| The US Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden has been hung out to dry by military chiefs, veteran charities say. The veteran, identified only as The Shooter in a US magazine interview, is now broke, jobless and in failing health since leaving the crack outfit. He claims his health care benefits were cut off the moment he left the crack Seal Team Six last year. Now veterans charities have pledged to do all they can to support him. Unlike other former military personnel who find security work, he never wants to handle a gun professionally again because of

Actually, this is typical of how our Veterans are treated. Sounds to me like his injuries are service-connected, and he should be filing claims for disability. I can´t believe this information was not provided to him. File today and get on the list, and with luck, in 5 or 6 years the VA will get around to your case, deny it out of hand, so that you can then file appeals and after another 2 years, get an answer from the VA. The clock starts ticking when a claim is filed, so 5 - 6 years later if you are lucky enough to be granted disability, the back pay is from the initial date of filing. Good luck and God bless.

Somehow this just won´t pass the smell test with me. You DO NOT "retire" from the US Military with 16 years in unless it is medical in nature. If it was medical, there is a pension and probably Tricare for his family health care. If he got out after 16 years he did so knowing full well there was NOTHING owed him or due him unless he had some unused leave to sell back. So, I´ll wait for his book to be published......

20 years is the rule and has been forever and he knows that, everybody in the military does. You can´t get out before then and cry foul that they aren´t giving you your pension and benefits.

Did I miss something? Nowhere did I see anything about the shooter "retiring" onther than here. He left the military after 16 years, he didn´t say he retired although it sure sounds like he qualified for a medical retirement......With Benefits.

No military man with sixteen years of distinguished and honorable service would leave the military for no reason. This man had serious medical issues worthy of a medical retirement/dicharge. Furthermore, if his identity was revealed, he and his family would be in grave danger.
One has to wonder if this man was offered a "medical retirement" and then left the military to learn that what he was offered was not true.
The Obama administration does not treat our military well. Recall how General McChrystal was treated, and others who are rumored to have been relieved of command upon refusing to give orders to fire on American citizens, or relieved of command when they objected to not helping those who needed help in Benghazi.

Just another attempt to destroy Seals since Obie killed laden? If so maybe they need to form a new and silent band of brothers which of course scares the Won´s minions and their boss into diapers.

This story looks bogus to me. This USN SEAL, whoever he is, is entitled to the same VA benefits as any other service member who would allow his enlistment to lapse after 16 years of service. Everybody in the US Armed Forces knows that it takes 20 years on active duty to qualify for a permanent pension. Anyway it looks like this guy could claim all sorts of service connected disabilities to get a medical discharge and the many benefits that derive therefrom.

FTA:
A spokesman for Veterans Association of America, which provides medical care for ex-military personnel, said: “We believe he was misinformed about the benefits that might be available to him and are looking into his case.
“ Like every combat veteran, he should be eligible for up to five years of free health care through the Department of Veterans Affairs. He should have been told this but he wasn’t. This man would have received a medal and become a household name under other circumstances.

Less than 20 years, no retirement unless it is a medical discharge. Period. And any 16 year veteran knows this, let alone a veteran of SOF forces. This whole thing does not pass the smell test to any that have been active duty, National Guard or Reserve in any branch of service.
I suspect that he had some personal problems w/r to his assignment or command and just bailed with minimum of normal out-processing. The rest would follow from that.
Note: At discharge the veteran is instructed to contact his local VA for evaluation (post discharge exam). The 5 year thing is relatively new (since 2001?).

It might seem like the androgynous fashion trend taken too far, but a Chinese company’s new ‘hairy leg’ hosiery hopes to help women ward off unwanted male attention. A photograph posted to the Shanghai-based website ChinaSMACK shows a model from the waist down wearing the on-trend stockings. A caption below touts them as the perfect ´summertime anti-pervert´ device and ´essential for young girls going out’. It does not state where shoppers can find the garment and internet searches prove fruitless. The image of the tights has triggered hundreds of responses from amused and horrified viewers. ‘Damn, so disgusting!’ commented one.

The US will engage in its first formal direct talks with the Taliban on Thursday, according to officials, in a milestone on the road to peace after more than a decade of war. The first meeting will take place in Doha, the Qatari capital, after the Taliban opened their first official overseas office and Washington dropped its long-standing demand that the movement renounce ties with al-Qaeda. "The US will have its first formal meeting with the Taliban, and indeed first meeting with the Taliban for several years, in a couple of days in Doha," a senior official with

LE BOURGET, France—Boeing Co. won major orders from five customers for a stretched-out version of its popular 787 Dreamliner jet at the Paris Air Show Tuesday, further evidence of a strengthening market for more expensive long-haul jets. Boeing announced the formal launch of its 787-10 program at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday and says it already has commitments for 102 jets from five customers: Air Lease Corp., Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, International Airlines Group and GE Capital Aviation Services. The new 787-10 lists at $290 million, making the deal worth nearly $30 billion at full price, although customers often

Nato has handed over security for the whole of Afghanistan for the first time since the Taliban were ousted in 2001. At a ceremony in Kabul, President Hamid Karzai said that from Wednesday "our own security and military forces will lead all the security activities". Observers say the best soldiers in the Afghan army are up to the task but there are lingering doubts about some. International troops will remain in Afghanistan until the end of 2014, providing military back-up when needed. The ceremony came shortly after a suicide bomb attack in western Kabul killed three employees of the Afghanistan

Undercover video shot in May by a conservative activist shows two corporate distributors of free cell phones handing out the mobile devices to people who have promised to sell them for drug money, to buy shoes and handbags, to pay off their bills, or just for extra spending cash. The ´Obama phone,´ which made its ignominious YouTube debut outside a Cleveland, Ohio presidential campaign event last September, is a project of the Federal Communications Commission´s ´Lifeline´ program, which makes land line and mobile phones available to Americans who meet low-income requirements. Lifeline was a $2.19 billion program in 2012.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Is Marco Rubio, R-Fla., getting played by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.? During his interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl this morning, Rubio didn’t even seem to understand what that meant. “Are you being played by the Democrats?” asked Karl. “Is Chuck Schumer playing you?” “I don’t — I quite frankly, I don’t even know what that means,” Rubio replied. “Is he using you?” Karl continued. “Is he using you to try to accomplish something that the Democrats want and is not — not a conservative bill?” Rubio responded that immigration reform was a bi-partisan issue that “all Americans

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
