| MSNBC contributor Joy-Ann Reid said on Monday’s Now that the sequester cuts aimed at the Defense Department are the only effective way to cut wasteful government spending. She said that the Pentagon is “where the money is.” Beyond defense, Reid said, the only aspects of the budget that can be cut are “old peoples’ lights and heating,” food stamps, or milk for children. Both host Alex Wagner and former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele remarked at the novelty of Congressional Republicans’ openly saying that sequester cuts to the defense department are welcome.

How about the 500 million to Solyndra ? How about cutting entire departments?
How much can be saved by putting Congress and all Federal workers in Obamacare?
How about grounding AF1?
How about not giving free fighter jets to Egypt?
How about canceling Obamaphones?
How about 20% cuts in pay to Federal workers?
How about drill baby drill so we start using our own oil instead of making people who hate us rich by selling us their oil?

Only a fool would believe this. Every day we see instances of billions being wasted. Check out medicaid fraud, check out a billion or so in Florida by false tax returns. How about the billion or so Obama gave to the unions in the GM ´bailout´. Add in the cost of Obama Czars, Vacations, Michelle´s staff .. ( bigger than all previous First Ladies combined). Bridges to nowhere. Solyndra (sp) fiasco. They don´t know where to start???

I know-let´s cut foreign aid! Let´s get rid of the National Endowment for the Arts and the federal Department of Education! Why is it that everyone who actually works for a living and pays taxes are the only ones who are going to "suffer"? These Chicken Littles are beyond absurd.

They must take the federal government completely out of certain activities.
Abolish the task. Ethanol would be an example. End the mandate and every subsidy for it. 100% gone.
Another would be light-rail constuction in cities. If cities and localities want things they can pay for them.
And cost-sharing for trains to nowhere.
It is true that defense is the big expense. But it is essential. And it is already being trimmed as much or more than completely unneeded programs.

Apparently dems are prejudice against Defense, seniors and children. sigh
Start instead at the top by cutting the beltway Boomtown personal luxuries & travel expenses, then move on to elminating supefluious & corrupted cabinet level Dept. buracracies, and on to banishing the odeous 0bamacare.
Streamline our bloated Big Spending government and keep it within the confines & restrants which are defined and secured in the U.S. Constitution. ´´-Very simple, very easy,´´ ...DONE!

I am leaning toward throwing out the entire government and starting all over.
National Defense is the only thing to remain in place. Everything else is on the table. Start all over.
Every department would have to prove it is necessary.

The Homeland Security Department has granted legal status to 99.2 percent of all illegal immigrants who have applied under President Obama’s new non-deportation policy for young adults, according to the latest numbers released Friday. That’s a slight drop from the 99.5 percent approval rate reported last month. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate."
