Obama getting cold
feet on sequester?

According to Roll Call, the president wants to kick the sequester can down the road two months: President Barack Obama supports $2 in spending cuts for every $1 in revenue for a sequester replacement bill, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Friday. Carney also said the White House was open to a bill that would avert the sequester for as little as two months. Obama, for his part, said in a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that he would continue to talk to members of Congress and the American people as he pushes

The headline describes exactly what is happening. He really thought he could simply raise that chin, assert his demand once again that taxes must be raised before he discusses anything, but the Republicans aren´t caving and he thought they would. Boehner and McConnell are doing a good job of getting out the word that the sequester idea originated with Obama and that he owns it. Obama didn´t understand that this is an argument the Republicans do not fear and actually are looking forward to. It´s the only way Obama can be forced to make cuts.

When will the Republicans finally realize that Obama is the political equivalent of a schoolyard bully -- someone who only preys on the weak and frightened but will run away if someone has the courage to stand up and fight back?

Could the Sequester be the turning point when the Republicans finally land a little punch on Obama´s upturned Mussolini chin and begin to save the day for America?

Well, that explains the phone call to Boehner and McConnell. No negotiating, just kick the can down the road. Glad to see they didn´t fall for it.

Obama wants to kick it down the road for two more months. In two months it will be the same thing over again. That is why the sequester situation is here now. It is also how the fiscal cliff came to be. He always promises if he gets what he wants NOW and postpone the problem, he will work with it later for a permanent solution. Problem is when the time comes for the solution, he is never ready to work on it or to keep his word. He kicks and screams, lies, and refuses to do as he promised and claims urgency. To Obama compromise is to do it his way. When the other side refuses they are demonized by him with lots of help from the press and tv news readers. Most people have forgotten the history of the situation, Republicans get scared and cave and Obama wins again. He knows this, but could not get away with this if the bias media did not do his dirty work for him. He is free to golf, vacation and make more plans to tax the rich.

I think that Boehner and McConnell should take a week-long golf vacation right now, just like Obama did. Accept no phone calls, no deals from the Chief Prevaricator.
Run out the clock and let´s go into sequestration.

None of these crisises would exist if O and the dems would have allowed budgets to be passed the last four years.

Exactly #9.

Obama and the Democrats negotiated this sequester scheme. Therefore, they wanted and supported this idea.

Republicans need to stop the game and expose this baseline budget, and the projected spending increase scam.

Republicans should simply say the budget is X, and we are offering 3% spending increase across-the-board. We want to fix these budgets at these levels for 4-5 years.

During this time, departments will need to determine how and where they´ll fund their departments. They can allocate where they feel it´s best used.

Gov´t needs to become more fiscally responsible, needs to become more efficient, and more productive.
This will help reduce the expenses for the American taxpayers.

Become the champion of the taxpayer.

#10, the House has sent multiple budgets to the Senate, each of them drawing ridicule from Reid, "DOA", he intones. But, I believe the Republicans have shown their intent, whether it gets anywhere in the Senate or not.

Let me be perfectly clear. I want to raise taxes for spending cuts that will never come. I want European levels of spending and European levels of job growth and high unemployment.

This from Mister ´I won´t pass a budget´.

I see Medicare and SS being thrown out there as something that needs to be ´discussed´. How about also putting ObamaCare on that list? That monstrosity could easily solve the problem - cutting $85b. How about agency audits as part of the deal? I like fixing the budget for the next few years. How about some incentive for returning unused funds or uncovering waste and fraud? How about a Constitution audit? Any department not found to be within the enumerated powers be turned over to the States ... for proper disposal?

The paltry sum of money (compared to the budget) is not Obama´s primary concern. What really tears him up is the fact that he is going to suffer a defeat, at the hands of the Republicans. He was not able to steam-roll the Republicans with this and then put the blame on them.

The last resort for this guy is to delay a "disaster" by pushing it out three months and then one year etc. until he can get back in the cat seat. Write to you congress critters and tell them to not make any delay moves on this Sequester as he is only buying campaign time.

Social Security stops trying

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Despite promises to the contrary, it appears that State Senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) voted on bills that affect her clients and favorably impact the bottom line of her law firm. “I have never done anything in a way that represents a conflict in my voting and something that would benefit me personally,” she said in an interview, but state records seem to tell a different story. The Dallas Morning News´ Senior Political Writer Wayne Slater (DMN) reported that Davis supported legislation governing a toll road project. That would be all well and good except for the fact that the

Democrats Lose Two More Special

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. But last Tuesday, Democrats lost their first election for the five-member Arlington County Board in 15 years when John Vihstadt, a Republican running as an independent, won a vacancy on

Nevada ranch standoff could leave

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. The Bureau of Land Management is headed by former longtime Reid aide Neil Kornze, who was confirmed by the Senate as BLM director on Tuesday, just as federal authorities descended on the cattle ranch outside Mesquite, Nev. Mr. Kornze issued a statement Saturday saying that the bureau would return the cattle and withdraw its agents from the ranch

On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

On a trip to Moscow early in her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton played the role of international saleswoman, pressing Russian government officials to sign a multibillion-dollar deal to buy dozens of aircraft from Boeing. A month later, Clinton was in China, where she jubilantly announced that the aerospace giant would be writing a generous check to help resuscitate floundering U.S. efforts to host a pavilion at the upcoming World’s Fair. Boeing, she said, “has just agreed to double its contribution to $2 million.” Clinton did not point out that, to secure the donation, the State Department

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
