| Teddy Turner wants Republican voters in South Carolina to know that it was actress Jane Fonda who turned his father, billionaire CNN founder Ted Turner, into a tree-hugging liberal. Turner, a 49-year-old high school economics teacher in Charleston, is currently running on a conservative platform for South Carolina´s 1st Congressional District. [Snip]´I was raised in a different time at the Turner household...a very conservative household with capitalism and all of that kind of stuff,´ the younger Turner told Newsmax TV’s The Steve Malzberg Show. The aspiring congressman is running on a platform that includes opposition to taxes

Comments: So he was raised in "a very conservative household with capitalism and all of that kind of stuff."
"All of that kind of stuff."
I cannot vote for a grown man named Teddy who does not articulate very well.

I suggest that one watch the video( B´ore Reilly interview) included in this article before throwing the lever for Mark Warner or Colbert´s sister. I´d vote for him in a hearbeat. He seems to have the right ´ stuff´.

I wonder if this is the same seat Mark sanford in running for? BTW..Eric Erickson of red state supports Sanford despite his marriage foibles.
Old man turner has had plenty of time to rehab himself since him and Fonda split and I haven´t seen any signs of it.

#3, yes it is that seat--Tim Scott´s former seat--and I think that´s who #1 is referring to when he typed Mark Warner. There are sixteen Republican candidates at this point. Sanford represented our district before he ran for Governor and is still well regarded by his former constituents.
While the media gave months of wall-to-wall coverage of Mrs. Sanford as the "victim" in all this, Mark Sanford kept silent after his initial emotional outburst. I haven´t heard how the couple´s four young sons have handled their mother´s innumerable tell-all interviews in print and video and her book, "Staying True".
Stephen Colbert´s sister, btw, is one of two Democrats running and hardly likely to be my choice. If the election were being held today, A and I would vote for Sanford.

He is also an econ teacher OP. I have to wonder how well the lessons are being received by the students.
But I do believe him with regards to Hanoi Jane. She has ruined pretty much every thing she has ever touched.

I remember some of Turner´s nuttiness from interviews done back in the early eighties when he was just getting acclaim for his innovation in the cable industry. He came across then like a tacky hillbilly on the make. He unabashedly claimed that his favorite hobby was photographing nude models. He was also at the forefront of some organization which wanted to drastically cut the world´s population - it was a very big proponent of abortion in third world countries. I think he was a liberal long before Jane.

I know both Teddy and Mark Sanford personally and am supporting Turner.
He is (and always has been) a true conservative; smart, honest and dedicated.
Sanford is a defective retread who has displayed his lack of discretion and is playing on the sympathy vote to get back in to politics.
Nevertheless, this will be a GOP seat.

When he was a conservative, Ted senior donated some three million dollars to the Citadel. Despite his unfortunate transformation to liberalism, I´ll always be grateful to him for that, because it´s an amazing institution. The best thing my conservative son ever did for himself was attend the Citadel. It´s one school where conservative thinking is still allowed.

The site´s shop quickly crashed and parts were still out of action on Thursday morning. A spokesman said: "Last night with the website, there was clearly a lot of interest." Is the worm turning against Barack Obama? After four-plus years of being given the benefit of the doubt by the bulk of the US media, the President now suddenly feels more vulnerable. Today both the New York Times and the Washington Post have run prominent and angry editorials and columns slamming the administration for its attempt to criminalise a Fox News reporter James Rosen for working a State Department source to obtain a story. The "Rosen Affair"--as it is now known--is poisoning the well in Washington at an alarming rate for Mr Obama, with an indignant White House press corps

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s
