Just continuing the process which started with Mendel in the 1860s. One reason the Greens are effective in their fear mongering is that uneducated simpletons love to pretend they know more than actual scientists.

It stopped the use of DDT against malarial mosquitoes, resulting in the deaths of millions of African children over the decades.
It seems that millions of dead children are a small price to pay for the self-satisfaction of liberals.

#2: the deaths of millions of third world citizens are a feature, not a bug of the leftist plan. Golden Rice can save lives, which means more people, which is the opposite of what the leftists want. All this death is their version of population control. They will obstruct all means of saving lives in these countries.

Remember that when they whine about AIDs in Africa. Every one of their programs was ineffective at best. George W Bush implements a multi-pronged approach that shows success and they throw as many monkey wrenches into it as they can.

Mass death is the goal.

Maybe golden rice is ok, but a lot of GM foods are wreaking havoc in many ways most of us are not aware. There is a huge movement to control the food supply for one thing and for another, a lot of GM foods are screwing with biodiversity as well as hurting a lot of poor farmers in third world countries. It is disingenuous to claim that everyone concerned about GM food is a "greenie" or eco-luddite. As I said, some GM is good and safe, but not all. Follow the money and the kickbacks. That said, is there no other way to get vitamin A to those children other than through the rice? Seems silly that they try to cover all nutrition needs with one commodity. What next? Soylent green?

In a word, Monsanto. They control the GMO stuff, and if bees carry the pollen of their plants to another farmer´s field, they sue said farmer for "trademark infringement."

It´s also killing diversity, variety, and other things thru-out vast areas of Mexico, the mid-West, etc.

Golden Rice sounds great. But the GMO stuff going on here and in Europe is flat out ridiculous!

I do not want to ingest GMO foods.
I do not want to be forced to ingest GMO foods.
I do not want to force others to ingest GMO foods.

The difference between the Left and the Right. The Left will use force, the Right believes you should have a choice.

Many of the objections to GM food are straw men, concocted for non-substantive reasons.

We eat GM foods every day...

That corn cob was but a nubin back in the old days then man came along and cross breed with a banana or something to make it longer...

Where does the 8 million deaths number come from? Is it like all the supposed deaths from second-hand smoke?

I am a beekeeper, and we are especially concerned with the effect of GMO´s. You can´t be a beekeeper without being aware or concerned. I happen to have many conservative friends who are equally concerned that the food supply is becoming increasingly controlled by so few. We are not far from being without any choice. This is not a leftist issue. We all need to protect our freedoms, and GMO´s and their effects are not fully understood. Take some time to learn about what a huge issue this is.

For those claiming increased yield in GMO food as one benefit -- this puts that claim to the lie.

I will never support GMO food. It is not science. It is more along the lines of fantasy.
