| A state lawmaker from St. Louis County is proposing to send colleagues to prison for introducing gun control legislation — a plan that even its sponsor acknowledges has no chance of passage but nonetheless highlights the increasingly strident tone of gun measures in Missouri´s generally pro-gun Legislature. Rep. Mike Leara said Tuesday that he considers his bill a statement of principle. It would make lawmakers guilty of a felony punishable by up to four years in prison if they introduce legislation restricting gun rights.

As stated, an unconstitutional proposal BUT that is exactly the point.
I love the howls from the gun-grabbers about this proposal and how it violates the First Amendment and other Constitutional protections. By doing so, they are vividly illustrating Mr. Leara´s point about their hypocrisy with respect to respecting the very Constitution they took an oath to support and defend.

The American ammo shortage has been a boon for foreign ammo makers as ammunition imports into the U.S. doubled during the first months of 2013. According to data from the Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission, imports of ammo cartridges as well as shotguns have just about doubled during the first two months of 2013. For the first two months of 2013, about 457 million cartridges were imported into the U.S. — more than double the amount of cartridges that were imported during the first two months of 2012.

The House was in no rush to take up an internet tax bill that senators approved Monday night. And even if the House takes up the issue, lawmakers said, it will be a bill very different from the Seante´s. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said to expect “thoughtful” consideration in the House, which will involve committee debate and amendments. The version passed in the Senate by a 69-27 vote “has a long way to go,” Goodlatte said Monday.

The Montgomery County Council approved a trio of pay raises for union employees, which will cost the county almost $32 million in fiscal 2014. The council approved the firefighters, police and county government employees union packages 8-1, with only Councilman Phil Andrews, D-Gaithersburg/Rockville, voting against the contracts. He repeatedly has said they´re too high and unsustainable. Though the packages span two years, the council approved only the first year of the deals, which would give employees an average of 7 to 10 percent raises.

Candy Crowley opened the Congressional “State of the Union” panel by providing her assessment that the national security infrastructure “worked” prior to the Boston Marathon bombings. Specifically, Crowley said it did not appear that authorities failed to share information or “connect the dots” with the Tsarnaev brothers: (Snip) The facts surrounding Crowley’s assertion seem to suggest otherwise. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
