| Should a miracle occur and the pending sequester actually kick in to reduce the growth of federal spending—said slowdown derided as “draconian budget cuts” even as actual spending rises—the political playing field will shift to new ground. The moment big-spending Democrats wrap up their “save us from sequester” theatrics and dump this Obama-originated bipartisan idea squarely onto the Republicans’ laps, they will pivot to a new narrative. After four years of justifying the abysmal Obama economic recovery using the mantra, “It could have been worse!” they will shift the narrative,

Obama is not only the President, he is also so complusively in need of constant attention that he´s in everyone´s faces 24/7, taking all the oxygen out of the air in Washington.
That´s why whatever happens to our economy will be blamed on Obama, not the Republicans or even the Federal Reserve with their terminally diffident, shrinking-violet ´´leaders,´´ John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, and Ben Bernanke.
The Republicans went along with Obama´s fiscal-cliff plan, which imposed a payroll tax hike on every working American and which has contributed to diminishing retail sales, including a self-described ´´disastrous´´ period for Walmart. But the retail recession we are now in, which will have a negative effect on the rest of the economy, will be known as the Obama Recession, NOT the John Boehner or Mitch McConnell Recession.
For the Republicans, worrying about being blamed for anything during the Obama three-ring circus of a presidency, with Obama starring in every act, is like a mousy librarian worrying about being raped at a Las Vegas striptease show. It´s not gonna happen.

The "sequester" that Bronco Bama has demonized so (strange, too, since it was HIS clever idea), pales in significance to the damage done in tinkering so far with the IRS Code, as regards tax rates, closing of "loopholes", and expansion of authority to included overview of health insurance premiums.
The so-called "sequester" only slows the rate of growth, it is not stopped altogether. A real austerity program would be to FREEZE the federal spending level to what it was when Bronco Bama first occupied the White Hut, and completely defunding any new programs instituted since then. All "baseline" budget allocations would be pared of any of their "automatic" increases as allowed for inflation.
But that would be to admit that a completely wrong track had been taken since January 2009.

I was thinking I wouldn´t be affected by the Sequester, but now they´re saying it could affect flights. I´m doing complicated overseas travel late March/early April and am hoping the carefully constructed house of card won´t come tumbling down.
Not sure why #1 says Republicans won´t be blamed. We are and will continue to be blamed for everything, especially as long as we continue to fail to explain the taxes on the rich meme/broken record to the hoi polloi.

I disagree #1. If Obama is to be blamed he would not have won the election in 2012 and we would be listening to President Romney today....

Mark Krikorian is tapping the earpiece of his glasses — into the center of his right eye. (Snip) In Krikorian’s world view, there is good immigration — the kind that happened long ago. And there is bad immigration — the kind that happens now. There are immigrants who melt into a place and let it melt into them, and there are immigrants who inhabit a place without allowing it to inhabit them. “America has outgrown mass immigration,” he says. Krikorian doesn’t control any votes in the immigration fight that is consuming Congress,

A report released on Tuesday by the National Council on Teacher Quality finds that U.S. teacher training is “an industry of mediocrity” that produces teachers without a clue. “The results were dismal,” said Kate Walsh, president of the bipartisan research group. Walsh told Reuters that new teachers "don´t know how to teach reading, don´t know how to master a classroom, don´t know how to use data." (Snip) Several colleges attempted to thwart the study. Some even tried to block the Council from obtaining data about their teacher training programs.

Thanks to a John Podhoretz tweet (by the way, if you don’t follow him, you should. His Twitter feed is constantly engaging and insightful), I came across a horrifying, sad article by blogger and career advice columnist Penelope Trunk. It chronicles her two abortions — her first when she was in the midst of a professional volleyball career (it was relatively late-term) and the second when her post-volleyball career was “soaring.” Before the first abortion, she learned she was pregnant relatively late — 14 weeks in.

He didn´t think he would give a speech. For quite some time, Roy Costner IV was second among his classmates, and didn´t realize an extra class raised his grade point average enough for him to be the valedictorian of Liberty High School´s Class of 2013. But when the honor was bestowed on him, and he was asked to give the traditional valedictory speech, Costner didn´t want to waste this opportunity to acknowledge the most important influence in his life: his Christian faith.

During his radio show on Friday, Rush Limbaugh told his listeners, “I think abortion is at the root of so much that has and is going wrong in this country.” The conservative host went on to discuss that the reason why amnesty is essential to the liberal agenda is because abortion has, since Roe v. Wade in 1973, wiped out millions of potential taxpayers. The Democrat Party, Limbaugh said, has turned to amnesty as a means to ensure a “permanent underclass” in order to continue its image as the party of big government entitlements.

Colorado´s Black Forest fire is barely contained at latest reports and has killed at least two people while consuming hundreds of homes and other structures and forcing the evacuation of more than 38,000 people, but a dozen other significant fires are also burning across the country, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. (Snip) Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld of the New York-based American Center for Democracy´s Economic Warfare Institute warns that last July "al-Qaeda´s English-language online magazine, Inspire, published an article called ´It Is of Your Freedom to Ignite a Firebomb,´ which featured instructions on how to build an incendiary

Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, D-Calif., believes that if her Assembly Bill 926 passes, researchers will be able to pay egg donors as they develop medical advances that can help all women. To her, the bill is an issue of simple fairness -- gender equity, really. (Snip) The New York Times reports, "Egg donors can suffer serious side effects from the powerful hormones needed to generate multiple eggs." And: "The most significant risk is ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome, which can cause bloating, abdominal pain and, rarely, blood clots, kidney failure and other life-threatening ailments."

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
