It is difficult to say with certainly which of the many whoppers President Obama told tonight was took the most crust to utter, but my money is going on this assertion, made a few minutes into the speech: “Already, the Affordable Care Act is helping to slow the growth of health care costs.” I know “Orwellian” has now become rather hackneyed, but there is simply no other adjective that better describes this statement. It is not merely a lie. It is the precise opposite of the truth. It is just as absurd as “war is peace” or “freedom is slavery.”
You´d need a vocal chord transplant if you hollered "YOU LIE" after all the Obama assertions. All obamcare has done so far is waste billions on the bureaucratic set ups i greedy blue states. Money that could have been used to give low income people a vouchers to buy private insurance or set them up with a MSA.
But the fearful [destroys opposition], and unbelieving [does not cling to the Bible], and the abominable [partial birth abortion], and murderers [Benghazi], and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters [black liberation theology] and all liars [almost every speech], shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
with a >50% approval, does our nation deserve anything less than judgement?
My democrat friends are just coming to realize that they too are going to get the Obamacare shaft. I take very little pleasure in saying to them "I told you so!". Well, maybe just a little since I´ve been telling them for 4 years what it means when government takes over an industry.

And why is anyone surprised? Lying is what he does. It´s what all pro-regressives do. We bad, they good. Social justice for all (but us - and they will decide that).
It was too soon after the election for me to watch this lie-fest accompanied by the usual exaggerated cheering section by the idiots on the left. I tried the ´This man is lying´ note taped to the screen, sound muted, CC on, but I couldn´t do even that. Monday night´s DVR´d The Following was much more fun.
His speeches are always all the same - lies, big promises, progressive wet dreams. Until he´s gone. And the untangling can begin. Everything about this administration, the past 4 years, the next 4 years, everyone involved..... it´s ALL Orwellian.
Counting Fauxbama´s lies would be like cleansing the Augean stables with a toothbrush. Regardless of the lies, the sheeple will applaud because they don´t care what he says; they only care whether or not it sounds plausible and gives them something for free.
Axiom: If you believe the exact opposite of what Obama says you will be correct 95% of the time. The other 5% is for utterances like "Good Morning" and "Sit Down". In those cases he is sometimes sincere.
I found myself screening at the set when he the poor voters who had passed up early voting, absentee voting, and vote by mail, only to suffer long lines. And Obama would fix that. But absentee ballots are always mailed late by many states, mishandled by the military, in some cases lost in air crashes, and nary a word about their being disenfranchised by his administration. He values the military but cuts their health coverage, pensions, and absolutely tries to ensure their votes don´t count.
I must be honest and admit I could not suffer through one word that came out of Obama´s mouth last night. I am barely able to read articles about it without developing a severe eye twitch. I knew that haughty lies would tumble from his lips to cheering sycophants drunk on progressive power. I couldn´t take the media tongue bath either. So here I sit this morning more frightened than I have ever been in my life for the country I love. Each of you should be very fearful too since Obama has gotten away with every egregious act that would take down any other President. The perfect storm has hit, a radical President, a media who worships him, and a weak and fractured opposition. God help is. This man truly means to so weaken this nation both financially and militarily that we will be easy pickings for our enemies.
So glad to see Mr. Catron mentioned Dietrich Bonhoeffer in this quote: Unlike today’s progressive poseurs, he spoke truth to power when it cost something. While sitting in a cell, awaiting death for that crime....
However, Bonhoeffer was not in prison because "he spoke truth to power". Bonhoeffer, along with many German military officers and other German leaders of the day, were imprisoned because they had attempted to kill Hitler in a plan called "Operation Valkyrie".
We should be reminded how gruesomely these "conspirators" were executed. They were hanged with piano wire on meat hooks. Their hanging was filmed in order to show the military command what awaits them if they try something like that again.
None-the-less, the rest of Catron´s Bonhoeffer quote is just as relevant now as during WWII: “For evil to appear disguised as light, charity, historical necessity, or social justice is quite bewildering to anyone brought up on our traditional ethical concepts.”
While the situation in our country certainly doesn´t come close to Nazi Germany, but like Catron says: No, I’m not comparing Obama to Hitler. But I am saying that the never-ending stream of prevarication that emanates from the White House and its media toadies is indeed bewildering to anyone who tries to live honestly. And most of the propaganda is specifically designed to camouflage crimes against democracy like Obamacare.
Masochism, not being high or, for that matter, anywhere on my To-Engage-In list, last night I chose to ignore BHO’s shovel-ready words, dramatic pauses, stagy gestures and heaping helping of signature disingenuousness by not subjecting myself to his annual presentation of pap and circumstance.
It was an easy choice when I got home last night ...I taped both the "state of confusion speech"...and Westminster Kennel Club dog show ...that Bichon was so cute...I wished he had won...and his name was fitting..."Honor"...!
