Comments: The headline is certainly accurate. It is an absolute outrage what this regime is doing to intentionally bankrupt us. And no one seems to care but us.

My tax dollars are paying for this. How can I refuse to contribute to the madness that is collapsing my country? Why do taxpayers not get a say in how their taxes are spent? My hard working taxpaying vote is being outstripped by the poor pitiful gimme goodies votes.

I do not understand this. In Texas, the program sends a letter every 6 months to every person who has such a phone. You must respond within 30 days with proof of your continuing eligibility. On the form, you tell the state program which phone service you are using. Thus, you can´t turn around and go get phones from competing services.
These seem like common-sense program safeguards. Why don´t other states use them?

Just found out that Time Warner Cable has attached a large tax on our cable bill to cover Obamacare! Bet the freebie phones are coming out of this, too. I´m so ticked off, I can´t finish reading the article.

Just replace a cell phone last week. The taxes for the phone totaled $190, $20 more than the cost of the phone.

It´s not that easy and free in CA. Decide to get a "free" phone for my 89yr. old Mother. Had to send in proof of income and that she did not have Lifeline for her ;and line. Than when phone finally arrived the charger was damaged, had to wait weeks for that, than it still wouldn´t charge. Was sent a new battery, still didn´t work. Than had to get another phone which was an upgrade and had to pay for. Also she does pay $2.50 a month for 250 hours which is a lot of hours. It took three months to get her a working phone no credit was given for any payments or purchase of original phone. I figure why not as long as I am being charged for it anyway.

Rather than getting steamed about the costs of the program, think a moment about what the regime accomplishes with a lot of free phones out there in the hands of the faithfull. How easy will it be to organize a flash mob against any store or home? How easy will it be to call up an army of people to clog a street or voting precinct?

#7. If you love your mom, get her a Jitterbug. Yes, you´ll pay $89 for the phone and $15/month for basic (50 minutes) service, but the phone will work.

We now know that the Justice Department kept exceptionally close tabs on Fox News reporter James Rosen in 2010, following his trips in and out of the State Department, hacking his personal emails and phone calls. Normal newsgathering activities are being treated as criminal activities by the White House. But consider what the same White House had to say about Fox News back in 2009. You might remember the concerted effort by White House officials to brand the right-leaning Fox News as a bogus news outlet, unworthy of attention.

Huma Abedin, former Secretary of State Hillary’s Clinton’s long time aide with extensive ties to Muslim Brotherhood groups, was granted an arrangement by the State Department to do outside consulting work, even as she remained a top advisor in the Department. Abedin did not disclose either the arrangement, or how much she earned from it, on her financial report, despite a requirement that public officials must disclose significant sources of income. Clinton advisor Philippe Reines contended she was under no obligation to do so. Abedin, who has served Clinton for 15 years, became a “special government employee”

A federal judge in Washington ruled in 2010 that the Justice Department was not required by law to notify Fox reporter James Rosen that prosecutors had obtained his emails in connection with an investigation into a leak about North Korean plans to test a nuclear weapon. In September 2010, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth overruled the conclusion of federal magistrate John Facciola that Rosen—whose Gmail account was searched—was entitled by law to be informed. Prosecutors contended that under the statute used to get Rosen´s emails, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, they were not

The Department of Justice released a statement moments ago amid reports of the department obtaining a subpoena in order to access Fox News reporter James Rosen´s personal emails. "Leaks of classified information to the press can pose a serious risk of harm to our national security and it is important that we pursue these matters using appropriate law enforcement tools. Such investigations and prosecutions, including this particular case, follow all applicable laws, regulations, and longstanding Department of Justice policies intended to safeguard the First Amendment interests of the press in reporting the news and the public in receiving it."

Michelle Malkin joined Megyn Kelly on Fox News Monday afternoon to discuss the latest developments in the investigation into the IRS targeting conservatives for audits. Malkin insisted it was not merely her “ideology” that has led to critique the Obama administration on their handling of the IRS issue and others, but rather the evidence she’s seen of their “bully brigade tactics” to “intimidate and criminalize their political opponents.” Malkin began by going after White House Press Secretary Jay Carney for his handling of the various Obama “scandals,” saying the “clown Carney press briefings have turned in

The Justice Department, already under fire for seizing AP phone records, also viewed e-mails of Fox News chief Washington correspondent James Rosen, calling him a criminal ´co-conspirator´ for his reporting. Fox News´ executive vice president of news, Michael Clemente, released a statement defending Rosen. The statement issued Monday afternoon is below: "We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter," Clemente said. "In fact, it is downright chilling. We will unequivocally

Michael Steinbach, former head of the FBI’s counterterrorism division and now special agent in charge of Miami, told over 30 congressional staffers in March of 2012 that, contrary to the White House´s classification, the bureau does not refer to the Fort Hood shooting as "workplace violence." As head of the FBI counterterrorism division, Steinbach oversaw the investigation into the mass murder at Texas Army base. Steinbach made this claim during an unclassified counterterrorism briefing on Capitol Hill. “Do you guys teach your agents that Fort Hood was workplace violence?” one staffer asked.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

WASHINGTON – White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday Republicans owe Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an apology for alleging she played a part in formulating the White House’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed four Americans. Pfeiffer said on ABC’s “This Week” that the release of more than 100 pages of Benghazi emails and notes show “beyond a shadow of the doubt” that accusations she tried to change the narrative of what happened in the attacks was false. "And, frankly, I think that many of the Republicans
