| Detroit — Three months after an FBI raid, the Detroit Public Library has fired one of its top administrators at the center of the federal investigation over kickbacks. Chief Administrative Officer Tim Cromer had been on paid leave from his $145,323-a-year post since mid-November, when the FBI raided his office at the library´s main branch and his West Bloomfield Township home. Detroit keeps illustrating how difficult it is to clean up a well entrenched, bad government.
And face it, even an informed voter in Detroit may make the wrong choices. He/she is faced with a deluge of outright lies and misleading campaign material.

I´m with #8. Looking at current images, I was surprised to know that Detroit actually *had* a library. Not surprised, that someone is drawing a salary way over the possible work.

As a Michigan resident and knowing that Detroit was voted The most miserable city in the whole country, I just want all of you to know, we here in West Michigan are proud of where we live. The ´Art Prize´ event in Grand Rapids was voted one of the top 5 ´Must See´ events for 2013 in the whole world. Come to Grand Rapids, where the living is indeed ´GRAND´ !

I don´t understand why some of the tv hosts on the Det. stations can smile and promote Det. as a wonderful place to live and work.It seems every newscast starts off with the latest murder in this basket case excuse of a city.One example of a tv host who has been in Det. for many years is Steve Garageola sp.?who is the son of the famous sports person.

Trenton — As Congress debates an overhaul to the federal immigration system, New Jersey lawmakers again took up controversial legislation today that would allow students living in the country illegally to pay in-state tuition at the state’s public colleges. The bill, dubbed the “Tuition Equality Act,” was approved by the state Assembly Budget Committee after a lengthy hearing in Trenton. The crowd in the chamber, which included immigrant students who have been pushing for the change for years, cheered as the committee moved the bill. The legislation will now go to the full Assembly for a vote.

Passengers on NJ Transit’s No. 113 Express bus were taken on a ride from hell during Thursday’s morning rush when a lost driver took a really scenic route to New York, leaving commuters nearly two hours late for work. The express from Dunellen to the Port Authority Bus Terminal became a local—and then some. Chris Christie today to talk about New Jersey´s recovery from Hurricane Sandy—touching on the state´s emotional connection to the Shore, the need for another source of flood insurance, and the governor´s famous "get the hell off the beach" comment. Sandy devastated New Jersey—especially its shoreline—last fall, leaving million without power and seriously damaging hundreds of thousands of homes. A series of shootings this weekend has Chicagoans on edge. A total of 11 separate shootings since Friday night have resulted in seven deaths and at least 30 injuries in the Windy City. The victims range in age from 16-years old to 40-years-old, according to multiple media reports. Iran is preparing to send 4,000 troops in to Syria to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the wake of America´s announcement it will be providing ´military aid´ to the country´s Muslim rebels.
