Oscar Pistorius´ bail hearing
already mirroring the spectacle
that was the O.J. Simpson trial

If just the bail hearing is like this in the Oscar Pistorius murder case, the actual trial is going to end up making the O.J. Simpson trial look like a more serious legal exercise than Nuremberg. Reeva Steencamp, whom Pistorius says he mistook for an intruder and shot three times through a locked bathroom door, has only been dead a week. Already you can see there will probably be as much justice for her in a criminal trial as there was for Nicole Brown Simpson. Just off what we have seen already from the South African legal system

How long before the left starts rallying around this guy just like Dorner? And what about the PED´s this guy had in the room. He´d get a life sentence in this country for that alone.

I suspect he will also not be held responsible. Way too many mistakes made already and he is a "national hero."

It appears the sports journaListers are all on board with the OJ analogy. Beyond two high profile athletes, the crimes have zero in common. How about covering the Pistorius story as the stand-alone crime it is?

Agree with #6. Lazy journalism, and Lupica may be the laziest out there.

Mark Fuhrman is busy solving this one on Fox. He already has Pistorius convicted and set for the death penalty. But he is the detective who ended up being portrayed as the Botha of the OJ trial.

FOX is looking silly with this also, spending so much time on the judge talking about bail. Had to turn the channel, went to HGTV at least you can watch a remodel or FoodNetwork, make some tasty dish.

With any luck, this shiny object will distract all of us from the 2 weeks in jail that Jesse Jackson will probably suffer for his ´mistake´.

A man on probation as a “non-violent offender” under California’s prison realignment program has been charged with kidnapping, raping, and torturing a 16-year-old girl in South Los Angeles, and detectives suspect he may be connected to three other recent murders. Robert L. Ranson, 30, was arrested in late March after the girl escaped from a U-Haul van in an alley near Imperial Highway and New Hampshire Ave., according to police and booking records. The girl was covered in gasoline and said her attacker, later identified as Ranson, had tied her hands and taped her mouth, and was trying to light her on

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) has been waging a campaign demanding safety accountability for the Metro-North railway this week after it was discovered that the MTA has had 139 violations resulting in $552,000 worth of fines over the last ten years. But as he discovered this week, there is also an element of personal responsibility when it comes to commuter train safety. Blumenthal was holding a press conference Friday on the Milford Metro-North station platform when an Amtrak train came barreling into the station and almost knocked him out cold. Just as Milford Mayor Ben Blake was saying, “safety, as you know,

Despite being shot in the head twice, a young boy credits his faith in God for keeping him alive and able to sing his praises. A double Easter miracle will occur today as a 13-year-old Brooklyn boy who survived being shot two times in the head watches a live-streamed concert by the crouch choir in which he would otherwise have been singing. “They are giving me a lap top,” said miracle kid Gama Droiville from his bed in the pediatric unit at Kings County Hospital on Saturday. And anybody who wants to join young Gama in watching an Easter service

With little fanfare, Vermont is preparing to become the first state to implement a single-payer, government-run health-care system. The Vermont plan, if implemented, would abolish private health insurance in the state and replace it with a taxpayer-funded system under which the state government directly pays doctors and hospitals. Of course the state is having a bit of trouble figuring out how to pay for the program’s estimated $2 billion price tag, considering that the entire state government’s operating budget is currently just $2.7 billion. Currently under consideration is an increase in the state sales tax from 6.9% to 29%. At

Western lawmakers gather in Utah

It’s time for Western states to take control of federal lands within their borders, lawmakers and county commissioners from Western states said at Utah’s Capitol on Friday. More than 50 political leaders from nine states convened for the first time to talk about their joint goal: wresting control of oil-, timber -and mineral-rich lands away from the feds. "It’s simply time," said Rep. Ken Ivory, R-West Jordan, who organized the Legislative Summit on the Transfer for Public Lands along with Montana state Sen. Jennifer Fielder. "The urgency is now." Utah House Speaker Becky Lockhart, R-Provo, was flanked by a dozen participants, including

The Clintons´ ´conspiracy commerce´ memo

The famous Clinton White House document known as "the conspiracy commerce memo" has finally surfaced. The memo, which details how right-wing conspiracy theories made their way into the mainstream press, was written in 1995 and first acknowledged by the White House in 1997. The idea of a “conspiracy” was also famously referred to by Hillary Clinton in 1998, when she cited a “vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he ran for president.” The memo, part of the latest trove of documents released by the Clinton Presidential Library on Friday, outlines “the communication stream of conspiracy

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after
