| Public health officials are searching for more than 4,500 people who they believe have been exposed to a deadly outbreak of tuberculosis in Los Angeles, as part of a huge effort to contain the disease. Scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are in downtown Los Angeles to help officials determine why the disease is spreading and to stop it in its tracks. Eleven people have died from the disease since 2007, and a total of 78 cases have been noted. Of these, 60 were homeless people living in an area known as skid row. "Why the disease is spreading?" Let me guess. And it isn´t necessarily Hispanics. Try Pakistanis and (subcontinent) Indians. Pakistan is #5 in the world for TB and 61% of the Eastern Mediterranean. India accounts for 20% of global TB.

If you want to see just how stupid the U.S. Supreme Court can be, google Arline v. Nassau County (Florida) 1987.
The decision was the final one and the dumbest one written by associate justice brennan.
Arline was an elementary teacher with recurring TB. Brennan essentially put her back to work. (He remanded, but the effect was return to work.)
It was absolutely insane to put the job rights of Arline over the group health rights of the chillun in her class. But Brennan did exactly that.

There´s a lot of TB in people from Russia and the former Soviet states too. It´s a terrible problem there, and I fear it will only get worse here.
