| John Kiriakou stood in the ninth-floor banquet hall of the Hay-Adams hotel Thursday night and took in the spectacular view of the White House and the Washington Monument. He recalled briefing two presidents during his career with the CIA. “It’s ironic,” he said, spreading his arms as if to embrace the tableau. “This really is the reason I came to Washington 30 years ago in the first place.” But next Thursday he will check into the Federal Correctional Institution in Loretto, Pa., to begin a 30-month sentence for divulging information that prosecutors said could harm his country.

I knew I smelled a rat. FTA "The $20,000 farewell bash — open bar for two hours — was underwritten by Oakland, Calif.-based activist and heiress Naomi Pitcairn and co-hosted by Code Pink, the theatrical peace group."
How many of the attendees pictured are current CIA employees, who are supposed to protect our country? Our entire government is populated by Commies.

That´s the real problem with all this. We can mercilessly blow our enemy away from the air with missles, bombs or 20mm cannon-fire but, heaven forbid we twist their arms for any purpose. I guess I have a little trouble understanding the moral distinction these people seem to be trying to make. In the end, what´s worse... being dead or having some disability as a result of torture at the hands of the same people who could have just as easily killed you? I wonder if John McCain would have rather been dead since the time his fighter crashed in Vietnam.

Narcissism again.
Maybe it is catching. There seems to be a lot of it going around. The odor of sanctity is overpowering at times. One begins to fear that such people will burst open from their self-righteousness.
They really do admire themselves.

Jay Leno continued his humorous attacks on the current White House resident Thursday devoting much of his opening monologue to the various scandals plaguing the Administration. At one point, the NBC Tonight Show host joked, “It is not looking good for President Obama. Today his teleprompter took the fifth.” JAY LENO: I´m sure you know by now, Anthony Weiner, the peter tweeter, you know that whole story. Well, he announced he is running for mayor of New York City, but he´s having some problems. A lot of Democrats are distancing themselves from him. They say he doesn´t

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will appeal a federal judge´s ruling that his agency systematically singled out Latinos in its trademark immigration patrols, marking the first finding by a court that the agency racially profiles people. Tim Casey, the lead attorney representing America´s self-proclaimed toughest sheriff in the case, said an appeal of the finding that the agency racially profiles people was planned in the next 30 days. The decision by U.S. District Judge Murray Snow in Phoenix backs up years of allegations from Arpaio´s critics who say his officers violate the constitutional rights of Latinos

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder’s fingerprints are all over an FBI warrant that authorized snooping on Fox News reporter James Rosen, the Justice Department confirmed yesterday. The FBI warrant that sought Rosen’s private e-mails as part of a leak investigation and called him a possible “co-conspirator” in a crime was authorized “at the highest levels of the department, including discussions with the Attorney General,” according to the Justice Department. “The Department takes seriously the First Amendment right to freedom of the press,” the agency said in the statement, saying it took “great care” in deciding to

WASHINGTON— US President Barack Obama set out Thursday to redefine the US fight against global terrorism. But despite calling for a more targeted and not "boundless" theater of global operations, Obama left the specifics and timelines for action, by which his success or failure can be measured, out of his big speech. Here are some critical questions Obama did not raise or answer in the address at the National Defense University. Guantanamo Bay timeline-Obama renewed his call for the closure of the Guantanamo Bay camp for terror suspects in Cuba. But he did not provide

Schools and police stations were burning in Stockholm as violent riots continued for a fifth consecutive night. Emergency services were called to 70 separate incidents, including two torched primary schools, burning shops and a destroyed library building also housing a local police unit. Despite police claiming that the situation is beginning to calm down, critics say the riots were unavoidable after years of widening social gaps in a country which has the highest proportion of foreign-born citizens in Scandinavia.

The lawyer picked Thursday to succeed Patrick Fitzgerald as Chicago´s U.S. attorney is a former federal prosecutor best known for taking on corrupt politicians and powerful institutions such as the University of Notre Dame. Zachary Fardon would take over an office that has made its mark nationally by putting crooked government officials behind bars but increasingly faces pressure to do more to help in the fight against Chicago´s violent street gangs. The Democratic National Committee is accusing the GOP of "making up so-called ´scandals´ out of thin air." In an email to supporters, DNC Spokesman Brad Woodhouse writes that Republicans´ accusations of scandal aren´t legitimate — a claim that´s sure to draw howls from the right."Getting in President Obama´s way has been the top priority for Republicans in Congress since day one. But now they´ve gone too far. They´ve been caught red-handed making up so-called ´scandals´ out of thin air to stir up false rumors of vast ´cover-ups´ happening in the White House," Woodhouse writes. "Did they find a single shred

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience

WASHINGTON —In a dramatic departure from existing White House procedures, President Obama requested today that his staff start cc’ing him on stuff. “Look, I know a lot of you think I’m really busy and you don’t want to bother me,” the President reportedly told his staff in an Oval Office meeting. “But cc me anyway. It’s good for me to keep up on what’s going on around here.” “It’s not good when I turn on the news and they’re talking about something at the White House and I’m like, whoa, when did that happen?”
