By law, on Friday the executive must begin to cut $85 billion from federal spending. Though, as is his wont, the president is blaming the Republicans for what he claims is a draconian measure. No less a Washington chronicler of events than Bob Woodward of the Washington Post considers that a gross distortion of the truth [T]he automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of [Treasury Secretary nominee Jack] Lew and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors -- probably the foremost experts on budget issues in the senior ranks of the federal government.
Obama´s base isn´t even close to being satisfied with the fiscal cliff tax increases.A louyt 2-3% increase? No way. They want as much blood for rich people and evil corporations as they can get. Obama knows this and exploits those people for all they´re worth.
Obama was handed almost a trillion dollars in stimulus and the lofos barely saw a dime of it.What makes them think a $50 billion tax increase is going to trickle down to their wallets. The main beneficiaries of this insane stimulus are government unions who are a small part of the overall economy and doesn´t help the average schlub one iota.
The CEO of Whole Foods,Mackey, was on Hannity the other day bemoaning higher taxes and Obamacare saying they both hurt business. Whole Foods employs 75,000 people nationwide, who contribute umpteen dollars in taxes but that doesn´t count for the left, the owner should still pay through the nose, because "he has more money than he needs".
I think the short term capital gains rate should be a lot higher,If anybody´s making out like bandits today it´s stock flippers.
The old notion that investors in this country leads to economic growth and jobs is out the window under Obama. This has simply become a racket with insider trading being a big part of it.
If Bernake is going to use stimulus,it should be aimed at small business start ups instead of corrupt investors in the stock market who are making a killing but driving consumer prices up,hurting the "small guy".
Not to distract, but, bating could be correct. From the free online dictionary, "to lessen the force or intensity of, moderate".
Now to the point,Obie´s doubling down is more than just a political game at this point. He now sees the prospect of the great aftershock as becoming his legacy even amongst his sheep. Again, read Dave Wiedemer´s books for an instructive view of the gummint´s fiscal future.
Didn´t I just read that the National Givernment wastes (fraud and abuse) 125 million, or was it billion dollars a day? Sounds like an impossible figure, millions or billions, but with such a corrupt machine in Boomtown, anything is possible.

I learned something new last week or so - I wish I could give credit to the source but it was a caller in to Rush - that Obama and his progressives believe in ´zero sum´ fiscal principles. A little web research brought me to a source that explains it this way:
For Obama, the economy is a zero-sum game. It’s a pie with only so many pieces–a pie that belongs ultimately to federal authority. It can therefore be seized and divided any way the government sees fit. ~http://thelibertyprofessor.com/tag/the-economy-is-not-a-zero-sum-game/
The radio show I first heard this, the person said zero sum accounting is where they believe there´s only so much money (in the country? world? sorry, don´t recall exactly), and that the more rich people have, the less poor people have access to. And that´s why they believe that redistribution is the only way to cure this defect of our society. All money therefore, should go to government, for more fair redistribution to those who don´t have ´their share´.
Honest to God, I´ve heard the term zero sum for a long time, never understanding until now what it means. But it fits the current regime perfectly - their philosophy, their governing principles and style, everything.
What we work for will be offset by somebody who doesn´t work as hard, to be ´fair.´
#17, I heard Rush explain baseline budgeting years ago in a way that I have never forgotten the lesson. With his wide audience he could devote 1 or 2 hours a month maybe and give basic lessons/definitions to us economic lofos in a way that would help us to combat the wool pulling performed by government and the media a lot better.
Progressives confuse creating money with creating value.
Capitalists cause products and services to be created and profitable exchange to flourish. Wealth accumulation is a residual effect. The situation only becomes "Zero Sum" after the leftists have destroyed the means of production.
#17 the dustbin of history is littered with socioeconomic models based on the zero-sum concept and those inevitably fail because they do not recognize one basic principle of human nature when it comes to economic issues. And that is that self-interest always trumps group interest. A capitalistic, market-based economy recognizes that indviduals making choices in their own self-interest is what drives the creation of wealth, and thereby benefits the largest number of people, if their political system safeguards individual liberty and allows them the freedom to make such choices. Zero-sum systems do not. So they impose political tyranny to restrain individuals from making those choices they deem in their best interests. To be honest, I don´t there has even been an example in history of a truly free economy, there has always been some shading of regulation and oversight which has led to varying degrees of mixed economies. But Western democracies have come the closest to it, and we have learned the hard way that the more economic freedom individuals have, the better off we all are from the viewpoint of economics and political liberty.
