Jerusalem—Israel will award President Barack Obama the country’s Presidential Medal of Distinction during his upcoming visit. Israeli President Shimon Peres’ office said Monday that Obama will be recognized for his ‘‘unique and significant contribution to strengthening the State of Israel and the security of its citizens.’’ Obama is scheduled to visit Israel in March — his first as president. Obama has often had a tense relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Jewish state’s West Bank settlement policies and the lack of peace process with the Palestinians. But Peres and the committee behind the award noted Obama’s overall

This is like the Nobel Peace Prize given to Obama prior to his doing squat. Israel is giving him this aware in hopes that he will see which side are the good guys. Look, Israel is the victim, and needs to use every opportunity to gain support. So, they swallow their pride and attempt to bribe Obama with a meaninless award. God bless them, because Israel needs every blessing they can get.

#9 I agree with #12. Thank God people can still have a sense of humor.

Like #12, I feel sick these days. Somewhat off topic but also relevant if you will endulge me. For years I did nothing but buy and read books about WWII German Theater. One of those books was entitled The Case Against Adolph Eichmann

A visitor to my house looked at the bookcase and wanted to know who the Nazi was in the house. A lot of the hardback books had a twisted cross on the jackets. Those books were Winds of War, War and Remembrance, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, Inside the Third Reich, The Life and Death of Adolf Hitler, and many more - none of which glorify Hitler.

The visitor evidently didn´t see the books on Eisenhower, Truman, Raol Wallenberg, Einstein, Eric Bonhoeffer, Churchill, and other great men of WWII era.
After I looked at my books, I decided to take the jackets off my books so that my books wouldn´t give subsequent visitors the wrong impression.

All my reading has given me enough information to feel very, very concerned about the future of our country. Personally, I think Senator Joe McCarthy got a bad rap back in the 1950´s - he may have been more correct than we or even he knew.

Obviously, my bookcase has nothing to do with the article except why I feel that giving Obama an Israeli prestigious medal is like giving Hitler an award for insisting all Jewish-owned stores have a star of David on them so that Kristallnacht will be successful.

I suspect this has something to do with the Iron Dome anti-missile project developed jointly between US and Israel that is currently protecting Israelis from missiles fired from Gaza. Obama gave it strong support under the radar.....there´s a lot that goes on in international diplomacy that we have no clue about. I expect the Israelis know what they are doing.

Not only that, but they´re minting a one-off for Stinky, made of zinc! Usually struck in gold, that was just too-commonplace. Even a bunch of Olympic competitors get gold medals.

Ever-thorough, the Israelis checked with our USDA and FDA, only to find that their first-choice material of... "organic matter" would not be admitted to the US on Barry´s return.

Seriously, I´m on the floor here over this! It´s great.

Doesn´t anyone else see the backhand in this "award"?

See #25. Who has studied human nature longer or more closely than the Jewish people, rabbis in particular? Have you folks never read any of their writing, even contemporary articles? They get it. Except for their decorum, I´d half-expect the ceremony to close with the audience rising as one, turning their backs to him, and bending over as they all drop their pants. [I´d take the pay-per-view on that, for sure.]

A box of fresh cow pies would sure send Da Zippster a message; maybe a box of ´Alley Apples´ to take back for the Press Corpse on AF-1 might be a nice gift.

Hopefully, that medal they are giving him is a boat anchor, to hang around his neck.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I´ve gotta tell, another little thing about Nelson Mandela. Do you realize in a couple of ways, maybe even more than a couple, Nelson Mandela has more in common or had more in common with Clarence Thomas than he does with Barack Obama? For example, Nelson Mandela (even prior to becoming president, but certainly after he became president of South Africa) insisted on compliance with his country´s constitution. He insisted on it. Obama looks at the US Constitution as an obstacle and makes end runs around it every day, practically. In that sense... These are the kind of

We had fun with Mandela when he was in New York, when he came to New York and went to Yankees Stadium. The U.S. federal health insurance website HealthCare.gov, which has had technology problems since its October 1 launch, is now experiencing errors in transmitting applications about 10 percent of the time, a government spokeswoman said on Friday. The online insurance marketplace relays information about new customers in ´834´ transaction forms to the private insurance companies that provide the health plans. HealthCare.gov serves people in 36 states, while 14 states are running their own websites. "We believe nine of 10 transactions are being successfully transmitted," the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, spokeswoman Julie Bataille said at a news briefing.

Washington — Thad Cochran, a Mississippi Republican who was first elected to the Senate in 1978, set up a generational and ideological clash in the state’s Republican primary when he announced Friday that he would seek a seventh term in 2014. While Mr. Cochran, who turns 76 on Saturday, has the support of many leading Republicans in the state, he is already facing opposition from Chris McDaniel, 41, a state senator aligned with the Tea Party who announced his candidacy in October and has won the support of some conservative groups. That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats.
