The former Army staff sergeant who was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama Monday is declining the first lady´s invitation to be her guest at Tuesday´s State of the Union address. Clint Romesha, who was awarded the prestigious medal for uncommon valor in Afghanistan, told CNN that he has decided to spend the evening with friends from his former unit, Black Knight Troop, 3-61 CAV, his wife Tammy--with whom he celebrates a wedding anniversary Tuesday--and their families.[Snip] But a lot of these guys I haven´t seen a really long time and I´d like to hang with them

My congratulations and profound respect for this soldier/hero who refuses to be a pawn and window-dressing for the Obama administration! If only the Pentagon had this kind of courage!

When the message come to sit with Michelle during the address, visions came to Sgt Romesha of shareing the seat with her. He could vision her taking 3/4th of the seat leaving him only the remaining 1/4th.

Right on, #4. This courageous man deserves tribute at every level. Courage of conviction, unwillingness to be "used" by the repulsive cow woman to prove her love for the military as the military is about to be further gutted by her coward husband...and so much more there isn´t room to list. suffice it to say that Staff Sergeant Romesha continues to make America proud of him.

Someone from the White House will probably be over to pick up that medal. Obviously, the soldier didn´t realize getting the Medal a few days before the State of the Union address meant it was a photo op for the Prez, and part of the deal is you play along, darn it!

I agree with #19. Perhaps the Sgt. should have publically offered his seat to Dr Carson. That would make watching the SOTU worth watching.
Is the SOTU tonight? Sorry, I have other plans.

One of the eight soldiers killed in the engagement for which Romesha was awarded the MOH, was a local boy here in Loudoun County, Virginia. His name was Stephan Mace and his mother ran a funding drive to buy plane tickets so that members of Black Knight Troop could attend the MOH ceremony. I´m glad that these brave men are having the time to "hang" together again and I know that Stephan is smiling down on them. God bless both him and his Mom.

Neighborhoods south of Oklahoma City have suffered catastrophic damage after a two mile-wide tornado touched down in a highly-populated suburb on Monday afternoon, flattening entire schools and wiping out hundreds of homes in one of the worst storms the area has ever seen. As hail thundered down and heavy winds began whipping the area of Moore, a storm warning went off just before 3pm local time, alerting the 170,000 residents within the area to seek shelter. After about 35 minutes on the ground, the tornado appeared to dissipate. Devastating aerial images taken immediately afterwards show schools completely flattened by the

The Hungarian prime minister has drawn outrage in Germany after drawing parallels with comments made by Angela Merkel about sending "cavalry" to Hungary and the Nazi occupation of his country. Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Sunday that the IRS scandal reveals a ´culture of intimidation´ in the Obama Administration that is bent on making it more difficult for ´citizens to organize and express themselves.´ In an interview on NBC´s ´Meet the Press´ McConnell, however, backed away from claims by fellow Kentucky Senator Rand Paul that IRS officials has circulated a memo directing tax collectors to give tougher scrutiny to any groups that were critical of the president. ´The investigation has just begun so I´m not going to speculate on what they may find, but what we do know

You´ll remember all that fuss about bees and neonicotinoids last month. It seemed to come out of nowhere--like a flash mob. Suddenly, it was the most urgent cause of the moment for green activists everywhere, with people taking to the streets in bee costumes and celebrities from Vivienne Westwood to Stephen Fry rushing to lend their support. [Snip] Those of us who´ve observed the environmental movement at work, though, will have recognised a familiar pattern here. First, the emergence of a new poster child victim of man´s selfishness and greed: in this case the bee. And we all love bees

Local Conservative party campaigners, including the chairman of one constituency association, will this week pledge their support for Nigel Farage after one of David Cameron’s allies described grassroots Tories as “mad, swivel-eyed loons”. Mr Farage uses an advertisement in Monday´s Telegraph to urge Conservative voters to back Ukip. The “loons” description, he says, is “the ultimate insult” from a party leadership that has betrayed the trust of its own supporters. He writes in the advertisement: “Only an administration run by a bunch of college kids, none of whom have ever had a proper job in their lives, could so

Severe weather has left a violent trail of destruction through the Midwest and South, bringing high winds, heavy rains and tornadoes - and at least one person has been killed. Numerous twisters were spotted on Saturday evening near Rozel, a sparsely populated area in central Kansas. They were also reported to the south in parts of Oklahoma and Iowa. Lightning bolts lit up the sky as the storm moved through. A National Weather Service advisory warned: ´You could be killed if not underground or in a tornado shelter.´ ´Complete destruction of neighborhoods, businesses and vehicles will occur. What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