When 0bama said the Affordable Healthcare act was lowering healthcare costs, I tuned him out. My insurance has gone up 300% in the last three years. You can see most companies are going to opt out of insurance and send their employees packing to 0bama´s "Exchanges" which is what 0bama´s grand plan was in the first place. Put all the people in a single payer system, however, you must remember that he and his family will be covered by a gold plated health insurance and not have to suffer the long lines and shortages for healthcare. Wake up America.
Forget the price of healthcare...has anyone seen the prices of everything else? Food is 3-5 times more expensive than it was a couple years ago. Gasoline is over 2x more expensive. The cost of living is skyrocketing while jobs are almost non-existent, nobody (except the fat cats and the elite government types) is getting raises nor have they been for years. I feel like it is the Weimar Republic again with hyperinflation. Why aren´t the people who are dependent on government benes crying about not being able to buy as much? I know they haven´t had many (if any) increases in their "income". Even they should be screaming about the state of our union.
What I don´t understand are those idiots you see who post on a lot of articles who say that the economy is getting better and that we are all better off under Obama. These idiots who think that everything is wonderful now and that anything that goes against their belief system is evil. if you ask me, they are the evil ones.
I couldn´t watch him last night. Sorry, the dog show won out. I knew I would hear if he had mentioned Libya. It´s up to "we the people", O´Reilly, Rush and Hannity to keep trying to get the answers and to hold someone responsible. (jail time for dereliction of duty comes to mind). We can´t desert these people like the gov´t has done. Now I´m getting frustrated - where are some of the 30 people that were saved?! A Navy Seal gave up his life for you.
I´m annoyed that so many Hollywood celebrities hate the system that made them rich. Actor/comedian Russell Brand told the BBC he wants "a socialist, egalitarian system based on the massive redistribution of wealth." Director George Lucas got rich not just from movies but also by selling Star Wars merchandise. Yet he says he believes in democracy but "not capitalist democracy." Actor Martin Sheen says, "That´s where the problem lies ... It´s corporate America." And so on. On my TV show, actor/author Kevin Sorbo pointed out that such sentiments make little sense coming from entertainers. "It´s a very entrepreneurial business.
We´ve all seen selfies taken in questionable places. During a school lockdown. In front of a man attempting suicide. At Auschwitz. Now, some people are adding President Obama to the list of people with poor selfie judgment after the leader of the free world posed with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service Tuesday in South Africa. It appears from photos of the incident that Obama was not the instigator (that distinction goes to Thorning-Schmidt). But he seems to have participated happily, though First Lady Michelle Obama seemed unimpressed by the whole spectacle.
In Texas, we say this:"Just because a chicken has wings doesn´t mean it can fly." The translation is that "appearances are deceptive." In other words, you can call it affordable but that does not mean that it is affordable. According to The NY Times, there is a little screaming going on when people check out the affordability of the Affordable Health Care Act: "Until now, it was almost impossible for people using the federal health care website to see the deductible amounts, which consumers pay before coverage kicks in. But federal officials finally relented last week and added a "window shopping" feature
Health insurance enrollment in at least one state appears to be picking up. Colorado’s state-based insurance exchange Connect for Colorado announced on Monday that more than 5,000 new customers have purchased private insurance since November 30, increasing the state’s total enrollment numbers in private plans by more than 50 percent. (Snip)But if current trends continue, the exchange may have an age problem. Demographic information released at the end of November shows the makeup of the exchange so far skews much older than federal officials have targeted.
With all the many lies and obfuscations perpetrated by this White House the one about whether the president knew or had met his “Uncle Omar” was a relatively minor one. Still it speaks volumes about how this administration — which obsesses in public about “transparency” — really operates. Onyango Obama had been living in Massachusetts illegally since the 1970s (a judge granted him legal resident status just last week). When he was arrested in 2011 for DUI and told police “I think I will call the White House,” media outlets asked the White House if the two men had ever met.
I owe Mitt Romney an apology. During the 2012 Republican presidential primary season, I repeatedly criticized Romney — and personally challenged him during his editorial board meeting with the Washington Examiner — for promising that if elected, on day one of his presidency, he would grant Obamacare waivers to all 50 states. As I reported, under the text of the law, the ability to offer waivers to states was subject to many restrictions and wouldn’t even be an option until 2017, four years after his hypothetical swearing in. Though I still believe I was right about what the statute said,
One interesting, but not always precisely reliable, measure of partisan preference is what pollsters call the generic vote -- which party´s candidates people would vote for in elections to the House of Representatives. Over the past two decades, responses have tended to underpredict Republicans´ performance in subsequent elections, though that was the case more in 1992-2002 than recently. The last two months have seen sharp shifts in the generic vote, as National Journal´s Charlie Cook notes, with Democrats peaking during the government shutdown in the first half of October and then a sharp swing to Republicans after the spotlight shifted
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
