Gas prices approaching $4 per
gallon, up 60 cents from a month ago

Gasoline prices across the state are again approaching the loathed $4-per-gallon mark. AAA Michigan said the average statewide price of regular, unleaded fuel has risen 16 cents during the past week to $3.91 a gallon. That is 60 cents higher than a month ago and nearly 50 cents more than a year ago, according to the auto club’s Daily Fuel Gauge report. Prices are averaging $3.88 a gallon in the metro Detroit area. Pricier fuel can be found in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Jackson. The national average is $3.73 a gallon for regular unleaded.

Comments:
And it´s only February. Imagine the price by the time summer rolls around.

When GWB was president, every time the price of gas went up, he was excoriated by the MSM. Now, King Barack gets a pass.

Dang that Bush!!! Still manipulating and controlling gas prices even after 4 years out of office!!

And let´s not even START on the pitiful performance of FEMA after hurricane Sandy!

It is $4 here. Someone keeps siphoning my gas out of my car too. Its been happening for months. I thought we kept running out because I´d only put $10 - $15 at a time in. But everyday?? No, somebody has been taking it. I keep telling my roommate we need to lock it every night!

#3- You might buy a locking gas cap.

Here is SO.CA. it´s been over $4.00 for weeks. $4.15 give or take a few cents.

Perhaps Obama wants us to impress our friends and neighbors by having us announce that "I just paid $8.50 per gallon for regular. And I got to pump it myself. It´s just like being on a driving vacation in Europe, but without the expensive airfare and silly French language.

Or, he wants to see hundreds of thousands of micro cars scurrying about as he criss crosses the country in AF1. Would make him so proud to see his subjects driving 2 seat cars they never wanted in the first place.

Presidents can´t avoid criticism when gas prices start to take off.

That´s why Obama made a habit of raiding our Strategic Oil Reserve every time gas prices rose too much during his first term in order to flood the market and bring the prices back down.

But now that he´s been safely re-elected, Obama probably doesn´t care at all about gas prices, so who knows what will happen.

Obama´s name does not appear anywhere in this article. . . . .

It is time for a serious investigation of the mainstream media, especially JC Reindl of the Detroit Free Press.

The AP Style manual CLEARLY states that "increasing gas prices are NOT newsworthy during a Democrat administration or if Democrat party policies result in such increases. Increasing gasoline prices are only newsworthy when they can be blamed on Republican presidents or congress."

Obama is responsible. No Keystone pipeline, no fracking, no revolution in energy production. CLEARLY Obama´s fault.

When we bought our first car, gasoline was 25 cents a gallon, and if you filled up you got triple Blue Chip Stamps.

I´m so glad I now live where I don´t need a car.

The ultimate goal is to eliminate private automobiles. Everyone must live in a ´sustainable´ community where public transportation will take you everywhere someone else wants you to go.

Whatever happened to that ´loathed´ $3 a gallon mark, ant the ´loathed´ $2 a gallon mark less than a score of years ago?

Frog meet pot, pot meet burner.

On a related note, according to the BLS..

"On a seasonally adjusted basis, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers was unchanged in December after decreasing 0.3 percent in November."

Hows that Friskies these days tasting Sr Citizens? Oh that´s right, the cost of Friskies has increased 60% over the last 12 months also....

Oh, forgot to add just purchased a 20 round box on 9mm/.125 grain hollow out of a handful left in on the shelves at Gander Mtn for $48. No .32 and no more than a dozen boxes of any other caliber. No target rounds of any caliber....

Last August paid $18 plus tax for same box.

THIS scared the crap out of me.....

The day Obama moved into the White House, the average price of gasoline in the US was $1.86 per gallon.

Gasoline more than doubled since Obama took office; so has home heating oil, which is like diesel. Friday, heating oil was $4.55/gallon.

Since many homes in the northeast get heat and hot water with oil, a delivery is about $800. And it´s been really cold lately. It´s common to use 1,000 or more gallons a year.

Not to mention the cost added to all our products by the high cost of delivery with diesel trucks.

That´s why, here in CT, gas has hovered around $4.39 a gallon for two years and my idiot neighbors voted for him, again.
The press is the most evil force this nation has faced in decades.

A barrel of oil is still universally bought with U.S. dollars. Since the dollar is only worth about 40 cents now, you know what the problem is.

LOS ANGELES -- flocking to Southern California beaches are used to feeding the meter or paying a parking attendant. Not so along the less developed north coast where it´s customary to ditch cars on the shoulder of Highway 1 to surf, swim or picnic. That sandy line that long defined the state´s disparate beach culture may soon fade. In search of new revenue, the state parks system is eyeing parking fees for parts of the Northern California shoreline where none existed or considering hiking rates to visit popular beaches south of Los Angeles during peak periods.

CAIRO — The pale, young Christian woman sat handcuffed in the courtroom, accused of insulting Islam while teaching history of religions to fourth-graders. A team of Islamist lawyers with long beards sang in unison, "All except the Prophet Muhammad." The trend is widely seen as a reflection of the growing power and confidence of Islamists, particularly the ultraconservative Salafis. "Salafis are the engineers of these stories,"

Palm Beach, Fla. - On a Monday morning in March, small business owner Mike Ruffer told a group at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C, how his eight Five Guys Burgers and Fries franchise restaurants in North Carolina were faring under the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare. Five hours later, the backlash was so intense he had to wonder if that 15-minute speech might kill his company. In fact, Mr. Ruffer is the most recent victim in a troubling pattern of seemingly orchestrated campaigns to silence small business owners who speak out about President Obama’s agenda.

WASHINGTON - The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits climbed last week at the fastest pace in six months, a worrisome sign for the economy which has been hit by government austerity. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits jumped by 32,000 to a seasonally adjusted 360,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday. That was the biggest jump since November and confounded analysts´ expectations for a more modest increase. Claims for the prior week were revised to show 5,000 more applications received than previously reported. A Labor Department analyst said no states had estimated their data

WASHINGTON — Faced with a trio of controversies, President Barack Obama is trying to halt a perception spreading among both White House opponents and allies that he has been passive and disengaged as unexpected developments consume his second term. The new strategy, underscored in a flurry of new White House actions, signals an Obama team anxious to regain control amid controversies that have emboldened Republicans and threatened to plunge the president´s second term into a steady stream of congressional investigations. On Wednesday, Obama released a trove of documents related to the Benghazi attacks amid revived pressure from Republicans.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
