The problem isn´t the nuclear plant and it´s not a new problem. My family lives just across the Columbia River from there and this has been an ongoing problem as long as I can remember. They have been working on cleaning the site up for years. Unfortunately, during the war when reasearch into the Bomb was number 1, no one thought of the consequences of just burying all of the waste or throwing it all into tanks together. No one really knows what is buried or exactly what is in the tanks. They have had to occasionally "burp" the tanks for years, just to keep them from exploding. My point is that the only thing new about this is the hysteria.

IMHO this temporary storage exists because of the failure to use yucca mountain in nevada. Thanks to democrats the gooberment has wasted billions of dollars and put the columbia river at risk. What a bunch of ignorant clowns.

A country suckled on soap operas and reality TV has discarded reason and fallen prey to each day´s crisis.

Harry Reid has been fighting the commonsense of storing this waste in Yucca Mtn for as long as he has been in Congress. And any disaster that comes from this situation should bury him 10 feet deep.

When the Dems tell you something won´t work, it´s best to listen to them because they will sabotage it to death.

If they tell you something will work you can equally expect to be blamed for it´s failure.

There was a proposal to have a storage location in Yucca Mountain in Nevada, but Democrat Harry Reid squashed that Bush idea.

Democrats don´t want oil, coal, or nuclear power.

Translation: The Dems would rather have a problem to posture with than a problem solved.

And yes, there´s Harry Reid. He made sure: a. the money already spent on Yucca Mountain would have no productive result [getting Harry re-elected isn´t a "productive result" in my mind]; and b. the Dems would still have a problem to raise campaign money on, and bash Republicans with.
