Report: Universal theme park
will quit offering healthcare
to part-time workers

A 17,000-employee Florida theme park says it´s dropping healthcare benefits for part-time workers as a result of President Obama´s healthcare law. Universal Orlando will quit offering coverage because its bare-bones plan is about to become illegal, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. Only about 500 of the park´s thousands of part-time workers are enrolled in the healthcare plan, the Sentinel reported. Universal offers what´s known as a "mini-med" plan. The policies offer low premiums, but also come with tight caps on the benefits they´ll pay out. Universal´s, for example, will only cover $5,000 per year in hospital stays.

Comments:
We will see hundreds of stories just like this over the next year. And the low information voters will all blame the Republicans for this disaster, or will they.

Didn´t Fla vote Obama back in ? This is the result, folks. Not what you expected. Then next time, think before you vote.

Well it´s stange...

But it was said that around 30-40 million people did not have any health care coverage before Obamacare, now that it´s going into effect, it appears that over 100 million may be without healthcare! Hmmmmmm?

All part of the plan, my friends. The goal has been single payer healthcare all along.

If I were a med student, I would drop out this afternoon.

Fl has always been a red state. It is currently being inundated with people from NY, CT, NJ, you name it. It is now a borderline blue state. People are uneducated and accordingly vote democrat.

Funny how they run away from high taxes and progressive liberal socialist schtick but keep voting in the same way in their new home.

They support nothing local and everything that is from their former home state (Yankees, Jets, and other crappola).

This rolling ball is picking up speed. Wait until the howling starts.

This is one debacle that Obama can´t hide from, blame republicans, or former President Bush. Not even an ongoing invasion of invisible space aliens.

It´s his legacy and it won´t be pretty.

Reject pipeline´s jobs pipe dreams

President Barack Obama knows the dangers of not going far enough or fast enough to stop the climate crisis. History will celebrate his decision to lead us toward a clean energy economy that solves climate change and creates long-term, sustainable jobs for Americans. But achieving this awesome goal requires that we reject the TransCanada Corp.’s proposal to build the Keystone XL pipeline, which would cut through the heartland of America. This is a simple decision for a president who supports protecting our climate and creating jobs. Returning our economy to stable growth requires Americans to

What does a murderous jihadist terrorist have to do to get some recognition for his cause? You hack a British soldier to death in broad daylight on a London street while shouting “Allahu akbar” and then “swear by the almighty Allah” that you’ll never stop fighting, and the U.S. broadcast networks still can’t bring themselves to utter a word about Islam. True, the ABC CBS and NBC evening broadcasts called the attack “terrorism,” but for all the information they gave viewers, the attackers might have been Basque separatists or animal rights zealots. Republican Rep. Darrell Issa declared Thursday that the embattled IRS official who refused to testify Wednesday had no right to do so, and is now looking to haul her back before his committee. The chairman of the House oversight committee made the call after consulting with attorneys about IRS official Lois Lerner´s bizarre appearance before the panel on Wednesday. Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division which oversaw the controversial targeting of conservative groups, caused confusion Wednesday morning when she pleaded the Fifth and refused to answer questions -- but also delivered an opening statement in which

Treasury Secretary: ‘We are

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew told Congress that President Obama’s administration is “overachieving on deficit reduction,” as he defended the president for submitting a budget that never balances. “If anything, we are overachieving on deficit reduction right now, given where we are in terms of the current year and immediate economic needs,” Lew told Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., while testifying Wednesday before the House Financial Services Committee. “So, the goal, you know, should not be to balance the budget right now.” Lew then confirmed that budget policymakers should plan to raise taxes.

Freshman Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, suggested to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that he no longer represents the majority of Senate Republicans on the issue of increasing the debt ceiling — and he offered a bet to prove it. “There may be more ‘wacko birds’ in the Senate than is suspected,” Cruz said on the Senate floor, recalling the name that McCain once applied Cruz and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., after their talking filibuster against President Obama’s drone policy. To test the hypothesis, Cruz suggested that McCain circulate a letter to the GOP

A bipartisan group of House members introduced legislation on Wednesday to protect journalists from government snooping. “Freedom of the press is a foundational freedom upon which all of our other freedoms and liberties are based and protected,” said Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.). The Free Flow of Information Act, H.R. 1962, would protect reporters by preventing the government from compelling the disclosure of their source material, except under certain exceptions that must go through judicial review. Those exceptions include cases where it is necessary to prevent an act of terrorism, imminent death, or other harm to national security.

Under President Obama, "justice" is anything but blind. Neither is it deaf. In fact, based on recent revelations, it appears to be watching your every move and listening to your every word. Still, if you happen to be a federal employee, now it´s even listening for your silence. The only thing this Obama White House seems to generate is scandal. Well, here´s yet another to add to the growing list. In addition to the Benghazi cover-up, IRS targeting of political dissenters and the illegal seizure of media phone records, whistleblowers within DOJ have contacted Liberty Counsel

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state
