| BROOKS COUNTY - Different organizations from across Texas gathered Wednesday in front of the Brooks County Courthouse to address the issue of unidentified remains of immigrants.There were 129 bodies of immigrants found last year in Brooks County alone. The Sheriff´s Department said that, of those 129, the identities of 68 were unknown. "This is a crisis that´s occurring now," said Tom Power of the Texas Civil Rights Project. "If we don´t move to address this right now, we think that the numbers are only going to increase." Power was one of the many immigrant advocates that spoke on Wednesday.

Sounds like they were probably illegal border crossers. An immigrant is a person who leaves one country to settle permanently in another.
Illegal border crossers sneak into the USA for various reasons but establishment of permanent residency is not their main goal.

Aa a Texan, this is one crisis that disturbes me little. If they had properly entered the U.S. and Texas they would not be unidentified. Some are most likely victems of Mexico´s drug wars. They are Mexico´s problem, not Texas´; however, the left needs something to be offended about.

So much for being practical about the whole thing? Not with these so called ´human rights´ groups - this is just another way to bankrupt local government. Just think of it - the deceased cannot be ID´d - for many reasons. The #1 reason being they died with no ID´s on their remains - said ID´s were not there or were removed by whomever etc. Even if the State does DNA testing - which is really prohibitively expensive - there are few practical clues as to who these people are. OTOT illegals from SA tend to come from places where there is not much of a paper trail - like a birth certificate. Human smugglers bring in non-Spanish speakers from ´native´ territories - so when these poor people get to the states they are totally dependent on the smuggler for communication.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
