| DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Danica Patrick has a fast car at Daytona International Speedway -- and she just may have the fastest. Patrick notched a lap of 196.220 mph in the first official Sprint Cup Series practice of the season on Saturday. She posted the speed in the day´s second session, focused on Sunday´s qualifying for the Daytona 500. (Snip)Teammate and team owner Tony Stewart was second quickest, posting a lap of 195.363 mph. Kyle Busch was third, Dale Earnhardt Jr. fourth and Jamie McMurray fifth.

This is of more interest than the continuing effort to make her interesting by highlighting her "personal" life.
If you want to see Championship female drivers, head on over to the NHRA. A few fortunes have been spent attemtping to iconize Patrick. One is reminded of the old saw about "an infinite number of monkeys and an infinite number of typewriters."

#3 nailed it. Ms. Patrick seems like she belongs in the middle ranks of the drivers she races. I don´t wish her ill but if she was less photogenic there´d be no attention paid to her because her record wouldn´t command attention.

She does fine as long as she´s the only car on the track. Put her between 3 or 4 competitors and "on come the brakes get me out of here herbie!" Usually that´s when she hits someone or gets tipped from behind. She sucks in traffic. I can´t believe she still has a seat.

One could almost think that the ‘lowbrow’ posters here were throwing javelins at Gov Palin instead of Ms Patrick! I read much of the same crap today as I read 4+ years ago.
Why is it these small minds must spew their venom when it comes to an attractive and articulate woman competing in a man’s world?
It seems that those posters with female IDs are the most strident and petty. Is it because they are frumpy and stupid and Gov Palin and Danica are not?
For the non-female negative posters, maybe it´s because their ‘squeeze’ is frumpy and stupid and Gov Palin and Danica aren’t.

NASCAR has come along way since those days of old in the 1950s when the race was run on the beach and a stretch of Highway A1A...Some of the biggest stars in those bygone years were drivers who got their start in racing hauling moonshine and outrunning the law in the mountains of North Georgia and the Western Carolinas. Anybody else out there in Lucianne.Com Land remember the great "Junior" Johnson and "Reckless" Roy Hall?

A Central Florida man who was shot and killed by an FBI agent early Wednesday morning was being investigated by the FBI and Massachusetts authorities in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. The FBI told the Orlando Sentinel that during the early morning hours Wednesday, an FBI agent — along with two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel — were interviewing 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by Todashev.

The charity in question was ProPublica itself. We should acknowledge that "left-leaning" is our characterization; ProPublica describes itself in its own tax filings as "entirely non-partisan and non-ideological." If it is proven that the IRS thwarted some groups from obtaining tax-exempt status in fear that their traditional or conservative messages might hurt the 2012 Obama campaign (especially if it did so under pressure from White House-affiliated operatives), and if it is proven that the Obama administration deliberately ignored warnings about lax security at the Benghazi consulate, missed real opportunities to send help, or deliberately massaged intelligence reports in order to mislead the pre-election public about the true nature of Benghazi in order to further a false campaign narrative of a near dormant al-Qaeda

We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.
