FAA moves closer
to widespread US drone
flights with plan for test sites

Washington - A future in which unmanned drones are as common in U.S. skies as helicopters and airliners has moved a step closer to reality with a government request for proposals to create six drone test sites around the country. The Federal Aviation Administration made the request Thursday, kicking off what is anticipated to be an intense competition between states hoping to win one of the sites. The FAA also posted online a draft plan for protecting people´s privacy from the eyes in the sky. The plan would require each test site to follow federal and state laws

Comments:
"You are being watched. The government has a secret system, a machine that spies on you every hour of every day." I guess we´ll be believing "Person of Interest" from now on. In case you missed this video from another article posted earlier, watch what can be "seen" by off-the-shelf phone cameras connected within one of these drones.

Not to worry. Obama promised that none would be armed.

I guess the Obama government has figured out it would take too long and put storm troopers at risk doing house by house searched for guns.

Obama claims that domestic drones won´t be armed, how many people believe that. The real use for drones should be used to tack down drug and human smugglers but of course they won´t be.

Obama´s playing an inch by inch game to overthrow this government and huge swaths of objectors could be taken out by these things.

Gun owners just don´t represent gun ownership but a pro traditional America mindset the left is out to destroy. They figure they might only have 4 years because there´s no guarantee they can win the next election, especially with a 70 year old Hillary being the candidate.

FoxNews is already being banned by a left wing professor. If that goes unchallenged,it could start a huge trend in the education system.Free speech means agreeing with liberals. They don´t want young minds poisoned by alternative thinking.

How is this gonna work out with thousands of small "recreational" aircraft including gliders? Don´t most of those pilot the craft on visuals? Airways are already pretty crowded. Surprising there aren´t more crashes.

Any pilots our there?

This administration thumbs it´s nose at court orders so why are we expected to believe that this WH will obey the FAA? Is the FAA´s authority higher than a court´s now?

You don´t suppose that these Predators with great endurance, fantastic optics, instant communications and informational capabilities would be used for something useful like monitoring our Southern borders night and day with infrared capabilities and in very real time alert the Border Patrols as to intrusions like ILLEGAL intruders would you??? I would like to think free citizens would shoot these things down. Unfortunately, they will fly at altitudes out of range of small arms.

French Lab Loses SARS Vials

A French lab has lost more than 2,000 vials containing fragments of the deadly SARS virus, which killed nearly 800 people in a 2003 epidemic across four continents. The Pasteur Institute in Paris, France announced this week that it realized it was missing the vials and contacted the country’s National Security Agency of Medicines and Health Products to conduct an investigation on April 8, according to a news release. Although the fragments are not dangerous, they do raise concerns by revealing the lab’s vulnerability, said Dr. William Schaffner, chair of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville,

Oklahoma bans local wage hikes

Cities and counties won’t be allowed to raise the minimum wage under a law signed Monday by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R). Under the new law, which passed the state legislature on party-line votes earlier this year, cities would be prohibited from raising the minimum wage above the $7.25 federal mark, and they would be prevented from requiring employers to provide sick days to their employees. Backers of the new law said differing wages in different cities would be a hardship for businesses. In a statement, Fallin said different wage laws would hurt job creation. In recent years, cities and localities across the country have unilaterally

Rev. Al Sharpton’s Easter message:
Politically ‘crucified’ Obama has risen again
Washington Times, by Jessica Chasmar    Original Article

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

An orange-black ribbon holds
a clue to eastern Ukraine´s chaos
Christian Science Monitor, by Anna Kordunsky    Original Article

As pro-Russia protests spread in eastern Ukraine, a strip of striped orange-and-black fabric has become as ubiquitous as the armed men in unmarked military fatigues. Its name is the Ribbon of Saint George. Imbued with history, it’s a powerful symbol in the ongoing information battle over Ukraine. For Russians it´s a mark of allegiance to the state – both the fearsome, expansionist Russian state of old and its modern successor under President Vladimir Putin. When pro-Russia rallies took place last December, seeking to rival the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev, very few ribbons were seen.

UNICEF’s new campaign, “Poo2Loo,” targets India’s public defecation problem with a series of music videos, pranks and advertisements featuring a giant feces mascot. According to the campaign, 620 million Indians are defecating in public every day. “That’s half the population dumping over 65 million kilos of poo out there every day. If this poo continues to be let loose on us, there will be no escaping the stench of life threatening infections, diseases and epidemics,” the Poo2Loo website says, while asking visitors to sign a pledge to ending public defecation. Former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers has been named head of Warner Bros. corporate communications, replacing longtime studio executive Sue Fleishman. Myers, who served as White House press secretary during President Clinton´s first term, will begin work at Burbank-based Warner Bros. on Sept. 2. Fleishman, who had worked at Warner Bros. for nine years, stepped down from her post this week. She oversaw communications for Warner Bros. during a two-year corporate succession race that ended in January 2013 with the announcement that Kevin Tsujihara would succeed Barry Meyer as chief executive and

Robert Rizzo, the city administrator who oversaw an era of corruption and graft in one of Los Angeles County’s poorest cities, was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in state prison. Rizzo stared straight ahead, his palms pressed against the defense table as the sentence was read. “Mr. Rizzo, you did some very, very bad things for a very long time,” Superior Court Judge Kathleen Kennedy told the former Bell city administrator. The judge said Rizzo transformed himself into a “godfather of sorts” in Bell, an all-powerful ruler who plundered the city’s treasury to pay lavish salaries and dole out loans to fellow employees.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
