During a discussion about President Obama’s lack of transparency about the drone program, former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs explained on MSNBC this morning that he was ordered to never acknowledge the existence of the drone program. “One of the first things they told me was, you are not even to acknowledge the drone program, you are not even to discuss that it exists,” Gibbs said frankly, explaining why he could never be forthcoming about the issue with White House reporters. Gibbs added that in his opinion, the Obama administration’s denial of the program “undermines people’s confidence overall

Now how´s ´bout Fast & Furious and The New Black Panthers? Any coverups there you want to tell us about?

As if the White House press corps would have cared anyway. Obama plays them and they like it. Testesterone impaired. The men too.

Since the Obama administration withholds the truth from the White House Press Corps, its members cannot be considered to be fulfilling the function of actual journalists, which is to learn the truth and disseminate it to the public.

Instead, the members of the White House Press Corps are functioning as props, or movie extras, in the Obama administrations´ phony, lying presentations of actual White House press conferences.

By so doing, the White House Press Corps members knowingly conspire with the Obama administration to disseminate misleading information to the readers and viewers they´re supposed to be enlightening with the truth.

It´s a weekend dump leading up the release of whatever info this adminstration deigns to release on the drone program. This was meant to soften the thud of a shoe dropping soon. When that happens , this will be ´old news´.

Is Gibbs getting serious vibes there might be some legal backfire concerning the drones and wants to now distance himself to stay out of the fray.

Anyone with integrity would have just told Obama to just take this job and shove it and then explained to everyone why he did that.

Are you kidding? Anyone like Gibbs who accepted a job with Obe is/was well aware that to mention such things in public would earn a personal and up front meeting with a drone just like everyone assassinated from the card deck.
Is Gibbs trying to buy safety via a few tattles?

I wouldn´t be so quick to dismiss the significance of this surprising admission. It´s one thing for conservative commentators to claim Obama´s flunkies are lying, but quite another thing to have them admitting it. This will have an effect in both the media and the public over time as other developments evolve.

Robert Gibbs´ head is so far up his backside I really don´t think he needed to be told things didn´t exist.

That implies intelligence and we all know Gibbs lacks that quality.

FTA:
´´One of the first things they told me was, you are not even to acknowledge the drone program, you are not even to discuss that it exists,´´ Gibbs said frankly, explaining why he could never be forthcoming about the issue with White House reporters.´´

Who ordered it? The White House is a building - it doesn´t ´order´ anybody to do or not do anything. It´s a building. Who IN the White House issued these orders? Who are ´they´?

Gibbs added that in his opinion, the Obama administration’s denial of the program ´´undermines people’s confidence overall in the decisions that their government makes.´´

Gee whiz, Genius. Ya think? Everything they do undermines our confidence overall in the decisions THEIR ´government´ makes.

Sorry, I´m probably not as up-to-speed on this as I should be, but are we talking about the use of domestic drones or drones used in war zones/fight against terrorism. If it´s the latter, then I have to say that the less we know, the better. If the former, then, yes, there are lots of questions that need to be answered.

Reply 32 - Posted by: VAfreedomluver, 2/25/2013 12:18:41 PM     (No. 9195132)

The "War on Terror" isn´t an excuse to go lobbing drones wherever the president feels like it. Our government is an out-of-control monster and has been for years. When we look back years from now, we´ll see that the biggest damage from 9/11 was our country´s slide into tyranny and authoritarianism as a result.

All the secrecy about the drone program is 100 percent political "cover your a**", and nothing to do with operational security.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew was told about a government watchdog´s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service in mid-March but did not learn the full extent of its findings until they were released earlier this month. Lew told the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday that he first learned about the possible problems during a "getting to know you" meeting with the Treasury´s inspector general for tax administration, J. Russell George, on March 15. At that meeting, George ran down a number of items for Lew, including the potential for "troubling findings" in regards to the agency´s handling of tax-exempt applications

On the heels of news that the Obama administration Department of Justice was spying on reporters at the Associated Press, Monday brought the startling disclosure by the Washington Post that the DOJ had also targeted Fox reporter James Rosen for surveillance in an effort to plug up leaks. Additionally, the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza obtained the full application for a search warrant of Rosen’s personal email account, in which the DOJ accused him of being “an aider and abettor and/or co-conspirator.” As Lizza put it, “Rosen was not charged with any crime, but it is unprecedented for the government,

WASHINGTON— The man who led the Internal Revenue Service when it was giving extra scrutiny to tea party and other conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status told Congress on Tuesday that he knew little about what was happening while he was still commissioner. Douglas Shulman, who vacated his position last November when his five-year term expired, told the Senate Finance Committee he didn´t learn all the facts until he read last week´s report by a Treasury inspector general confirming the targeting strategy. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) demanded information about conservative groups’ college-aged interns, prompting outrage from one of the country’s top conservative activist organizations and leading one former intern to wonder whether his family’s pizza parlor would be endangered. The IRS requested, in an audit, the names of the conservative Leadership Institute’s 2008 interns, as well as specific information about their internship work and where the interns were employed in 2012, according to a document request the IRS sent to the Leadership Institute, dated February 14, 2012. The outgoing acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service and his predecessor denied Tuesday that they misled Congress about the targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, telling a Senate panel that they were not aware of the practice when it started. Appearing before the Senate Finance Committee, Steven T. Miller, the acting commissioner who submitted his resignation under pressure last week, and Douglas Shulman, a George W. Bush appointee who headed the IRS from March 2008 to November 2012, also rejected the idea that political partisanship played a role in singling out conservative nonprofits for heightened scrutiny.

VATICAN CITY — Is Pope Francis an exorcist? The question has been swirling ever since Francis laid his hands Sunday on the head of a young man after celebrating Mass in St. Peter’s Square. The young man heaved deeply a half-dozen times, shook, and he then slumped in his wheelchair as Francis prayed over him. The television station of the Italian bishops’conference said it had surveyed exorcists, who agreed there was “no doubt” that Francis either performed an exorcism or a prayer to free the man from the devil. The Vatican was more cautious Tuesday. In a statement,

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued.
