| An Investor´s Business Daily editorial on Friday confirmed a couple of items which seemed intuitively obvious but which I didn´t prove on Thursday in my post (at NewsBusters; at BizzyBlog) about the Department of Labor´s outrageous decision to grant unionized workers at now-liquidating Hostess Bakeries "Trade Adjustment Assistance" (TAA). The first is that it will cost a lot of money, totaling an amount which appears to have a chance to come within striking distance of about half of the annual profits in the entire commercial baking industry. The second is that there is little if any evidence supporting DOL´s finding

One man´s corruption is another man´s "business as usual". Or in this case the people´s business being done to us rather than for us. Unions need to be destroyed, the good they have done in the past for the people, does not give them the right to destroy our country.

Does the GOP have any lawyers? Just asking because the ACLU seems to sue everybody and everything they don´t like, which isn´t much, but from the GOP we get nothing.

More importantly, who showed up to oppose the process and speak for h taxpayer? Hostess? No they were bankrupt and do not care. Holder and his merry band of collectivists? Not a chance. The who?
Answer: absolutely no one to advocate against all the unions and hangers-on looking to tap the public till. No contest and no chance for the sad aparachnik in the NLRB Commentariat making the decision. The taxpayers were sunk before the process started.

Statism: Pope Francis seemed to have an economic blind spot, to say the least, when he urged more "state control" to cut global poverty Thursday. On the contrary — the biggest poverty-killer in history is free enterprise.Before we go further, let us say that we know that the pope does seem to have the best intentions and his devotion to the poor is indisputable. CARACAS, Venezuela Venezuela´s biggest food company on Monday hit back at President Nicolas Maduro´s claims that it´s to blame for the country´s persistent food shortages. The chief executive of Empresas Polar, Lorenzo Mendoza, rejected accusations by the president that the company has reduced production and is hoarding products to create scarcity. "The accusations that we are producing less than last year are false," Mendoza told reporters. "I presume that President Nicolas Maduro is not well informed about the situation and about what´s happening."

Venezuela in 2012 became a net importer of gasoline as a result of escalating problems at its refineries and increasing demand for fuel in its internal market, joining a growing list of countries that struggle with fuel supplies despite ample oil reserves. Venezuela exported 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) of gasoline and naphtha last year, according to state oil company PDVSA annual report. But it imported an average of 66,300bpd of the same fuels from the US alone, according to US energy department data.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued.
