The University of Wisconsin Duluth-Superior is standing by a controversial campaign launched in 2012 to increase public awareness about racial favoritism by writing “unfair” on students’ faces along with a variety of grievances supposedly shared by minorities against Caucasians. The university released a statement last week defending the project and saying that the campaign is prepare to enter its second phase. “The creative materials for the campaign’s initial phase, launched in January 2012, were designed to be very provocative,” reads a statement released by the University. “UW-Superior understood and expressed serious concern
Comments: What do these morons gain by sowing racial discord in this country? It´s insane and outrageous.
Just another example of liberals trying to make the case that minorities, esp blacks are victims. After years of affirmative action, they still don´t seem to understand that you need to earn what you get, having it handed to you because of your color or race does not last. The best thing the minorities could do is to look within their own culture and see what is wrong and try to fix it rather than blaming it on everyone else like the libs and black, so called, leaders do now
One wonders what marketable skills or career building tools this sort of thing is supposed to provide. There is far too much fat in the educational establishment. We really cannot afford this kind of personal ax grinding and ideological play acting. Students should be attending classes to learn something, not to serve as paint by the numbers canvases for political cranks and zealots with nothing useful to impart. If citizens and taxpayers continue to stand for this kind of frivolous, useless, toxic nonsense, matters can only go from bad to worse. The diversity racket is . . . a racket.
Knowing the Duluth/Superior area quite well, I am wondering what minoirities this is intended to make feel better? The Native Americans are the only sizable non-white group up there. Otherwise, it´s all Swedes and Finns.
So are these ´professors´, and I use the term very loosely, black? If they are white they are true fools and should be kicked out along with the administrators who allowed this STUPID diversity ´campaign´. Their knowledge of humanity is too low to even be at a college. As if people chose their color, height, sex, etc...I can just see a campaign to see why blacks more resemble primates and demand to see if they really have tails and writing ´no tail´ on their foreheads...this would be controversial no? Who the heck would sign up for such a class? Where are the student protests? Are they all sheep? What´s next?
What is ´fair´? What is ´unfair´? It’s easy to say that A + B deciding what to take from C + D in order to give some of it to E + F. That, of course is fair. So are they saying that C + D didn´t give enough to E + F? Or did A + B do a poor job determining what C + D should give to E + F? They really do need to define their fairness criteria. Of course nothing in this ridiculous campaign has a thing to do with liberty. Liberty would mean A, B, C, D, E and F had choices and could decide, based on their needs, what was best for them.
Every damn well off conservative in this country who continually hands out money to these marxist pig stys needs to stop it immediately. I don´t give a damn if it´s your old alma mater , your tax breaks or what board you get to sit on. These damn so called institutions of higher learning have millions in endowment funds and have become factories for socialist punks. Dry em´ up ! Maybe one day we will get to read about some marxist loving profs getting pink slipped.
This kind of stupidity has the potential to make everyone feel more hatful toward minorities than any name calling or shunning. For Petes´ sake the country elected a Black president, why are people putting with this level of racism!
Ditto #28. I don´t give a damn if your college days were the most wonderful in your life, don´t give a dime to your old school if it puts up with this leftist crap and tell it why you will no longer give to them.
We are really down to the life and death of our country. We need to start voting with our dollars in everything we buy. Everything.
Underlying this behavior is ´´white guilt´´ over the ´´undeserved luck´´ of ... being born white. This really means that these guilty whites think so little of minorities that they think that the minorities somehow got a raw deal from their creator. This becomes the famous ´´White Mans´ Burden´´ where whites need to make it up to people of color (but not the crafty Asians - who may in fact be the white´s superior). This is really the behavior of an inherently smug (but hidden) racist.
Kind of like being born rich and feeling that you ´owe´ others some of your undeserved fortune.
