Broder, who wrote an unflattering story about his experience in the company’s latest electric car. If you have $100K to waste on this New Age Edsel, then 0bama needs to send the tax man to audit your finances.
One thing that caught my attention in this absurd whining of Musk was that lithium-ion batteries are effected by cold temps. The recent grounding of Boeing’s 787 & Airbus [A350] switching back to regular batteries tells me that there is no "fix" in the foreseeable future. Caveat emptor.

Why would a company like Boeing spend billions of dollars developing the dreamliner and put it´s whole operation under risk with this type of failed battery? What kind of planet rape is being done to mine all this lithium?

While I suspect that the reporter faked up a bunch of things to get controversy, it remains that the Tesla batteries and electric system make it a sporty, expensive toy not meant for much other than tooling around on a sunny, 70 degree day. And that electricity is generated by coal and steam. You can ´brick it´ and ruin the batteries by leaving it long enough in your garage not plugged in so that it drains to 0--that was reported a year ago. (You can leave a well-restored 1920s-1960s collector car with a charged battery in a garage for months and have it kick right over.)
This car is impractical and why it was not designed as a hybrid is beyond me.

If the car is so impractical why is it necessary to fake a story to make it seem so? The reporter had an agenda and when the car didn´t meet his preconceived notions he tried to make it do so. Let the car be what it is and report that.
While the Tesla may not be for everyone, if someone wants it and likes it --- more power. Who is this idiot reporter to try and change the facts. He obviously did not know his actions were being recorded and he´s been caught!

Wonderful. A $100K car takes two days to go some 400 miles. Who pays for all the battery charges and how much do they cost? Lithium batteries are dangerous and the US Defense Dept won´t permit them in their aircraft.

The real story is why the reliably green environista NYT would attack Teasla´s "green" car, instead of saying it is the best thing since alfalfa sprouts.
Something got Broder´s yellow journalism genes up.
Likely Broder thought that the sensationalism of having to call a tow truck during a Tesla road test would make him the talk of the NYC leftist cocktail circuit.
Something like "I tried. I really, really tried, but the car just isn´t ready yet."

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
