| NEW YORK – When Joe the Affenpinscher won the 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday night, his handler Ernesto Lara raised him high towards the rafters as if to say, "We did it!" The uncommon dog with a familiar name proved that he was no regular Joe by becoming the first of his breed to win Best in Show at Madison Square Garden. The 9-year-old Affenpinscher´s full name is Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, but his handlers just call him Joe. The Affenpinscher is known for its monkey-like face but human-like qualities. That was a really good BIS grouping to choose from. Congrats to Banana Joe and Swagger! And yes, the show was way more educational and made more sense than wasting another couple of hours of my life watching the SOTU.

Loved the little Affenpinscher and the Bichon. The terrier judge was lazy and the worst I´ve ever seen at Westminster.

I agree this was much better than watching the SOTU.
I loved the American Foxhound and the German Wirehair Pointer. But all of the dogs were special in their own way. Having watched the Westminster Dog Show for three years now, I am partial to the herding and working dog groups, as well as the sporting group. I learn so much, and there are always new breeds I´ve never heard of. I´m fascinated with the history of each breed and their unique purposes.

All jokes aside, I really really thought the Portuguese water dog would win, just to be pc and all. There were certainly many new breeds seen. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the event. Nothing says loving like a dog.

I agree the Affenpinscher was adorable, but I´m partial to Bichons. We are now down to one. Our beloved little 12 yr old had to be put down in Sept. because of an anurysim. His cousin, Lady Madeline is 13. We ALL grieved.
Anyway, watching the dog show was sooo much better than listening to another lecture from the One.
Absolutely loved the sheepdog! What a glorious representative of the breed! I loved them all. I tend to agree with y´all on the Terrier Group judge.

I also watched it...I would have watched it even if Mitt was giving the SOTU speech(well I could have seen it on the internet!!) Loved all of it...One of my Maltese came in second Best of Breed in 2005..so proud of her..and she was immediately retired so she could come home....

Loved this alternate dog show. It had so much more class. So many cute pooches but Swagger (what a perfect name) was my favorite.
My daughter and I had fun playing fashion police critiquing the ´couture´ of the women handlers. Where, oh where, do they get their duds and shoes? From suits not even carried by Goodwill anymore to MOB dresses from the fifties to shoes I´ve never seen in any era? They seem to be parodying the parody "Best in Show."
But love the show and never miss it.

The Affenpinscher is cute. Not very common - I´ve seen one a couple times. I like when an old hound dog wins. Does that happen anymore? Maybe next year.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
