| An elementary school principal in the Denver suburbs told parents that white children would be excluded from an after-school tutoring initiative. Andre C. Pearson, the principal at Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora, Colorado sent letters home to parents informing them that only students of color are eligible for the program, KJCT, the local ABC affiliate, reports. Some shocked parents have alleged discrimination and segregation, reports CBS “I was infuriated,” one parent, Nicole Cox, told CBS Denver. “I didn’t understand why they would include or exclude certain groups.”

There needs to be a huge lawsuit against the school and especially against those responsible for this racist decision, they should never work in education again.

According to their website, the principal reversed herself on the policy. Regardless, a white principal who did the same would still be sued out of the profession.

This is a logical result of the No Child Left Behind Act which divides student populations into groups by sex, ethnic origin and disability for analysis of testing. When a school is deemed a failure because the minority males are testing poorly, the school is expected to establish programs to remediate them.

Misleading headline. Should be "bans white kids from being tutored". Could easily be read as "white kids not allowed to tutor". Perhaps headline writer should be tutored.

I had posted, yesterday, about a PBS conference held about 20 years ago. The conference was about Sesame Street and its effectiveness in getting little chillun ready for kindergarten. The results of studies showed that chillun of all races were better prepared for kindegarten, after watching sesame street. And the conference participants actually discussed strategies which would stop white chillun from watching the show, so that minority chillun could gain on whites. After seeing the silliness of that, the conference gave up on it as unworkable. This colorado case is no different.

"... A spokeswoman for the school district told KJCT that Pearson’s letter was a mistake..."
It sure was a mistake but it was also exactly what the principal meant. Is he black? Has anyone else noticed the overt racism started since obama took office? Obama was supposed to heal racist divides and the opposite has happened.

That will take you to the front page of the school´s website where you can read the letter from the principal. The money quote about the tutor program is from the first paragraph "The PASS committee is focused on partnering with the principal to close the racial achievement gap."
Now how can you expect to close the racial achievement gap if you let whites keep learning? s/o

Simple solution. White parents just transfer their children to another school, maybe another district. That outcome would hit the school where it really hurts ---- in the pocketbook.

The problem is that if the idea is to close the racial educational achievement gap, then excluding white kids from tutoring programs would be a no-brainer. After all, to get the numbers to come out better, more ignorant white kids need to stay that way, while some ignorant black kids are elevated into a brighter category. What good is a tutoring program if it will help kids of all races and will have a racially proportionate impact . . . that is, if the goal is to close the racial achievement gap? Seems to me the principle is guilty of temporarily exercising logic, probably dangerously close to a firing offense.

So they´ve reversed a policy that never should have been put in place in the first place. End result? When the white kids show up for tutoring they´ll be ignored and all the help will go to minority students. Same effect.

LBJ´s War on Poverty was really a war against the Whites...this trillions of dollars experiment that continues today was meant to GIVE the blacks a ´helping push´ towards so called equality. Dumb down the subjects, lower the test scores, allow more blacks into programs they didn´t qualify for to ´make it more fair´ at the expense of the qualified student of whatever color who was denied entry because there was no more room...give away housing money, grocery money, paying for electric, water, gas bills, send welfare checks, pay for medical, subsidize their not working with ´unemployment´ checks. The list of benefits that the left wants to be classified as entitlements and ´constitutional´ rights are the cry of the Democrats and black caucus politicians. As our black president says...´to make it more fair´...make the ´rich´, which means those that work, give to the won´t work class...and the beat goes on... This too shall pass.

When a devastating tornado touched down in Moore, Okla., on Monday afternoon, Shayla Taylor was on the upper floor of the local hospital, in active labor with her second child. As the floor shook “like an earthquake” beneath her and ceiling tiles and insulation fell overhead, the 25-year-old huddled with four nurses, braving both the peak contractions of childbirth and the wrath of the worst twister the veteran Oklahoman had ever endured. “We were all just sitting there holding each other’s hands and praying,” Taylor told NBC News.

Hundreds of Phoenix police officers converged on a Valley school Wednesday morning in a show of support for one of their own. The daughter of Officer Daryl Raetz, who was killed in the line of duty over the weekend, graduated from kindergarten today. Because her father couldn´t be there, her Phoenix Police Department family showed up to stand in his stead and celebrate Tatum. "She had 300, 400 parents up here for her this morning," Officer James Holmes said. "It was absolutely amazing. It was bittersweet and it was a bit overwhelming for all of us."

We regret to announce that Larry Conners is no longer a KMOV news reporter. Larry was a valued member of KMOV for a long time, and we will miss him. For KMOV, there is no higher cause than unbiased, objective news reporting. It is what our viewers expect and it is what we work very hard to deliver. We can accept no less. Larry is certainly entitled to his opinion, but taking a personal political position on one of the Station’s Facebook pages creates an appearance of bias that is inconsistent with important journalistic standards. Larry’s departure has nothing to do with the particular position

Lawmakers pressing for more heads to roll at the Internal Revenue Service are going to be disappointed. “Why weren’t more people fired?” Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) demanded at a hearing Tuesday on the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, channeling the frustration of his colleagues. Turns out it’s not so easy.In fact, it appears that no one has been formally reprimanded and a spokesperson for the union representing IRS workers said it hasn’t been called to help any employees yet. Most employees involved in the targeting program are covered by protections for federal workers

The Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol has some advice for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on the Senate’s immigration reform bill: Walk away. “He should walk away from it,” Kristol said Tuesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.” “He should say, I made a good faith effort, but you know what, this is not a piece of legislation.”The Weekly Standard editor told Ingraham that Rubio — who Kristol said he considers “a friend” — should step away from the “big government bill.” Instead, immigration reform should be dealt with issue-by-issue rather than by one comprehensive piece of “bad legislation,”

Sen. When Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) actually offered an amendment that would close the loophole during Tuesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee markup of the bill, Flake joined Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and all the committee Democrats in opposing the amendment.

The Internal Revenue Service controversy dogging President Barack Obama is hardly the first time a White House and the tax agency have been accused of political meddling and bias. Over the past week, Republicans have been trying to link Obama to what the IRS has acknowledged was improper extra scrutiny of conservative political groups seeking tax-exempt status. That’s despite the fact that little — if anything — has surfaced to suggest White House officials had advance knowledge of the IRS actions. The line between IRS misconduct and the Oval Office appears less fuzzy in IRS political incidents in previous administrations.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Is the worm turning against Barack Obama? After four-plus years of being given the benefit of the doubt by the bulk of the US media, the President now suddenly feels more vulnerable. Today both the New York Times and the Washington Post have run prominent and angry editorials and columns slamming the administration for its attempt to criminalise a Fox News reporter James Rosen for working a State Department source to obtain a story. The "Rosen Affair"--as it is now known--is poisoning the well in Washington at an alarming rate for Mr Obama, with an indignant White House press corps
