Biden suggests shotgun,
not AR-15, for self-defense

Washington Times, by David Sherfinski

Vice President Joseph R. Biden encouraged people who want to defend themselves to buy a shotgun Tuesday and dismissed outright the comparison between a ban on illegal drugs and a ban on guns — rhetorically positing the idea of legalizing cocaine to make his point. Mr. Biden, in a wide-ranging Facebook town hall hosted by Parents Magazine, also said there is no one single measure that would be most effective in preventing future incidents of gun violence, but a number of them can help, including background checks on virtually all

Perhaps if you are defending yourself from a ruffed grouse, Biden, a shotgun would be useful.

For once, Biden is correct. A shotgun, close range, is more effective than an AR 15 for self defense.
But he misses the point. The second amendment was not included in the bill of rights to preserve the right of self defense. It was placed there to avoid tyranny.
He should have paid attention while he was attending the Syracuse University Law School, instead of cheating.

Unless, your shotgun is a semi-auto. Then I would agree.

1. As pointed out, they are not mutually exclusive. Get both. And some pistols. All calibers.

2. We don´t "need" AR-type rifles? Who the blazes are you to tell us what we need?

3. We don´t "need" an idiot for a Vice-President (or President, for that matter). And yet...there you are.

Biden does not like unexpected questions concerning liberal Democrat policy positions, as he is a liberal, and liberals always know best what is right for everybody.

Both an AR-15 with a 10 round magazine, and a 12 gauge pump action shotgun loaded with a number of rounds of #4 magnum shot, can do a lot of damage at close range.

The difference is that the liberal Democrat´s political game plan calls for specifically banning all semi-automatic AR-15s, along with most other such semi-automatic rifles and handguns first, then when they get that job done, they will come back and ban shotguns and other firearms that can hold more then one round.

No successful tyrant allowed the masses he ruled to be armed.

Barack Obama knows the ultimate success of his plans to "transform America" depends on his ability to subdue his opposition.

That will be much easier to do once we are substantially disarmed.

What he really said was to buy a double-barreled 12 gauge shotgun…and tell your wife that if she hears something rattling around outside to go to the door and fire both barrels into the air. That this would scare off anyone.. Dumb a**!!!!!

This coming from the idiot whose advice was to blindly shoot at any sound you hear outside your home. But even a blind squirrel...

Shotguns are a great home defense weapon, but I mentioned it on the other thread - you have to aim a shotgun! The shot spread is only a few inches at close range. Only in Hollywood does a shotgun blast a 3-foot radius from across a room.

Like any weapon, if you buy one, make sure you know how to use it.

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Despite promises to the contrary, it appears that State Senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) voted on bills that affect her clients and favorably impact the bottom line of her law firm. “I have never done anything in a way that represents a conflict in my voting and something that would benefit me personally,” she said in an interview, but state records seem to tell a different story. The Dallas Morning News´ Senior Political Writer Wayne Slater (DMN) reported that Davis supported legislation governing a toll road project. That would be all well and good except for the fact that the

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. But last Tuesday, Democrats lost their first election for the five-member Arlington County Board in 15 years when John Vihstadt, a Republican running as an independent, won a vacancy on

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. The Bureau of Land Management is headed by former longtime Reid aide Neil Kornze, who was confirmed by the Senate as BLM director on Tuesday, just as federal authorities descended on the cattle ranch outside Mesquite, Nev. Mr. Kornze issued a statement Saturday saying that the bureau would return the cattle and withdraw its agents from the ranch

On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

On a trip to Moscow early in her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton played the role of international saleswoman, pressing Russian government officials to sign a multibillion-dollar deal to buy dozens of aircraft from Boeing. A month later, Clinton was in China, where she jubilantly announced that the aerospace giant would be writing a generous check to help resuscitate floundering U.S. efforts to host a pavilion at the upcoming World’s Fair. Boeing, she said, “has just agreed to double its contribution to $2 million.” Clinton did not point out that, to secure the donation, the State Department

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it
