Former Gov. Tom Ridge joined 37 prominent political figures at that U.S. Capitol Monday calling for policymakers to figure climate change into national security strategy “The U.S. national security community, including leaders from the military, homeland security, and intelligence, understand that climate change is a national security threat,” Ridge said. “They´re not talking about whether or not it is occurring – it is," Ridge said.

Ridge was a joke when he worked for Bush and nothing has changed. How can the weather be considered a national security threat? It´s people that cause threats, not nature. The world get worse everyday with people like Ridge joining the warmer crowd when there´s plenty of new proof that climate change is just part of a weather cycle.

Weather has "changed" on a daily basis ever since I can remember. My personal extremes have been 105 degrees fahrenheit riding a bus in the Bronx in 1955 and -15 degrees fahrenheit with wind out of the northwest for a wind chill effect of -75 degrees fahrenheit in the Catskill mountains in 1980.

We used to call them ´seasons´.

Now we call them ´climate change´.

It is nothing more than another gummint hustle, like food stamps, EBT, and Head Start (Boot camp for the Welfare State).

Global warmists claim that the earth has warmed 3/4ths of a degree Celsius (1.3 degrees Fahrenheit). Almost all of this they claim happened prior to 1970. They claim there has been none for 16 years. So, in other words, even according to the alarmists, the world got a degree warmer before most of the people on it were born, then stopped. The ´hottest year on record´ thing is supposed to be a matter of hundredths of a degree. They claim this one degree difference causes everything from murders to meteors. They were caught with emails discussing how to ´hide the decline´. Even if we take their word for all this, why should we all assume we are going to die from a single degree of temperature difference that happened 40 years ago?

Reply 14 - Posted by: rmagnus, 2/26/2013 8:15:35 AM     (No. 9196633)

The temperature is rising alright. Its from people like me seething with rage because we keep reading about all the oil this country now has because of fracking but the price of gas continues to skyrocket. The environmentalist wackos like Ridge won´t let us get to the oil and refine it so everyone suffers.

“They´re not talking about whether or not it [anthropogenic global warming] is occurring – it is," Ridge said.
-----

That makes it a lot simpler. Leave it to a politician to solve the riddle of the global warming sphinx.

Is global warming really occurring? Is it significant? Is it man-caused? Can anything be done about it? Will the benefits of such action outweigh the costs and side effects?

Yes; yes; yes; yes; yes! Thus spake Tom Ridge and a room full of other politicians and bureaucrats who have no training in science and know nothing about the topic at hand.

They are not wasting precious time talking about whether global warming, with all its projected horrors, is occurring. They have concluded that it is occurring. They are not going to just stand there doing nothing, either. They are going to run in circles, scream and shout, warn and try to awaken the sleeping public, proclaim the danger, increase the spending, roll out the regulations, throttle back and choke down the economy, hold news conferences, apply for grants, hold meetings, send representatives, and do whatever they can to add to the confusion, foment the hysteria, agitate the populace, allocate resources, expand the government etc. etc. etc.

I know they mean well. Most of them, any way. But I wish they would get another hobby. Can´t they play golf or something? They could still get together and TALK to each other about the dread spectacle of global warming. They just need to stop forcing their pet personal peeve and hobby on the rest of us. It reminds me of those Christian evangelists who are always ringing the front door bell and handing out tracts. Nice people, but a bit of a bother.

We can always find an Anti-God angle to most of the liberal Democrat agenda. Climate change has it as well. The global warming crowd suggests that God might be able to create the earth but, by golly, man can destroy it. Take that, God! Amazing.

How many MORE of these kinds of prounouncements are we going to see in the coming days?

Republicans latching on to liberal ideologies in a sad attempt to gain political traction-- do they not know they are going to cut off their legs trying to out-lib the libs on junk science?

This "me too" notion that liberal republicans can do a better job of running things than the libs has got to stop! Why sell out integrity and soul for unproven ideas?

We were sold this bill of goods by the current regime and now look at how much graft and corruption have resulted with no improvement unless you were the Obamaboozlers "friends".

Bush 43 could have done the world a big favor if he had (just for fun) espoused AGW. The national meda and all the libs would have made sure to expose it for the hoax that it is.
Or even if Ridge has made these comments when he was at DHS. The topic would have been dead and buried by now.

The administration (1995-2001) of Pennsylvania’s Republican Gov. Tom Ridge stopped annual inspections of abortion clinics, according to the grand jury report on Dr. Kermit Gosnell, who is currently on trial in Philadelphia charged with the first-degree murder of seven born babies. Under Democratic Gov. Bob Casey Sr., who preceded Ridge, the state had conducted annual inspections of abortion clinics, the report said.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

During his interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl this morning, Rubio didn’t even seem to understand what that meant. “Are you being played by the Democrats?” asked Karl. “Is Chuck Schumer playing you?” “I don’t — I quite frankly, I don’t even know what that means,” Rubio replied. “Is he using you?” Karl continued. “Is he using you to try to accomplish something that the Democrats want and is not — not a conservative bill?” Rubio responded that immigration reform was a bi-partisan issue that “all Americans

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
