This is what will be happening here anon. South Carolina E&G has closed six aging coal-fired plants since October because they did not meet Obama´s new regulations. To replace them? Church fans in a southern summer? Layer upon layer of clothing rendering us Michelin family lookalikes in the winter? How many trees for the fireplace can you cut down on your property before you run out?
Do a search on your local newspaper site, see if you can find out if vital plants have quietly shut down.

The worst part of this whole scheme is they think if they starve the market of conventional energy,people will simply flip to green alternatives.Obviously the green alternative don´t produce any where near the energy dense conventionals.
There´s absolutely no reason for gas prices being as high as they are. The crude supplies are as high as ever,especially new production in the US.My guess is the high prices are intended to stimulate people into gas sipping battery cars or hybrids. The funny part about that is auto makers make a ton of profit on huge gas guzzling trucks and SUV´s.

Global Warming and charging those many, many electric cars being sold will certainly cause failure to US and our power supply. That goobermint can be so ignorant....there´s an app for that.

To expand on #1, when there is no power available for us regular folks to charge these cars, it will be just another way for government to control your movements as you try to live your life.

#´s 1, 3 & 5 can see the underlying problem.
The question is, when to get deep phase batteries for home use. Variable energy costs (smart power) encourage lower usage during peak demand. Storing power (lead acid) evens out the overall cost. Trade-offs need to be calculated before investing in batteries.
Until such batteries are outlawed or regulated.

Wind farms are like one of those frustratingly unripened boils: you know that you shouldn´t keep squeezing but they´re so noxious and irritating and hideous that you just can´t resist. If you´ve got the same problem, then I heartily recommend you read this brilliant essay on the subject by Russell Taylor. A vast tract of the East Coast, from Washington DC to New York is in danger of being without power for up to two years, if a massive solar flare knocks out the power grid. With the Sun pushing out unusually large solar flares, capable of disrupting power supplies, a device is being proposed that would prevent more than 300 million Americans being left without power. Afghanistan has suspended talks with the US to discuss the nature of US military presence after foreign troops withdraw in 2014. A spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said the decision was taken over "contradictions" in the US proposal of direct talks with the Taliban. Mr Karzai also ruled out talking to the Taliban until the peace process was "Afghan-led". Earlier, four US soldiers died in a Taliban attack at an Afghan air base. A spokesman for the Taliban said the militants had launched two rockets at Bagram airbase, the largest military base for US troops in Afghanistan.

You don´t need to know much about Afghanistan, the nature of extremist movements or world affairs in general to understand one important principle: Never mind what they say, what are they doing? So while last night the Afghan Taliban released a statement (carefully co-ordinated with the White House) expressing their commitment to finding a political solution to Afghanistan´s conflict, this morning we wake to news that they launched a mortar attack on Bagram air base last night, killing four Americans. [Snip] The problem is that the US is negotiating not from a position of strength but a position of weakness.

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
