| Capitalism Lives Here-The markets were pummeled Monday in the worst rout since November as traders fretted over the specter that Italian elections may not yield a government. Today´s Markets -The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 216 points, or 1.6%, to 13784, the S&P 500 slid 27.8 points, or 1.8%, to 1488 and the Nasdaq Composite slumped 45.6 points, or 1.4%, to 3116. The markets came under dramatic selling pressure in late trading on Monday. In a sign of how swift the action was, the VIX, seen as Wall Street´s fear gauge, surged 36% in its biggest jump since November.

I´m reminded of the 3% drop in the stock market the day after Ø got restored to the throne last November. The MSM concluded the Greek riots were the root cause.

Don´t worry, we just paid for a summit of G7 and G23 and they said everything was hunky dory. Especially hunky is the Eurozone where you can work a few hours a few days a week and be rich AND marvelously UnAmerican at the same time!
Afterall, how can anything bad happen when you have the US government led by a messiah issuing $85 billion a month and buying the debt from itself while promising trillions more in goodies for every deserving wretch on the planet?
Why, that is sheer growth and wealth on steroids and...why don´t you go out and buy a house and invest in stock instead of complaining?

Wall Stteet is rightfully worried; 0bama is printing 85 Billion Dollars a month; our dollars are becoming worthless, and everything you buy costs a whole lot more. America is deep into debt, the money we are spending is unsustainable, and no one seems to worry about it. 0bama just can´t stop spending. Well it is time to worry big time.

Government policy is a disaster, but bear in mind it´s the end of the month and a lot of people looking to register profits were getting out us soon as the tumble began.

Today´s 216-point stock-market drop was the worst since November 7th.
Which means that on the day it was announced that our 4th-quarter GDP fell .05% -- signifying a recession -- the DOW didn´t drop as much as it did today...because investors where worried about a temporarily unclear election outcome in Italy?!
Maybe a better explanation is that investors finished reading the Federal Reserve´s latest minutes over the weekend.

DAMASCUS, Va - At least 50 people were injured Saturday after a car struck a crowd of hikers in the Appalachian Trail Days parade in Damascus. SAN JOSE— For most Americans in the United States, Armed Forces Day is not on the lists of likely holidays to honor the country’s military in celebrations of Memorial Day or Veteran’s Day. Sadly, most Americans may not even realize that Armed Forces Day is even a legitimate holiday. Armed Forces Day was established to be celebrated on the third Saturday in May. Dorothy, the 14-year-old peregrine falcon that since 2002 has nested on a 40th-floor ledge of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland, was perched on the limestone railing next to that nest and her lone chick shortly before 9 a.m. Friday. She´d just fed the 22-day-old chick a small bird for breakfast. "Baltimore oriole ... again," said Kate St. John, who blogs about the city´s peregrines. Someone else watching from the office inside the window next to the nest said it looked like Dorothy was calmly "chilling." Ms. St. John´s response was that nothing could be further from the truth.

WASHINGTON — An Internal Revenue Service watchdog testified Friday that he told Obama administration officials in June that he was looking into allegations the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. The revelation by Inspector General Russell George came at the first congressional hearing on the IRS misconduct, which has generated a political firestorm since it was disclosed a week ago. George’s testimony represented the first evidence that officials in the Obama administration knew of the allegations as long as a year ago, during the presidential campaign.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
