| INDIANAPOLIS — Some welfare recipients would face drug testing under a proposal that’s been approved by the Indiana House. The House voted 78-17 on Monday to require all applicants for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to complete a written screening test for possible drug abuse problems. Those identified as possible drug abusers would need to undergo a drug test. Anyone failing that test would then have to take part in a treatment program to continue receiving benefit payments.

This should be a no brainer but the medical industry is already cracking down on innocent patients who are on certain classes of drugs, most notably pain meds and varieties of Xanax.The welfare crowd gets these at ease with taxpayer paying for them to be resold on the street.Where I live an Oxycotion pill goes for 20 bucks on the street.
There´s blocks on duplicated drugs at drug stores but no problem,just go pharmacy shopping.In a lot of cases they simply pay out of pocket for drugs to keep the meds out of the government´s database.
It´s just another example of good people being punished for the sins of the bad.
It won´t take long for the race baiters to claim this law targets minorities.

I had to take a bunch of norcos which are like oxycontin for dental surgery. They did relieve the pain.....along with putting me down for the count. I don´t get the recreational aspect of it. Being knocked out...I think that´s overrated.

Every state which has tried this has found that the costs of the testing exceeded the take from those getting welfare inappropriately.
Many people on welfare are disabled - either physically or mentally. Requiring them to go through repeated drug tests is a waste of taxpayer money.

All our House and Senate representatives including people in the Executive branch should be tested.
How many of them are on drugs of the different kind.

Even as his administration has faced intense scrutiny over a trio of controversies, President Obama’s approval rating hasn’t suffered, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released Sunday. Fifty-three percent of Americans said they approve of the job the president is doing, while 45 percent said they disapprove. That’s virtually unchanged from an early April survey in which Obama’s approval/disapproval split was 51 percent to 47 percent. The poll is one of the earliest indicators of how Obama’s image has been affected during one of the worst weeks of his presidency.

DAMASCUS, Va - At least 50 people were injured Saturday after a car struck a crowd of hikers in the Appalachian Trail Days parade in Damascus. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable.
