Crews today supplies in his annual compilation of federal rules and regulations, “10,000 Commandments,” the hard numbers that describe the behemoth´s contemporary reach and costs. It is always worthwhile to revisit de Tocqueville’s description of what he called the

Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent.