To explain #26´s excellent post in the same model as #17´s easy to remember think of the economy as rising yeast bread dough. At the best rising point any amount needed to bake is pinched off and is replaced by the whole batch still rising. At times if the dough is punched down it will rise again if not destroyed. The pie theory was around long before the zero folks figured the contained mess was for their elite consumption.
One of the most heartbreaking sights I ever witnessed was an old mangy dog that wandered into my property a few years ago. Over half of its hair was gone, and you could see literally thousands of ticks hanging on its body. The dog was barely able to walk, and I remember the look of pain and hopelessness on its face. Not knowing what diseases it was carrying, and wanting to keep my grandsons safe, I told them to go inside. I used a 22 rifle to mercifully dispatch the poor creature to oblivion. Then I burned the body, making sure that all the ticks perished in the flames.
The body politic now reminds me of that poor dog. The parasites are taking the last life blood from the walking corpse of the Republic. The individual ticks are unaware of their complicity in the demise of the host, but they will die in the flames with the rest of us. Shame on us all for allowing it to happen.
Before "if you like your plan, you can keep it," the Obama left made a whole spate of false promises in the realm of sexuality. It´s worth connecting the dots between the folly of ObamaCare, an issue for which I wasn´t personally on the front lines, and the sweeping folly of sexual radicalism, an issue for which I was. In the rhetorical battlefield over sex and sexuality, the left rehearsed and perfected public-opinion warfare. These seasoned tactics led to the triumphal hubris of ObamaCare and the collateral damage of its inexorable implosion. Pick your antique allegory of overconfidence: the Tower of Babel,
"I´ve written two books," Senator Barack Obama told a crowd of teachers in Virginia on the campaign trial in July of 2008. The teachers applauded. "I actually wrote them myself," he added with a wink and a nod, and now the teachers exploded in laughter. They got the joke: Republicans were too stupid to write their books. Although few fussed over Obama´s second book, a first-person memoir/ policy brief published in 2006 titled The Audacity of Hope, Obama´s 1995 memoir Dreams from My Father had emerged as the sacred text in the cult of Obama "There is no underestimating the importance
Elect a Chicago community organizer (twice) as your president and you should not be surprised to find that all he is capable of is spewing propaganda and dividing us by personalizing attacks on those who oppose his grandiose, wildly impractical efforts at reshaping our lives to suit his sophomoric view of the good life. As the obvious failure of ObamaCare has become evident to all but his most blinkered cultists, Obama fell back this week on upping the propagandizing and deflecting attention from his failures with even more lies. His organizing arm OFA (Organizing for America) urged supporters to use this year´s
Those who wrote the PPACA legislation were much more brilliant than most conservatives have given them credit for. They have hidden a landmine in the way it all works that will ensure an eventual takeover of the entire health care industry by the government. Let me first clarify my professional interest. I have been a vendor of software and services to both insurance companies and providers, and therefore have a deep understanding of the health care industry and what the ACA will do to it. I do not work for any insurance companies or medical providers, nor do I own stock
MONTICELLO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A video recording shows the mayor of the Sullivan County municipality of Monticello in a heated confrontation after being arrested by his own police officers. (Snip) He was taken into custody after showing up to take a look at a serious car accident on Main Street. A volunteer firefighter noticed the mayor looked drunk, according to police, and notified law enforcement. Jenkins was arrested on the spot. In a video recorded at his own police headquarters, a man identified as Jenkins was shown seated in a chair with one hand handcuffed to a wall. During the first
If you think ObamaCare is bad, just wait till you hear the new "peace" agreement that is due to be imposed on the Middle East over the coming weeks. Even if it works, a giant if, it will make the world much more dangerous: 1. Iran will have nuclear weapons, or it will be balanced right on the edge -- within one month or less to make nukes. 2. Saudi Arabia and Egypt will go nuclear, to balance Iran. 3. America´s role as a guarantor of peace will be blown, crushed by Obama´s betrayal of Israel and the Arabs. America´s nuclear umbrella, which
How fitting that abortion zealot and self-proclaimed Marxist Gloria Steinem received the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Wednesday from Barack Hussein Obama. The male-bashing, anti-family, anti-American Steinem beamed as the guy who voted three times against a partial-birth abortion ban while in the Illinois state Senate placed the medal around her neck. What exactly is the meritorious contribution Steinem has made to our national interests that would warrant such an honor? Ever since the radical feminist attended an "abortion speak-out" in 1969 hosted by the radical man-hating group Redstockings, she was "instantly committed" to the abortion movement.
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
