Or let them take the empties directly to for-profit recyclers, and they will be redeemed by the pound. Google Waste management. Lots of people needing a little cash do this, and it helps cut down on the amount of trash along our roadways in Arkansas.

In these parts, you frequently see inmates in their orange jumpsuits on the side of the road performing their "community service" by picking up trash, including recycleables. I´ve alwys wondered who´s getting the cash for the salvaged alumininum cans, etc. It is also fairly common to see Dumpster Divers scavenging recycleabes out trash receptacles all over town. Welcome to Obama´s America.

How is this different from allowing millions of illegals to cash in on our welfare benefits and healthcare system?

We have recycle bins, and a can deposit law. If you put a deposit can in the recycle bin, the town redeems it--if the trash pickers don´t get to your recycle bin first.

When the program ran out of cash and was terminated everyone with cobras on hand just let them loose. The bounty resulted in more rather than less cobras.

If Government cannot even keep track of PEOPLE who are in the Country without valid paperwork ( notice how P.C. I am being in respect to those Democratic members of Congress who do not want certain designations used ), how in the World can they track CANS which are in the wrong state without valid identification.

The stores in border towns near deposit states get the deposit refund cans too. Helps with the gas prices.

When it´s the day to put out the recycling bin, all the can pickers are out way before the recycling truck.

Grew up in Michigan when the can return began. It made a huge difference the the amount of trash/empties left behind from all the visiting fishermen, hunters & beach-goers. Was also a boon to teens with no job to round up bottles to fill a gas tank. Why can´t the bottlers & distributors designate the barcode to disallow a return from outside their region? Toledo, OH or Michigan City, IN shouldn´t be making or selling pop in Michigan popcans. Derf!
