| President Obama on Wednesday renewed his call for Congress to spend $50 billion to improve the nation´s roads and infrastructure. The proposal is a repackaging of Obama proposals from his 2011 "American Jobs Act" and he previewed it in last week´s State of the Union address. The White House outlined the plan in a press release Wednesday, saying Obama wants to spend $40 billion on “most urgent upgrades” to highways, bridges, public transportation systems and airports. The remaining $10 billion of the plan would go toward

Obama, you already did that with TARP, didn´t you? Obama, will you be available for the GAO auditors to examine those TARP expenditures next week? Taxpayers need to know that their TARP money went to roads and bridges.

We need to maintain and improve our infrastructure. Just a couple of questions. How much of it is going to blue states and also how much is going to BHO donors? How was the $50 billion arrived at? Where will the $50 billion come from? Make up a list and send it to the House for line item approval.

These are the things that government is supposed to be doing -- the things that Barry said "you didn´t build". We raise enough revenue to pay for this hundreds of times over. But its all frittered away on social spending, which government should NOT be doing. We tax payers don´t object to paying our "fair share" for roads, when necessary, but to tell us we don´t pay our fair share and we "didn´t build that" when it comes to social spending is a slap in the face.

#5 Which has not been raised in over 20 years. Building roads/bridges cost more today than back then. Raising gas tax $.05 would not be a bad thing. In WY, a total RED state, just raised theirs $.10. What happened to ´no new taxes´?

We´ve all driven by roads and bridges under construction. Maybe 40 to 50 people max (all union) doing the actual work. Maybe Obama thinks we do these things like a 3rd world country. Road gangs building the whole thing with picks, shovels and wheelbarrows. The real winners are unions, equipment, concrete and steel companies (his donors).

There he goes again! ...The dem pols routinely divert taxpayer´s money from their taxpayer entrustd responsibilities of maintaining & upgrading America´s infrastructure, to instead, engrandizing their cronies & pet social manipulation projects. Then, when the infrastructure inevitably breaks down, the dem pols are eager to once again demand raising taxes in order to rebuild the crumbling roads, bridges, etc, ...& sewer system as is the case in KC. Yada, yada, yada, the beat goes on ad nauseum.
This routine dem ploy to raise taxes is their party´s standard circular tax policy, -their modus opperandi over the years, due to their dishonorable, sometimes dishonest, and totally irresponsible misplaced priorities. The dem pols simply ignore their own oaths of office because their priorities for getting elected are skewed from the git/go. America the Beautiful and that for which it stands deserves far better!

If Obe would get his butt out of the clouds and take a real bus trip he would soon learn that road and bridges along with choo choo train rails are not pick and shovel ready jobs. Let us suggest the one highway from northern to mid Idaho through constricting mountain passes as his moving classroom. Of course he could try southern Idaho areas too where Bannock county alone has 42 mountain peaks. If he is lucky he can experience a rock or snow slide along the w ay.

The Democratic Party´s edge over the GOP on who the public trusts more on ethics and corruption issues has flipped in the wake of the IRS and Benghazi scandals, according to Rasmussen Reports. Not only do voters trust Republicans more now, they have their highest level of confidence in the GOP and the lowest level in Democrats in seven months. While the Democrats had an eight-point "trust advantage" over Republicans a month ago, Rasmussen´s latest poll said that edge has disappeared and now the GOP has a two-point advantage. Danger. Danger. Al Qaeda’s Syrian wing also known as “rebels” bent on overthrowing Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad (mirroring the Saudi, the Obama administration and Republican Senator John McCain’s position), have taken over the oilfields that once belonged to Assad. If that wasn’t bad enough it gets worse. We are a hair trigger away from World War III. Reportedly Assad is preparing missile strikes against Tel Aviv if Syria is attacked again. Meanwhile, back in Obama’s America, don’t call Libya’s weapon recovery program “buyback” that then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton funded using $40 million of your tax dollars

The current scene doesn´t look so great. We´ve got the Benghazi scandal, which Bob Woodward has compared to Watergate, we´ve got the IRS scandal, where Democratic members of Congress are saying the IRS director lied, we´ve got the FBI AP-snooping scandal, we´ve got the HHS "private donation" shakedown scandal, and, of course, there´s the still-unfolding Pigford scandal that has funneled billions to grifters. It seems like everything is in tatters. And, in a way, it is. But serious as these problems are, they´re all short-term things. So while at the moment a lot of our political leaders

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

In Tuesday´s Senate hearings into the ever-widening IRS scandal, outgoing IRS chief, Steve Miller, acknowledged that the planted question that broke the story last week was his idea. The "planted question" refers to the way in which the IRS chose to release the findings of the Inspector General´s report a week ago Friday. It was an unusual way to deliver bad news, even in a town known for its selective leaks, Friday-night news dumps and wag-the-dog distractions. The Internal Revenue Service, apparently determined to get out ahead of an inspector general report critical of its handling of tax exemptions

Cybercrime and efforts to thwart computer attacks have finally crossed the $1 trillion a year line and Chinese sources are to blame for 89 percent of the high-tech assaults, according to a leading computer security executive and the National Security Administration. The wave of attacks has surged in the past three years to such a level, however, that efforts to defend and fight back haven´t kept up, prompting officials to call for international treaties to cover cyberspace, sanctions on countries that attack U.S. databases and even computer revenge. According to David DeWalt, chairman of the computer

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.
