| The acrimony surrounding Chuck Hagel´s confirmation to lead the Defense Department has caused a handful of Senators to formally ask the White House to withdraw his nomination. The almost unprecedented step has capped weeks of debate over Hagel´s fitness for the job. In an effort led by TX Sen. John Cornyn, 11 GOP Senators have signed a letter asking the White House to drop Hagel´s nomination. While other Senators are likely to add their names to the letter, the current 11 signers make a symbolic point. In the history of the office,

Comments: That will cause Hagel and 0bama just to dig in their heels. In no way will they ever work with Republicans.

"RINO" Cornyn has a 93 lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union (CPAC).
Hagel´s awful, but whoever Obama picks to replace him will be as bad or worse.

#2, you are right but CPAC is hardly 100% principled itself sometimes. Cornyn and the others engaging in another "oh please Mr President, Your highness, help us out here, we can ´t just vote no..,".

Only Democrats can stop Hagel. GOP is wasting there time here. The under secretary Carter will run the DOD.

Actually Senator Corrnyn has a low nineties percentage rating from Americans For Prosperity, I think 93 percent. Their ratings for all Congresspersons came out a few days ago. I was very surprised. His rating is higher than Jim DeMint´s.

Senator Cornyn could be better, but could also be much worse. he could be classed as moderatly conservative. Better than the former pom pom girl, Hutchinson.

The only reason Dear Leader would withdraw Hagel´s name would be to nominate someone worse. Maybe Van Jones?

Cornyn is NOT a conservative! He voted to confirm Hillary Clinton, Holder, Sotamayor and Kagen just for starters.
Cornyn declared war on the TEA Party and supported fellow RINOs like Crist, Murkowski and everybody´s favorite RINO turncoat Arlen Specter.

The dear leader is not interested in governing or accountability, the thug is only interested in sowing confusing and establishing incompetence in our body politic. He won´t withdraw Chuck. In fact I´ll bet Barry is enjoying the mayhem he´s generated.

Hey, I love it when the junior Senator inspires/drives the senior Senator to be more conservative. Asking Obama to withdraw Hagel´s name allows Obama to save face without forcing the GOP to filibuster the nomination.

#9, I get it that you´re unhappy with John Cornyn, but he is my senator, too, and I have voted for him each time he has been on a ballot in Texas. I don´t know what Texan you think will do a better job of representing our state. Perfection is unattainable, my friend. Settle for the almost perfect, instead.

In 2007, then Senator Barack Obama appeared on CNN´s Larry King Live and called on U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign. Obama said Gonzales was acting more like the president´s attorney than the people´s attorney and viewed himself as an "enabler of the administration." "Well, I voted against Alberto Gonzales confirmation for precisely the reason we are seeing now. I said this on the floor of the senate, that although he seemed to be a capable attorney, he seemed to conceive his role as being the president´s attorney instead of being the people´s attorney," Obama said.

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

The way to prevent abortionists like convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell from occurring again is to build more Planned Parenthood clinics, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Thursday about legislation that would prevent abortion after 20 weeks nationwide. “I would urge my colleagues to think about the extent to which he, Dr. Gosnell, represented the poor quality of health care services available in poorer communities,” Nadler said at the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing. “We should be working to make sure that high quality

House Speaker John A. Boehner on Thursday flatly ruled out chances of the House passing the Senate’s immigration bill, saying his chamber will debate its own bill instead. The Ohio Republican and his top lieutenants in the party issued a joint statement that seemed designed to tamp down some of the momentum behind the Senate bill, which emerged from a committee on a bipartisan 13-5 vote this week, and to stake out a House GOP position. “While we applaud the progress made by our Senate colleagues, there are numerous ways in which

During friendly questioning from Rep. Hank “I fear that Guam will capsize!” Johnson in Congress last week, Attorney General Eric Holder offered the following statement. In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. He made that statement before the facts about the sweep on Fox News’ James Rosen were known. Since then, it’s come to light that Holder himself approved the subpoena that, among other things, named Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator.

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence. Cuomo invited

The National Council of La Raza (translation: The Race) has partnered with the Office of Personnel Management to encourage Hispanic activists and members to burrow into the federal government. A workshop sponsored by La Raza/The Race will take place in New Orleans on July 23, 2013. Senior Executive Service (SES) employees are federal government employees in special executive management positions, often with salaries approaching $200,000 per year (and well past that with benefits). OPM, a federal government agency, is cooperating and partnering

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