The Department of Health and Human Services has crowned a YouTube video entitled “Forget About The Price Tag” as the grand prize winner in a contest meant to encourage young people to sign up for Obamacare. The video contest, announced in August — in partnership with a group called Young Invincibles — encouraged participants to produce clips filled with pro-Obamacare messaging. HHS’s grand prize-winning video, announced Monday by the White House, features a young woman named Erin McDonald singing an Obamacare-loving version of Jessie J’s hit single, “Price Tag.” Without a hint of irony, McDonald sings her chorus: “Ain’t about
A Texas middle school principal has been placed on paid leave after she banned the speaking of Spanish by students while in class. In Hempstead, a town of about 6,000 about 50 miles northwest of Houston, a school district spokeswoman confirmed that Amy Lacey has been placed on leave pending investigation of her Nov. 12 announcement over the intercom at Hempstead Middle School. More than 50 percent of the school enrollment of about 330 students is Hispanic. KHOU-TV of Houston reports a letter was sent by the district to school parents on December 2 assuring that neither the district nor
Republican lawmakers bashed the Obama administration at a House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday for opting not to enforce core parts of the Affordable Care Act, such as minimum requirements for individual healthcare plans. Rep. Trent Franks (Ariz.), the chairman of the Judiciary panel’s Constitution and Civil Justice subcommittee, said Congress should sue the administration to spur Obama to enforce the healthcare law as written. “I think that’s the only choice we have, and that’s not just on ObamaCare, that’s on a host of different things,” Franks told The Hill. “He simply embodies a breathtaking arrogance that ignores the law he’s sworn to
Sunny, the Obama’s new puppy, knocked down a two-year-old girl Wednesday who was visiting the White House for the unveiling of the holiday decorations. Sunny and Bo were brought into the State Dining Room to visit children who were taking part in holiday crafts. The year-old puppy tried to escape her handler, knocking down 2-year-old Ashtyn Gardner in the process. The little girl got up quickly and her dad John said she was fine. Michelle Obama was present and helped Ashytn to her feet. The First Lady later checked on the little girl again. Obama was unveiling the 2013 holiday decorations and had invited
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) on Tuesday reintroduced legislation that would require the government to study the most practical ways of taxing drivers based on how far they drive, in order to help fund federal highway programs. Blumenauer´s bill, H.R. 3638, would set up a Road Usage Fee Pilot Program, which he said would study mileage-based fee systems. He cast his bill as a long-term solution for funding highway programs, and proposed it along with a shorter-term plan to nearly double the gas tax, from 18.4 cents to 33.4 cents per gallon. "As we extend the gas tax, we must also think about
Neil Cavuto took on Democratic Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR) over a new push to nearly double the federal gas tax to $0.33 a gallon. In the contentious Your World interview, Rep. Blumenauer argued that because the gas tax hasn’t increased in 20 years, the government faces an “inability to fund any transit funding next year.” Cavuto fired back, “You’re talking about doubling the gas tax and acting like it’s no big deal!” Turning to transportation revenue, the Fox News host said, “We do have a lot of other means by which we raise money to help our infrastructure, and our infrastructure still
The nation’s view of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, colored by the horrific Benghazi assassination of the U.S. ambassador to Libya on her watch, has suddenly turned upside down, with more now holding an unfavorable opinion of the likely 2016 presidential candidate. A new YouGov/Economist poll found Clinton, whose approval ratings have typically been sky high, with an unfavorable rating of 48 percent, more than the 46 percent who have a favorable opinion of her. The YouGov pollsters said that the change in American attitudes toward Clinton "suggests that negative press surrounding the tragic
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Bill Clinton, the cliché goes, was the first black president, no matter his skin color. That being the case, Barack Obama is not the first black president, or the first African-American president, if you prefer, but the first hippie president. Clinton’s southern background and lifestyle were indeed more typically black, just as Obama’s was more typically hippie. And we’re not just talking about the “Choom gang” here, scarfing “Maui Wowie” on the sands of Oahu. We’re talking about all of it, the whole multi-culti-missing-white-mother-vanished-Kenyan-father-anti-imperialist-America-is-always-the-enemy-and-don’t-you-forget-it-nine-yards. And like most hippie culture as I knew and experienced it, it wasn’t about “peace and love.” Not
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
