Hagel confirmation vote looms
despite myriad controversies

Associated Press, by Adam Kredo

Original Article

Posted By:Oblio, 2/26/2013 6:58:48 AM

A sharply divided Senate is scheduled to cast a final vote on the contested nomination of secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel Tuesday, ending a months-long battle that has centered on the nominee’s controversial past statements. Hagel, a former Republican Nebraska senator, faced criticism from Republicans and some Democrats immediately following his nomination by the president last month. Critics have accused Hagel of being anti-Semitic, overtly hostile to Israel, and cozy with Iran’s ruling regime, which has endorsed him.

McCai and Graham, the leading voices of opposition have thrown in the towel even though more revelations about Hagel taking money from terror groups comes out more every day.Hagel could wear a turbin to these hearings and still get approved.

When Calypso Louie comes out to support Hagel, everyone knows that Hagel is the wrong man for the Job!

Hagel should not be confirmed as secretary of defense. I cannot imagine anyone being confirmed after the disastrous hearings he had and the glowing endorsement from Iran, of all places... What stupid times we live in. Washington DC is further and further out of touch with common sense.

Is this how we protect our troops?

They deserve better.

Call your senator, especailly if he´s a dem.

Call Shelby´s office as well.

These aren´t just stupid times, they´re bizarro world, parallel universe times. Weird is normal. Good is evil. White is black. Everything has been turned upside down. And worst of all, we´re being forced by the cognoscenti to say this is the way it should be.

Well, I won´t. This isn´t just about an idiotic nominee. It´s really about whether we´re going to continue to capitulate to this insanity without a fight.

Hagel on Meet the Press - 2015

DAVID GREGORY: Today on Meet the Press, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel.
HAGEL: Morning, Dave.
GREGORY: Two years since you exposed yourself to the media, Mr. Secretary?
HAGEL: It was just that one time with the blonde from CNN, Dave.
GREGORY: You mothballed and quarantined the navy’s flattops, sir? Why?
HAGEL: The World Health Organization declared American imperialism a contagion, Dave. The ships were identified as carriers.
GREGORY: The Times reports you asked the U.N. to list America as a state sponsor of terrorism.
HAGEL: True, Dave. Cutting off their foreign markets will sink American firearms and ammunition manufacturers. There’s more than one way to skin the Second Amendment cat.
GREGORY: Comment on last year’s nuclear exchange between Iran and Israel.
HAGEL: Sure, the two countries are radioactive slag, now. But Iran and Israel are finally at peace.
GREGORY: Can we stop nuclear proliferation, sir?
HAGEL: Actually, we´re facilitating it to level the international playing field, Dave. I’ve distributed our entire stockpile of nukes to anyone out there who wanted one. It’s a logical extension of the president’s redistributionist views.
GREGORY: You held none back for ourselves?
HAGEL: No. We’ve shown we can’t be trusted with such power.
GREGORY: You’ve been advocating reconstitution of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact. Why?
HAGEL: The world was never safer than when America was checked by the Soviets.
GREGORY: Finally, what’s behind our new alliance with China that’s seen the port of Los Angeles become a naval base for the People’s Republic?
HAGEL: Concern about a newly militaristic Japan, Dave. Last thing we need is an Asian state with world designs.
GREGORY: Thanks for stopping by, Mr. Secretary.

The offering of Kerry and now Hagel are more of Ozero´s "in your face" moves, as are the Marxists and Islamists among his "czars."
Disgraceful for America.. but worse, evil and freedom-threatening.

It was reported a couple of weeks ag that more military in VA voted for the "won" than Romney in November. We also have two of the most liberal Senators , Warner and Kaine. The supposedly intelligent voters of my state, Virginia, elected them; many of those votes were from members of the military.
I served in the Army and grew up with a father who served in the Air Force for over twenty years. I want to feel bad for our military families but too many of them voted for the man in the WH and liberal Senators. They have brought this curse on US.

He´s anti/American through and through and WE the people have no chance with mc/cain and graham stumping for him....

The only question is: who drew the short straw? Between McCain, Graham, Rubio, Paul, someone will be the designated "no" vote, just to keep up appearances. It is all theater.

It is totally in character for the Indonesian in the WH to nominate this man, but if the Senate confirms him, there is no excuse in the world that they can turn to. Good luck getting recruits under this Secretary.

# 6 - very good !!

Hagel was chosen for one reason - To dismantle our military and destroy our ability to defend ourselves. ALIbama hates the military and one of his marxist goals is to weaken and ultimately destroy it.

Hagel has no more qualifications to be Secretary of Defense than Kerry has to be Secretary of State. ZERO !!

Any L-dotter who fails to call their Senators is complicit if Hagel gets this position. We may not have enough votes to stop him, but it´s simply wrong not to try, and that´s the message every Senator needs to hear.

Thank you #6 for homor to go along with how this man thinks. If and when UpChuck Hagel is confirmed he will be the worst SecDef since little Willy Cohen. I am glad that I´m retired from the Navy and don´t have to be under the command of the likes of Panetta, soon to be Hagel and the O´Clown. BTW is Calypso "Mother Wheel" Louis FarraCON likes Hagel you know something about him stinks.

After all the Kabuki posturing: he´ll be confirmed. As long as the current GOP leadership remains in place, the ultimate caving will continue. Definition of insanity, and all that.

As Hillary would say "What difference does it make?" We held up his confirmation for what? a week? He got a chance to work on his suntan. The result is the same. A totally unqualified candidate is confirmed. I had to hold my nose and vote for McCain. When is he retiring again?

Why are the dems so good at screwing us and the country and we truth tellers just suck?

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Political scientist Charles Murray has never backed away from controversy, but usually his opponents have been liberals. Friday, however, he managed to upset conservatives at the annual conference known as CPAC, where thousands of bewildered Republicans gathered to figure out the way forward after their party’s 2012 electoral defeat. Murray ditched his prepared remarks on “America Coming Apart” in favor of an impromptu admonition to fellow conservatives to accept the legalization of both gay marriage and abortion.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.
