During a discussion about President Obama’s lack of transparency about the drone program, former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs explained on MSNBC this morning that he was ordered to never acknowledge the existence of the drone program. “One of the first things they told me was, you are not even to acknowledge the drone program, you are not even to discuss that it exists,” Gibbs said frankly, explaining why he could never be forthcoming about the issue with White House reporters. Gibbs added that in his opinion, the Obama administration’s denial of the program “undermines people’s confidence overall
Since the Obama administration withholds the truth from the White House Press Corps, its members cannot be considered to be fulfilling the function of actual journalists, which is to learn the truth and disseminate it to the public.
Instead, the members of the White House Press Corps are functioning as props, or movie extras, in the Obama administrations´ phony, lying presentations of actual White House press conferences.
By so doing, the White House Press Corps members knowingly conspire with the Obama administration to disseminate misleading information to the readers and viewers they´re supposed to be enlightening with the truth.
It´s a weekend dump leading up the release of whatever info this adminstration deigns to release on the drone program. This was meant to soften the thud of a shoe dropping soon. When that happens , this will be ´old news´.
Are you kidding? Anyone like Gibbs who accepted a job with Obe is/was well aware that to mention such things in public would earn a personal and up front meeting with a drone just like everyone assassinated from the card deck. Is Gibbs trying to buy safety via a few tattles?
I wouldn´t be so quick to dismiss the significance of this surprising admission. It´s one thing for conservative commentators to claim Obama´s flunkies are lying, but quite another thing to have them admitting it. This will have an effect in both the media and the public over time as other developments evolve.

FTA: ´´One of the first things they told me was, you are not even to acknowledge the drone program, you are not even to discuss that it exists,´´ Gibbs said frankly, explaining why he could never be forthcoming about the issue with White House reporters.´´
Who ordered it? The White House is a building - it doesn´t ´order´ anybody to do or not do anything. It´s a building. Who IN the White House issued these orders? Who are ´they´?
Gibbs added that in his opinion, the Obama administration’s denial of the program ´´undermines people’s confidence overall in the decisions that their government makes.´´
Gee whiz, Genius. Ya think? Everything they do undermines our confidence overall in the decisions THEIR ´government´ makes.
MSNBC/NBC News´s new political contributor, Bobby "G´s," first big mistake in life? Leaving the security of his position, in the dairy department at the Lee County, Alabama´s Walmart Super Center, and taking the bus to Washington, D.C.
Doesn´t matter. The LoFo´s don´t even know what a drone is. Even if they do, they know that the drones won´t be aimed at them. They are ´zippy´s people´ after all. Just keep the goodies coming and all will be well.
The Obama Administration has acheived success; they´ve reduced this country to nothing more than some third world banana republic with the Cult of the Obamas permeating everything and ussuing blatant lies without any fear of any challenge from a formerly free press.
Sorry, I´m probably not as up-to-speed on this as I should be, but are we talking about the use of domestic drones or drones used in war zones/fight against terrorism. If it´s the latter, then I have to say that the less we know, the better. If the former, then, yes, there are lots of questions that need to be answered.
The "War on Terror" isn´t an excuse to go lobbing drones wherever the president feels like it. Our government is an out-of-control monster and has been for years. When we look back years from now, we´ll see that the biggest damage from 9/11 was our country´s slide into tyranny and authoritarianism as a result.
All the secrecy about the drone program is 100 percent political "cover your a**", and nothing to do with operational security.
Sen. Ted Cruz — a vocal opponent of President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law, the Affordable Care Act — compared Obama’s exemptions of certain parts of the law to a dictatorship. “One of the most disturbing aspects of the Obama presidency is the willingness of this president to disregard the law, to ignore the law,” the Texas Republican said in an interview with Fusion on Wednesday. “You know, we were talking a few minutes ago about Obamacare. And you mentioned it’s the law of the land. If it’s the law of the land, the president shouldn’t keep ignoring the law.”
President Obama says his personal management style isn´t a problem: "Part of what we need to do is reorganize the government, which was designed primarily in 1935-45. We could consolidate agencies," he told "Hardball" host Chris Matthews Thursday in an interview conducted at American University in Washington. Matthews, an Obama fan, told the president that problems with the rollout of Obamacare suggest he does not have a "strong top-down authority system." "What is your system for management?" Matthews asked the president. (Video) "Well, first of all, I think it´s important to distinguish between this particular project -- this health care project,
With anti-tax Republicans in control of the House, it’s a little odd that The Washington Post would devote a story on Thursday to liberal Democrat Earl Blumenauer’s proposal to raise the federal gas tax by 15 cents a gallon. It was stranger that reporter Ashley Halsey III seemed ordered to produce a Blumenauer press release, quoting absolutely no opposition to such a tax hike, instead quoting tax-hike backers like AAA and unions. No one seemed to ask whether the nation´s infrastructure was supposed to get a boost from Obama´s "stimulus." With Congress facing a major shortfall in transportation funding next
WASHINGTON – A fourth straight month of solid hiring cut the U.S. unemployment rate to a five-year low of 7 percent in November, an encouraging sign for the economy. The Labor Department says employers added 203,000 jobs, nearly matching October´s revised gain of 200,000. The job gains helped lower the unemployment rate from 7.3 percent in October. The strengthening job market is likely to fuel speculation that the Federal Reserve may start to scale back its bond purchases when it meets later this month. The economy has now generated an average of 204,000 jobs from August through November. That´s up
Either President Obama needs a new speechwriter, or he needs a new set of economic policies. Actually, he needs both. Can anyone think of a more boring, banal, irrelevant, or stale speech than the one he gave this Thursday in Washington DC? The speech was allegedly on the economy, but more likely it was to divert attention from the Obamacare catastrophe. Whatever the motive, his idea that the defining challenge of our time is to reduce income inequality is completely wrong. In truth, the defining challenge is to restore more rapid economic growth, create substantially more jobs, and significantly reduce
President Obama on Thursday said that Republicans should be “embarrassed” that they have not done more on Capitol Hill, blaming them for Washington gridlock. “They´ve got to be embarrassed,” the president said in an interview on MSNBC’s "Hardball with Chris Matthews." “Because the truth of the matter is that they´ve now been in charge of the House of Representatives, one branch of, or one chamber in one branch of government, for a couple of years now and they just don´t have a lot to show for it.” Obama said that congressional Republicans were too fearful of offending their conservative base to
On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that Onyango “Omar” Obama, uncle to President Obama, says that his famous nephew stayed with him while a student at Harvard Law School in the 80s, in contradiction to The White House’s contention that the two had never met. At Thursday’s White House daily briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the President had, in fact, briefly stayed with “his father’s half-brother,” as Carney described Omar Obama, and that no one had actually asked the President about it when the White House initially commented. The 69 year-old Omar Obama has been facing deportation back
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter.
