Understanding the GOP’s
Benghazi Obsession

Time Magazine, by Michael Crowley

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 2/21/2013 2:08:19 PM

For the past five months, the Republican message on foreign policy message has been defined by a single word: Benghazi. Ever since the deadly September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in that Libyan city, Republicans have obsessed over the episode. Mitt Romney made Benghazi a favorite talking point in the 2012 campaign home stretch. More recently, Republicans have invoked Benghazi to shoot down one would-be cabinet nominee, Susan Rice, and delay two others, Chuck Hagel and John Brennan. They have dragged a parade of administration officials, including Hillary Clinton

Comments:
You can tell this has Barry and his media lackeys nervous. This is a whitewash piece which pretty much acknowledges the incompetence and subsequent cover-up, but then wonders why people insist on getting to the bottom of it.
America better keep up the pressure because this stinks.

Let me be first: What difference, at this point, does it make?

GOP trying to get the truth out of the Dems about a scandal is called an Obsession.

Media covering for said Dems should be called a disgrace.

Remember the Valerie Plane affair? That was a complete pseudo-scandal made up out of whole cloth by leftists within our government - an investigation initiated without an underlying crime - a complete farce and total witch hunt, and these clowns have the nerve to ask what the GOP´s obsession is ?
We have credible evidence of the POTUS and Sec. State, both with documented histories of lying to the public, conspiring to cover-up the murder of several U.S. citizens, including an ambassador, to conceal the fact that their policies have failed and that they ignored warnings of the attacks. Bill and Hillary got away with the flight 800 cover-up, Barry and Hillary ought not skate away from this.

Can we all go back and remember the fuss, obsession of Valerie Plame? Absolutely nothing there. Nothing. Here four people died including an Ambassador. What is wrong with these people.

The Accountability Review Board can hardly be classified as independent. Hillary appointed the members.

Dereliction of duty, which Obama appears guilty of, is a high crime.

Trying to find out why 4 people died unnecessarily is now considered an obsession.

We are a sick nation.

No one died. Iran-Contra? Who was briefed on the situation as part of a scheduled 5 PM half hour meeting with Defense and Intelligence but made no follow ups over the course of the night - Obama

Who sought no information from Defense or Intelligence - Hillary Clinton

Who received the only known communication from Obama around 10 PM - Hillary Clinton

Who made the first reference to a cheesy video - Hillary Clinton

I found it interesting that within the entire article, no mention was made of what happened. Oh, it was "deadly" and a "tragedy" and he even made a vague mention of 4 American deaths. But nothing was described or explained as though we ALL know exactly the incident that the author refers to because it´s been explained so well so many times.

What a load of hogwash.

Gee Michael. With a puff piece like this you may be invited to the next presidential trap shoot at Camp David.
By the way in case you didn´t notce, no on was fired at State for this incompetence, they were merely hidden in other jobs.
Gany Crowley sould have been fired for the misinformation she provided at the debate, and it was obvious that she had been prepared by the 0blamer machine for that scene.
Further there is an ill w blowing in the mieast today, in case you had not noticed.
Maybe you should watch 2016 for some original, if seemingly outrageous ideas.
Just keep them in the back of your mind if you get short of ideas for a motive.

We must accept the fact that our president cares nothing about those Americans killed in Benghazi - one ambassador, one consulate employee, two CIA operatives that were former Seals. Obama does not care about anyone other than his daughters and Valerie Jarrett. He only cares about his own power.

The legacy media is beginning to admit to themselves they have been duped and used. It´s too late for them to do the right thing.

As for Hillary, she cares only about her political future. She has no value and will be almost 70 years old, older than Goofus Biden, when she hopes to run form president. An old white Democrat surrounded by more old white Democrats.

It is becoming more and more clear Obama does not plan to leave in 2016.

I´m so sorry to burst your bubble(head) Mikey but you nitwits in the press have helped Odumbo and his administration lie, cover up and dismiss the truth about Benghazi. The GOP liquid spined eunichs need to pound this issue to get to the truth of the matter. The people who died and those that were injured deserve nothing less. Also if this keeps the Obamanation under it´s well deserved black cloud so much the better.

First, Obama and Clinton denied our people any security in a nation that barely had a government and had a violent revolution. That is a gross violation of common sense and worthy of a charge of homicide against those that refused to provide any security and for Clinton because of her refusal to do her job.

While our people were under attack no effort was made to rescue them despite the fact that we had jets 1 hour away in Italy. Someone told our on the scene Seals to stand down and do nothing while our people were murdered. Obama even fired an admiral and general for refusing to obey an order to provide no help. Lastly, even though Obama knew that our people were being murdered, he got good night’s sleep. Clinton was right about 3 AM phone calls.

After the attack Obama´s primary concern was preventing knowledge of his failures from affecting his reelection. He spent weeks lying about a video. He lied again in the debate when he claimed that he called it a terrorist attack. Then there was his promise to make the attackers pay for these murders. It was a lie. Obama doesn´t want to catch them. He must be afraid of what these terrorists will say? Was Obama providing weapons to Al Qaeda? Did they use the weapon Obama provided to murder our people? Judging on Obama´s past actions, such as fast and furious, you have to expect the worst from Obama.

So in light of these failures and the murders of our people why hasn’t Time and the rest of the Obama media asked any questions of Obama? Why haven’t they investigated this disaster? The answer is that they aren’t reporters anymore. They belong to the Goebbels school of journalism now.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he´ll "probably" make a decision about running for president sometime in 2015. The Republican, who is seeking a second term in November as governor, has taken heat recently for appearances with President Obama and former President Bill Clinton. Christie said on MSNBC´s Morning Joe program that he´s not concerned with how appearances with high-profile democrats might affect his political future. "My job is to do my job," Christie said, as he defended his appearance last week at the Clinton Global Initiative

A National Rifle Association television ad targeting Democratic West Virginian Senator Joe Manchin for his work with President Barack and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to draft new gun control legislation uses a shaded photo of the African-American president that makes him appear darker and, according to some critics, more sinister. If there’s one thing we know about Americans, it’s that they love a winner. By extension, they can be very tough on those who don’t. I’ve often wondered whether that’s why so many people seem unwilling to give Jimmy Carter his due. Yes, Carter was president of the United States during four tumultuous years, 1977-’81. He had his share of crises to deal with: 52 Americans held hostage in Iran, the Soviets invading Afghanistan, stagflation, lineups for gasoline around the block thanks to a squeeze by the OPEC nations, not to mention Three Mile Island and the petty scandals

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
