San Francisco — A Sacramento man was arrested early Monday after he shot up a man´s Western Addition home with an automatic rifle, San Francisco police said. Kareem Benton, 42, got into an argument Sunday night with another man on the 1000 block of McAllister Street and followed the man to his home nearby, said Officer Albie Esparza, a police spokesman. Benton then pulled out a fully automatic AK-47 and "sprayed" the man´s home with bullets just after 7:30 p.m., Esparza said. The victim, who was in his home, was shot in the leg and is expected to survive.

Read the officer´s refreshing comment in the last line of the article. Think he´ll face a reprimand?

Okay- we all know automatic weapons- fully auto are machine guns! Are illegal. And no large capacity magazines are allowed in Californian- much less San Francisco! And!- Assault weapons all have to be licensed in California- So, we can all be assured this is just a fake story. Could not be real! Californian has made this kind of thing illegal for many, many years!

sc/off!

The article doesn`t state how anyone knows it was an AK-47. If it is indeed that weapon, the article should state whom in the police dept. confirmed it was that weapon.

Of course the government wants the home-owner to have a low-capacity magazine in any gun he owns, so he may be disarmed when he stops to reload. In this case, the one who would be disarming him was intent on murder.

So whose side is the government on?

To paraphrase that prosecutor who got hammered by Sotomayor, you´ve got an AK-47 and a guy named Kareem...wouldn´t you suspect trouble is afoot?

Re #7, I prefer the Frank Zappa vision of Summer-of-love ´Frisco:

First I´ll buy some beads
And then perhaps a leather band
To go around my head
Some feathers and bells
And a book of Indian lore
I will ask the Chamber Of Commerce
How to get to Haight Street
And smoke an awful lot of dope
I will wander around barefoot
I will have a psychedelic gleam in my eye at all times
I will love everyone
I will love the police as they kick the s*** out of me on the street
I will sleep . . .
I will, I will go to a house
That´s, that´s what I will do
I will go to a house
Where there´s a rock & roll band
´Cause the groups all live together
And I will join a rock & roll band
I will be their road manager
And I will stay there with them
And I will get the crabs
But I won´t care

In addition to being illegal to own without paying ungodly taxes, full auto is nearly useless. It guarantees you will miss your target with most if not all of your bullets and possibly hit unintended targets. Spray and pray is the tactic of fools.
It is far better to use semi auto and actually aim. Thats what those little holes on top of the gun are for. They work.

Wow - maybe they should ban those guns! Oh, wait - - - they have been banned for almost 80 years.

Another example of the efficacy of gun control laws. IF (a big if, I am skeptical)
this was a machinegun version, it has been very tightly controlled since 1934.

Even if it is a garden variety semiauto look alike, the gun and magazines are illegal in California.

Those gun control laws, sure do work. (sarcasm off)

A second ´house of horrors´ abortion clinic is being investigated in Texas, just days after Dr Kermit Gosnell was found guilty of murdering newborns at his Philadelphia termination center. Houston doctor Douglas Karpen is accused by four former employees of delivering live fetuses during third-trimester abortions and killing them by either snipping their spinal cord, stabbing a surgical instrument into their heads or ´twisting their heads off their necks with his own bare hands´. Other times the fetus was so big he would have to pull it out of the womb in pieces, Karpen´s ex-assistant, Deborah Edge, said

President Francois Hollande will decide by the end of July whether France should impose new taxes on technology giants like Apple and Google to finance cultural projects, a move that could feed into an anti-business image days after a spat with Yahoo!. The Socialist government asked former Canal Plus CEO Pierre Lescure to find new ways of funding culture during an economic downturn, in line with France´s "cultural exception" argument that such projects must be shielded from market forces. While far from becoming laws, the proposals could worsen tension between France and technology giants after Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg

"This is my 18th day as chair and thirty minutes after I took over on April 22nd the landlord of the building where our party headquarters are came in and said he wanted us out, that the rent was overdue and was always overdue,"

Trenton — Police officials are examining the response to a 911 call Sunday night that left a city man struggling with an intruder at his building without any officers arriving. Dan Dodson said it was 20 or 30 minutes before two officers eventually arrived in response to his wife’s calls to police telephone numbers. “We’re looking into it to determine if the proper protocols were followed,” Lt. Steve Varn said yesterday evening. Yesterday, Dodson said he was deciding where to buy a baseball bat in case someone else was able to slip into his home. He believes one of the two

The Internal Revenue Service relies on technology more than ever to sniff out tax cheats using robo-audits and data mining—but so far it has caught lot of minnows, and big fish are still eluding detection. After superstorm Sandy struck, mountains of rubble were collected and taken to temporary storage sites. In Ocean County, those locations included a parking lot in Ortley Beach, a ball field in Bay Head, a recycling center in Berkeley. From there, trucks hauled it all to the county landfill in Manchester. The distances of those trips varied. But on bills submitted by the debris removal firm, they had something in common: They were all recorded as being just over or, in some cases, exactly 16 miles. Coincidence? Doubtful. Under the state’s contract with the cleanup firm, AshBritt Inc., 16 miles is

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
