Don´t just laugh at Dan
Rather -- learn from him

Washington Examiner [DC], by David Freddoso

Original Article

In 2004, CBS News anchor Dan Rather was given a series of memos purporting to show how George W. Bush had avoided service in Vietnam during the early 1970s. Rather wanted so badly for the document to be real that he put it on the air without much thought. He even sexed up his sourcing a bit, claiming (falsely) that the documents had been authenticated by experts. It took nearly two weeks for the fake documents to be exposed and for this highly damaging story about George W. Bush to be disproven. For most of that period, CBS News and Rather

When I see Freddoso´s name I stop and read. He did extensive research on obama, even going into the dark pit of chicago, leading up to the 2008 election. And using a liberal, especially someone from d.c., is not a good idea. I don´t think the liberals can tell anymore if they are lying or telling the truth. They have so disconnected themselves from reality.

If it´s all the same to you, I´ve laughed and learned at the same time when it comes to Dan Blather. The man is pathetic, but was in many ways was the Left´s flagship representative of deception. He came from the age when the television was a dumb terminal hard-wired to the Networks. Since then the Left has learned very well that lying works to further their cause and therefore lying is OK so long as you´re winning. It has become their their culture so much so that they now tell bald-faced lies and don´t really care how laughable and preposterous they are because they are pandering to a bloated population of dumbed-down, government-dependent, uninformed, dysfunctional door knobs, entitlement suckled bobble-heads and white guilt-ridden, Volvo-driving, birkenstock-wearing, bottled-water-drinking, self-absorbed, celebrity-obsessed, Politically Correct Xanax-disabled, Valium-dependent, Depakote-dummies, otherwise known as Liberals. And here´s what they´ve learned - It´s easy to take over a country full of "victims"!
Learn from it because we are watching Marxism develop and take over in front of our eyes.

David Freddoso makes an excellent point. It´s a fine line--the MSM massages a news story to fit a narrative, but if you´re caught in a blatant lie you will get fired. Rather just made it worse by suing CBS News (he lost), and by writing a book about his career (it tanked).
Within the last two weeks, the head of NBC News was fired because he was caught doctoring some gun control testimony.
I was impressed by Ben Shapiro´s appearance on Piers Morgan´s show. He is indeed a rising star, but "Friends of Hamas" was a stretch. This article is Freddoso´s way of giving him fair warning. Let´s hope he reads it.

Dan Rather was merely a highly visible case in a long line of deceitful reporting by the Left-agenda media.
Walter Cronkite´s biased and untruthful reporting of Viet Nam was even more flagrant than Rather´s fake letters.
I distrust EVERYONE in media, except perhaps Brit Hume. And my trust for him goes only so far.
Not only is 95% of the media left-biased, but almost 100% is stupid in their inability to understand complex issues, inter-relationships, scientific facts, etc.
It is my firm belief that all those stupid kids in class that we thought would end up sweeping streets or tossing french fries have instead found employment in Media.

So....who ´Proved the Negative´ that Friends of Hamas does not exist ?

Looks more like a naked assertion to me.

"Don´t taunt the alligator until after you´ve crossed the creek," is the only advice given by Gunga Dan I have ever followed.

As for his political wisdom, Professor Blather is, and always has been, just another garden-variety loopy leftist with a microphone, wearing pancake make-up and reading "DNC Talking Points," from a teleprompter, in front of a nearby TV camera.

My recollection is that the documents were proven false almost immediately after Rather aired them. Didn´t take two weeks.

#7, you are correct. Within 36 hours, the blogmaster of Little Green Footballs, I believe he was Scott Johnson, produced the famous ´throbbing memo" (still on the net if you Google it), which overlayed on the Rather document a new copy of the same memo retyped with Microsoft Word. This new copy had the exact same pixel-for-pixel spacing and justification as the supposed 1973 Rather document, proving that his document had also been typed with Word. The MSM ignored this damning indictment.

Proponents of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insist that the law will extend health insurance to millions, expand access to health care, and improve Americans’ overall health. But, as the New York Times recently reported, at least 20 percent of the new enrollees have not paid their premiums. They therefore do not really have insurance. But even for those enrollees paying premiums, having health insurance is not the same thing as getting good health care, or any health care. In fact, it doesn’t matter how many Americans obtain insurance under the ACA. Most will have difficulty finding a physician. Many Americans

INDIANAPOLIS | A Portage airman was among the Hoosier troops stationed in Germany that Gov. Mike Pence met Monday on the first stop of his jobs mission to Indiana´s largest European trading partner. Lt. Benjamin DeLaCruz, a 2007 Portage High School graduate, helped show the Republican governor and first lady Karen Pence around the sprawling Ramstein Air Base and participated in a discussion with the governor about the role of U.S. forces in Europe. "On behalf of the men and women serving overseas, I would like to thank Gov. Pence for visiting Ramstein today," DeLaCruz said in a statement released by the

Exactly forty years ago Patricia Hearst stunned the nation when she turned up as a bank robber, a mere two months after she was kidnapped by the violent cult that called itself “The Symbionese Liberation Army.” Her astonishing transformation was documented by bank cameras on April 15, 1974. There she was — granddaughter of William Randolph “Citizen Kane” Hearst — wielding a sawed-off assault rifle and terrorizing people in a bank. She had recently announced in a taped SLA communique that she had voluntarily joined the SLA in its fight against the “fascist” United States. She took the nom de

Chevron, Dole cases expose lawyer corruption

A few years ago, the corruption convictions of several prominent plaintiffs´ lawyers put a spotlight on dishonesty in American civil courts. Now the sleaze has burst back into the news with cases involving Chevron and Dole Food Co., this time with an international twist. Last month, a federal court in Manhattan found that a U.S. plaintiffs´ lawyer had masterminded a multibillion dollar fraud and extortion scheme against Chevron in Ecuador. Three days later, a California appellate court affirmed the dismissal of a lawsuit against Dole as a "fraud on the court" perpetrated by U.S. and Nicaraguan plaintiffs´ lawyers. These rulings are welcome

NFL players have Most Valuable Player awards. Major League Baseball players strive for Cy Youngs and Gold Gloves. For journalists, it´s the Pulitzer. Every year, when Pulitzers are announced, most of them are awarded to big corporate media outlets with huge staffs and budgets devoted specifically to the contest. But not always. On Monday, David Philipps, an investigative reporter for the Colorado Springs Gazette, claimed a Pulitzer for his three-day series, Other Than Honorable. Philipps exposed the shameful treatment of members of the U.S. military, many of them wounded combat veterans, in the drawdown of American military forces. Too often,

Another sob story in the left-wing media about Dzhokhar Tsarnaev? Yesterday it was the turn of The New York Times, under the headline, “Marathon Bombing Suspect Waits in Isolation.” Needless to say, the ACLU is up in arms. Boo-hoo-hoo. And if he were in general population, rest assured the headline would have been, “Marathon Bombing Suspect Waits in Fear of his Life.” Needless to say, the ACLU would be up in arms. This one was perfectly timed — on the first anniversary of the Joker placing one of his kettle bombs in front of little Martin Richard, who had moments

Four years after Obamacare became law, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is notifying Medicare providers and suppliers of new fingerprint-based background checks. Eventually, all individuals who hold a five percent or greater stake in a Medicare supplier or provider that is categorized as "high risk" will be subject to the requirement. The provision is part of the Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP Program Integrity Provisions (Title E) of the Affordable Care Act, and gives the HHS secretary broad discretion in applying the background check requirements depending on the potential for abuse, fraud, and/or waste. The new requirements are spelled

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as
