| The NCAA on Wednesday sued Pennsylvania hours after Gov. Tom Corbett signed a law mandating that all of Penn State´s $60 million fine for the Jerry Sandusky child-rape scandal be spent in the state. The NCAA claims the law is unconstitutional, arguing that Pennsylvania officials cannot dictate or limit how and where the college athletics governing body spends the money. An NCAA task force has been drafting guidelines for how to spend the fine, which the sports authority levied last summer in a consent decree with the university.

The NCAA had better fold their hand pretty quickly.
If they assert the right to act decisively and unilaterally in the best interest of the NCAA, how can they restrain Pennsylvania from acting decisely and unilaterally in the best interest of Pennsylvania?

It´s an assessed penalty and they are under NCAA rules. Does Penn really want to walk away from the NCAA? If not, pay up. Who are they going to play without the NCAA? Woing to join them. Seems short sighted.

Where does the NCAA get its authority from to mandate how a state spends that money. I knew this was going to be a issue. Basically, the NCAA is under fire as its authority is being challenged. Penn just wants to take this to federal court to see how it goes.
The NCAA is oppressive and needs to go away. Hopefully Penn and Miami will lead the way in exposing them as frauds. They outlived their usefulness with how it treats athletes and coaches. I can see fake child abuse prevention organizations in California, NY, Nevada with their hand out to the NCAA for Penn money. Really? They can´t even manage their own internal affairs let along 60M.
It´s war. The colleges need to re-organize themselves into conferences that will allow for playoffs in football, etc. NCAA has its days numbered hopefully. PSU got punished. I have issues with the money part.

A Central Florida man who was shot and killed by an FBI agent early Wednesday morning was being investigated by the FBI and Massachusetts authorities in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. The FBI told the Orlando Sentinel that during the early morning hours Wednesday, an FBI agent — along with two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel — were interviewing 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by Todashev.

Biden has long, deep ties to the Jewish community — Obama actually picked him in 2008 in part to reassure skittish Jewish Democrats. Biden indeed offered fulsome, heartfelt praise in his remarks, before wandering into highly uncomfortable terrain and delivering a speech that is likely to be quoted by anti-Semites for years and decades to come. The Internal Revenue Service last year supplied a left-leaning nonprofit charity with confidential information about conservative organizations, which the charity disseminated to the public, ProPublica reported yesterday. The charity in question was ProPublica itself. We should acknowledge that "left-leaning" is our characterization; ProPublica describes itself in its own tax filings as "entirely non-partisan and non-ideological." If it is proven that the IRS thwarted some groups from obtaining tax-exempt status in fear that their traditional or conservative messages might hurt the 2012 Obama campaign (especially if it did so under pressure from White House-affiliated operatives), and if it is proven that the Obama administration deliberately ignored warnings about lax security at the Benghazi consulate, missed real opportunities to send help, or deliberately massaged intelligence reports in order to mislead the pre-election public about the true nature of Benghazi in order to further a false campaign narrative of a near dormant al-Qaeda

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.
