| Twenty minutes into his State of the Union address last week, President Obama entered the realm of uber-geekery — three-dimensional printing. The magical devices capable of printing prosthetics, violins and even aircraft parts have the potential, the president said, “to revolutionize the way we make almost everything.” Forty miles away from the Capitol, in Glen Burnie, Md., Travis Lerol is proving Obama’s point — with guns. In a spare bedroom, where an AR-15 rifle leans against the wall, Lerol is using a 3-D printer no larger than an espresso machine to make plastic rifle parts

Oh the horrors of choice. With this technology, it introduces choice. And choice is the worst thing that can happen when an all powerful socialist state is trying to eliminate choice. People would have the choice to manufacture (or print) items that otherwise would be regulated or banned. And that would create supply of products in a market with huge demand. And probably avoid taxes in the process. Oh the horrors of high informed voters creating banned products because they have the choice to do so.

You will still need a machined barrel. But, within 5 years you will see a law against certain types of unlicensed 3D printers.
Also, print logs will need to be sent to the government for inspection.

Like sugar, fire and corn tested prohibition? If the 2nd amendment is up for grabs, how about reviewing that 1st one? Michael and his friends really ought to have a permit to write something as messed up as this. As always the problem is who gets to make up the new rules. That´s why we had checks, balances and some things that were simply the law. Now it´s all very fluid, according to elitists. In the meantime I double dog dare Michael to shoot a gun made with a 3-D printer. Not a real gun with a low stress plastic part, but a 3-D printed gun.

High-Grade Polymer VS plastics ?
Polymer is the technical name for plastic.
The ´printed´ magazine and lower receiver melts at 80c and won´t hold up to common gun cleaning solvents.
Nobody had been able to print a lower receiver that will stand more than a few rounds because the ´high grade polymer´ available for this technology are just not strong or durable enough.
This whole thing is just as much an overlyloud nonsense from the gun grabbers as Y2K and 2012 end of the world at this point.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
