| The first NHS trust to be run entirely by a private firm has one of the highest levels of patient satisfaction in the country.[Snip] The company running the trust has slashed losses at the hospital by 60 per cent and will soon begin to pay off burgeoning debts built up over years of mismanagement. The takeover deal, which saved the hospital from closing down, is seen as a blueprint for the future of many NHS trusts. The George Eliot Hospital in Warwickshire is already considering adopting the model. The NHS is attempting to improve patient care drastically in the

In the asylum known as the UK an occasional and accidental outburst of sanity may occur. In the developing asylum that is the USA Obama´s health fascists will not allow it. 2017 is a long time in the future.

If you read the comments you will see that the Brits are hopeless and will remain so. Like true indoctrinated socialists ,facts mean nothing. Obama is working the same magic right here in the USA..A majority of freeloaders calling the shots.

My calculations say that this will be copied in the US during or about 2055.

Of course, after the whole thing is in shambles and the money is gone, only then will they relent and let private enterprise take over and fix it. That is, until it is running too well, then they will start overregulating, overtaxing and getting government´s greedy fingers all over it to mess it up again and then they will demand government to come in and "fix" it by taking it over again (even though government is the one who destroyed it in the first place). Viscious leftist circle.

In spite of the title, I read this through to the very end.
And I arrived at a profound conclusion: The sun also rises...in the east.
I was astounded to read that, among the reasons for the turnaround success of the private firm, were the following:
1) The firm empowered doctors and nurses. The article even breathlessly states, "[This] could be used in dozens of other struggling NHS trusts."
2) More of the decision-making was put in the hands of the doctors and nurses. [Zounds! They probably even let the plumbers plumb in this joint.]
And finally...
3) "Circle saved millions of pounds a year by cutting out arduous paperwork and middle management." [How many dead trees does it take to change a light bulb?]
Yeah, it was a fun article. Thanx OP.

The floor of the community centre in Springdale, Arkansas, shakes to a staccato rhythm as the young Latino dancers practise their steps. [Snip] It is about nourishing their Mexican roots, making sure their culture doesn´t shrivel and die in this corner of the Deep South. I have come to Springdale because it is a harbinger of America´s future. Ten years ago there were hardly any Latinos here--now they make up more than 30% of the population. Predictions suggest that by 2030, this is what the US will look like. Changing attitudes? Right now, one in four Americans under 18 is

The Hungarian prime minister has drawn outrage in Germany after drawing parallels with comments made by Angela Merkel about sending "cavalry" to Hungary and the Nazi occupation of his country. [Snip] When asked about the situation last week, Mrs Merkel, the German chancellor, said she "would do everything to put Hungary in the right direction, but we won´t be sending in the cavalry straight away." Viktor Orban however brought up the Second World War. "The Germans have already sent cavalry to Hungary: they came in form of tanks," said the prime minister in a radio interview on Friday. You´ll remember all that fuss about bees and neonicotinoids last month. It seemed to come out of nowhere--like a flash mob. Suddenly, it was the most urgent cause of the moment for green activists everywhere, with people taking to the streets in bee costumes and celebrities from Vivienne Westwood to Stephen Fry rushing to lend their support. [Snip] Those of us who´ve observed the environmental movement at work, though, will have recognised a familiar pattern here. First, the emergence of a new poster child victim of man´s selfishness and greed: in this case the bee. And we all love bees

Local Conservative party campaigners, including the chairman of one constituency association, will this week pledge their support for Nigel Farage after one of David Cameron’s allies described grassroots Tories as “mad, swivel-eyed loons”. Mr Farage uses an advertisement in Monday´s Telegraph to urge Conservative voters to back Ukip. The “loons” description, he says, is “the ultimate insult” from a party leadership that has betrayed the trust of its own supporters. He writes in the advertisement: “Only an administration run by a bunch of college kids, none of whom have ever had a proper job in their lives, could so

Severe weather has left a violent trail of destruction through the Midwest and South, bringing high winds, heavy rains and tornadoes - and at least one person has been killed. Numerous twisters were spotted on Saturday evening near Rozel, a sparsely populated area in central Kansas. They were also reported to the south in parts of Oklahoma and Iowa. Lightning bolts lit up the sky as the storm moved through. A National Weather Service advisory warned: ´You could be killed if not underground or in a tornado shelter.´ ´Complete destruction of neighborhoods, businesses and vehicles will occur. Flying debris will

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. But when it came to their own accomplishments and sense of purpose, they had no time for excuses. Every one of you has a grandma or an uncle or a parent whose told you at some point in life

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) concerning the Internal Revenue Service scandal Sunday (video follows with transcript and commentary):CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Moving on to the IRS problem at this moment, which is really sort of in its infancy. There will be lots more hearings coming up this week

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
